Combo · ENGINE
An [Assault] whose X is a count of the enemy garrison gets bigger the harder the wall, and Vox pays a conquer forward into the next combat
Pieces
- Ancient Warmonger ×1
SFD-131 · payoff · chaos
[Accelerate] (You may pay 1 Energy + 1 Chaos Power as an additional cost to have me enter ready.) I have [Assault] equal to the number of enemy units here. (+1 Might while I'm an attacker for each instance of Assault.)
- Inviolus Vox ×1
UNL-027 · engine · fury
When I conquer, give a friendly unit +8 Might this turn.
Payoff
Deck
- Chaos + Fury, so five legend names (103.1.b.2): Loose Cannon (OGN-251), Dark Child - Starter (OGS-017), Glorious Executioner (SFD-185), Bloodharbor Ripper (UNL-185), Master of Shadows (VEN-143).
- Two battlefields, which 485.4 gives a Duel by default — the whole line is Vox conquering one and the Warmonger taking the other in the same turn.
Prerequisites
- THE WARMONGER'S X IS A COUNT, NOT A CONSTANT, AND 807.1.b.1 IS WHY THAT IS LEGAL: 'The X is referenced in the functional text of the ability.' So his [Assault] is read off the garrison he is attacking — he is a 4-Might body against an empty battlefield and a 7-Might one against three defenders. He is the pool's answer to a stacked wall rather than to a thin one, which inverts the usual pricing of an attacker.
- AND 807.2 SUMS IT WITH ANYTHING ELSE: 'the Assault Value of all granted Assault keywords is summed', so a Blood Rush or a Captain Farron adds on top of the count rather than replacing it.
- VOX PAYS A CONQUER FORWARD INTO THE NEXT COMBAT. 'When I conquer, give a friendly unit +8 :rb_might: this turn' is a continuous modifier, not a Buff (702.3 and 703 are silent), and 461.1 leaves the order of combats to the Turn Player — so Vox takes the first battlefield, his trigger loads the Warmonger, and the Warmonger takes the second at Might 4 + N + 8.
- TWO CONQUERS IS THE CEILING AND THE ENTRY SAYS SO. 470 refuses a second Score at a battlefield already scored this turn and 485.4 puts two battlefields on a Duel table, so this is at most 2 points a turn however large the bodies get. It is a board-control engine, not a finisher.
- [ACCELERATE] MAKES THE WARMONGER SAME-TURN, AND ITS POWER IS DOMAIN-LOCKED. 805.1.a: 'As you play me, you may pay [1][C] as an additional cost. If you do, I enter ready', with 805.1.a.1: 'If the unit has one or more domains, the Power portion of the Accelerate cost can be paid only with a Power that matches one of the domains of the unit.' So the Warmonger's Accelerate needs a CHAOS Power specifically — a Fury-heavy list that expects to pay it with whatever is spare will find it cannot.
- PRICE THE BOARD, NOT THE TRICK: Vox is 8 Energy + 2 Fury Power and the Warmonger is 5 Energy plus 1 Energy + 1 Chaos Power to accelerate. This is a late-game line that needs both bodies alive on the same turn, and the entry does not pretend it is cheap.
Steps
- Play Inviolus Vox (8 Energy + 2 Fury Power) on an earlier turn and let it survive.
- On the turn you want both battlefields, play Ancient Warmonger (5 Energy) and pay [Accelerate]'s 1 Energy + 1 CHAOS Power (805.1.a.1) so he enters ready.
- Attack with Vox first (461.1 leaves the order to you) and win: 466.5 establishes Control and 466.5.d makes it a Conquer.
- Vox's trigger gives the Warmonger +8 Might this turn.
- Move the Warmonger into the second battlefield. His [Assault] is read as the number of enemy units there (807.1.b.1) and 807.2 sums it with the +8 he is carrying.
- 465.2.c reads the total on your side of the damage step.
Per iteration
a second battlefield taken on the same turn as the first, with the attacker carrying +8 and an [Assault] equal to the wall it is hitting
How it ends
engine — two Conquers in one turn, which 470 with 485.4 makes the hard ceiling in a Duel; the bodies scale with the opponent's garrison but the score does not

SFD-131 Ancient Warmonger and UNL-027 Inviolus Vox were both in ZERO entries. No unruled reading.
