A symmetric wipe is one-sided if you own nothing it can take — 055 is the whole card, and a Gold token would arm the half you dodged

Deck
- Mono-Chaos, so any of the sixteen legend names carrying Chaos holds it (103.1.b.1): Loose Cannon (OGN-251), Unforgiven (OGN-259), Swift Scout (OGN-263), Bounty Hunter (OGN-267), Dark Child - Starter (OGS-017), Glorious Executioner (SFD-185), Blade Dancer (SFD-195), Prodigal Explorer (SFD-199), Battle Mistress (SFD-203), Bloodharbor Ripper (UNL-185), Gloomist (UNL-193), Scorn of the Moon (UNL-197), Voidreaver (UNL-201), Master of Shadows (VEN-143), Soul's Reflection (VEN-151), Heart of the Tempest (VEN-155).
- A DECKBUILDING CONSTRAINT, NOT A BOARD ONE: the list must run no gear of its own, including anything that mints a gear TOKEN.
Prerequisites
- 055 IS THE WHOLE CARD: 'When executing card text, do as much as you can, ignoring impossible instructions.' A player who controls no gear simply ignores 'kill one of their gear' and the spell still resolves (055.1). So in a list that runs zero gear, the pool's only symmetric gear wipe is a ONE-SIDED gear kill for 1 Energy at [Action] speed. Nothing in the card does this; the deck does.
- AND A GOLD TOKEN WOULD ARM THE HALF YOU DODGED. 185.2.d: 'Tokens have a type. They follow all rules for their type unless otherwise specified' — so a Gold gear token is gear for this instruction and is a legal thing for YOU to be made to kill. `UNL-145 Pyke, Returned` is Chaos, mints a Gold on an enemy death, and is therefore ANTI-synergic with this entry: adding him turns a one-sided removal spell into a trade. This is the positive half of the token rules biting the player who usually benefits from it, and it is easy to build by accident.
- IT TARGETS NOTHING, AND THAT CUTS BOTH WAYS. 355.10.e: 'It is part of a set of objects chosen in whole or in part by other players', whose printed example is this exact shape — so 809.1.c's [Deflect] tax never charges and an absolute 'can't be chosen by enemy spells and abilities' clause (SFD-105 Ruin Runner) never engages, because nothing is chosen by you. The price is that the OPPONENT picks which of their gear dies, so it takes their worst Equipment when they have two and their best only when they have one.
- THE PREFECT COVERS WHAT THE SPELL CANNOT, AND ITS COST IS PAID EARLY. 383.3.b: a cost 'immediately following the "you may"... that appears as the first part of the effect' is the Triggered Ability's base cost, and 383.3.b.1 requires it 'in order to finalize the Triggered Ability to the Chain' — so the Prefect is already banished when the trigger goes on the Chain, and 108.6.c makes both banishments the hard kind of removal.
- BUT IT IS NOT A COUNTER, AND R26 IS WHY. The project's ruling on 'when you play a <card type>' triggers (R26 = B, issue #11) is that they fire as the played card RESOLVES, on the strength of the Core Rules example at 359.3.e.10, rather than above it on the Chain. So the gear lands, its own play trigger fires, and the Prefect then banishes the object. He answers PERSISTENT gear — Equipment, Seals, anything whose value is standing on the board — and does not answer gear that has already paid for itself on arrival. The entry does not depend on which way R26 falls: the gear is banished either way, only its play trigger differs.
- SIZE OF THE PACKAGE, NAMED: 103.2.b gives three of each, so six pieces of gear removal, plus whatever the domain's targeted answers add (`VEN-003 Brittle Steel` is Fury, `OGN-022 Thermo Beam` and `SFD-005 Detonate` are Fury and already catalogued). Within mono-Chaos, these two ARE the answer to Equipment.
- 419.4.a IS THE PARAGRAPH, NOT THE EXAMPLE. R26 was ruled B on the strength of the worked example at 359.3.e.10, and 419.4 opens "Some Abilities trigger when cards are played or otherwise check whether cards have been played" with 419.4.a stating it normatively: "Any such triggered abilities trigger when the act of playing the card has been completed by the resolution of the card." So the conclusion is unchanged and its footing is not an example any more - only a rewording of 419.4.a could reopen R26, not a rewording of 359.3.e.10. Companion: 419.4.a.1 keeps the trigger off a countered card, while 419.4.b lets a non-triggered check (Legion, "cards played this turn") count it - a trigger needs RESOLUTION, a non-triggered check needs only FINALIZATION.
- 204.3.a IS THE FIRST AND CLEANER SOURCE FOR THIS, AND IT CARRIES THE WORKED EXAMPLE: "When Costs within Instructions appear as the first part of the effect in triggered abilities, the cost is taken to be the base cost of the triggered ability. It must be paid to finalize the triggered ability", with Riot's example being Overzealous Fan - "When I defend, you may kill me to move an attacking unit to its base" - and the note that "in order to finalize the ability to the chain, its controller must kill Overzealous Fan". 383.3.b says the same thing later in the book. The companion is 204.3.b: a cost appearing in a SPELL, in an ACTIVATED ability, or in a LATER part of a trigger's effect is paid on resolution instead, which is the 205 "pay X. If you do, Y" family and the reason the two look alike on the card and behave differently on the chain.
Steps
- Build the list with no gear at all — no Equipment, and no card that mints a Gold or other gear token.
- Play Ravenbloom Prefect (3 Energy) and leave him on the board as a standing threat: any gear the opponent plays can be answered by banishing him.
- When they commit a gear you must answer immediately, pay the trigger's base cost — banish the Prefect (383.3.b, 383.3.b.1) — and the trigger banishes their gear (108.6.c).
- For gear already on the board, play Acceptable Losses (1 Energy, [Action], so it also works inside a Showdown). 055 makes your half of the instruction impossible and therefore ignored; they must kill one of theirs.
- Repeat: three copies of each (103.2.b).
Per iteration
one enemy gear killed or banished per card, for 1 Energy (the spell) or the Prefect's own body (the trigger)
How it ends
engine — up to six pieces of the opponent's gear removed across a game for 1 Energy a spell and one body, with nothing of yours lost; nothing here scores

OGN-179 Acceptable Losses and VEN-102 Ravenbloom Prefect were both in ZERO entries. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; 055, 055.1, 103.1.b.1, 103.2.b, 108.6.c, 185.2.d, 355.10.e, 383.3.b, 383.3.b.1, 809.1.c opened in the Core Rules file. The 'only symmetric gear kill' claim was swept over the whole corpus and its members are named (OGN-179 and OGN-209 Cull the Weak are the only two 'each player kills' rows); NOTE for the next reader that a sweep written as `kills? ... gear` is required — a regex on the singular `kill` misses this card entirely, which is how it stayed out of the project's earlier gear-removal inventory. No unruled reading; R26 is cited as already ruled and the entry stands either way.
