Star-Crossed bounces Annie with the threat, and replaying Annie fetches Star-Crossed back
Pieces
- Annie, Stubborn ×1
OGS-010 · engine · chaos
When you play me, return a spell from your trash to your hand.
- Star-Crossed ×1
UNL-128 · engine · chaos
[Reaction] (Play any time, even before spells and abilities resolve.) Return a friendly unit and an enemy unit to their owners' hands.
Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains are Fury and Chaos: OGS-017 Dark Child (Annie), whose 'At the end of your turn, ready up to 2 runes' pays part of the next cycle.
Prerequisites
- THE 'DRAWBACK' IS THE ENGINE. Star-Crossed must return a friendly unit as well as an enemy one; pointing the friendly half at Annie puts her back in hand, and replaying her is what returns Star-Crossed from the trash. Neither card loops on its own.
- IT IS ONE BOUNCE A TURN, PAID IN FULL. 3 Energy + 1 Power for Star-Crossed and 4 Energy + 1 Power for Annie is 7 Energy and 2 Power a cycle, every cycle, with no discount anywhere - which is exactly the trap the Blitzcrank false positive registered in data/synergies.json is about, and this entry does not repeat it.
- IT ANSWERS ONE THREAT, NOT A BOARD. 'an enemy unit' is singular, and a bounced permanent is not dead - the opponent replays it, and the source's own account is a turn-by-turn grind against one card, not a lock in the sense tianna-wildclaw-point-lock is.
- [Reaction] is the reason it works as an answer at all: 813.1.b gives Reaction every permission of Action, so Star-Crossed can be held for the moment the threat lands and does not have to be cast into an open board.
Steps
- Annie, Stubborn on the board, Star-Crossed in hand.
- The opponent lands the unit you cannot beat.
- Play Star-Crossed as a [Reaction] (3 Energy + 1 Power): return their unit AND Annie to hand. Star-Crossed resolves to your trash.
- Replay Annie (4 Energy + 1 Power). Her play trigger returns a spell from your trash to your hand - Star-Crossed.
- Repeat next turn, for as long as you can pay 7 Energy and 2 Power a turn.
Per iteration
one enemy unit bounced per turn, for 7 Energy and 2 Power; Star-Crossed is never consumed
How it ends
engine only - one bounce a turn, bounded by Energy and Power, not by copies

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-issue62-table-of-fourteen.md), issue #62 section 2.6. What makes this worth an entry rather than a synergy row is that the two cards fix each other's drawback and neither is a loop alone. What keeps it honest is the price: nothing here is discounted, so the source's word 'loop' is true in the sense that the pieces come back and false in the sense that would matter - 7 Energy and 2 Power a turn is the whole cost, every turn. That is the same arithmetic the Blitzcrank exclusion in data/synergies.json rests on. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Trap check: no attack designation; no [Repeat]; no [Temporary]; no token; a return to hand is not a Recall (455 sends a permanent to its Base, not to its owner's hand), so 456 and 458 do not apply. Depends on no unruled reading.
