Forge of the Fluft gives your legend a free attach every turn — and 434.1.g is why the Equipment has to leave Aphelios first

- Soul Sword ×1

[Equip] 1 Calm Power (1 Calm Power: Attach this to a unit you control.)
[Level 3][>] I have an additional +1 Might. (While you have 3+ XP, get the effect.)
Payoff
Deck
- Any Calm legend: Aphelios, Exalted and Soul Sword are both mono-Calm (103.1.b.3) and Forge of the Fluft is colourless. Neither card is a Signature card, so 103.2.d.2 forces no legend.
- None of the three is banned or restricted in either format.
- Forge of the Fluft is one of your three battlefields (485.4.a: three provided, 1 used; 485.5 makes it random in a Duel), AND you must CONTROL it — 190.1, 'Control is established over Battlefields through the course of play', so a body has to walk there first. The Forge's grant is explicitly 'While you control this battlefield'.
Prerequisites
- 434.1.g IS THE WHOLE ENTRY. 'Attaching a card to its current Top-Most Card will not have any effect', and 434.1.h: 'If a Game Effect instructs a player to Attach a card to its current Top-Most Card, nothing additional happens.' So an Equipment already sitting on Aphelios can never be re-attached to him for a second trigger — the shuttle has to take it OFF first, and 434.1.f does that automatically ('Attaching a card to a new Top-Most Card will cause it to Detach from the card to which it is currently Attached'). Every 'attach it to him again' line in this family dies on 434.1.g; this one works because it uses two different hosts.
- THE STEADY STATE IS ONE TRIGGER A TURN FOR ONE CALM POWER, AND THE ARITHMETIC IS FORCED. At the start of a turn the Sword is on Aphelios (that is where the previous turn left it). Spend the free legend attach to move it to a spare body — no trigger, the Sword lands on someone else — then pay the Sword's own [Equip] cost of one Calm rune to bring it back to Aphelios, which IS a trigger. To land on him twice you would need two paid attaches (2 Power), and Aphelios's own 'choose one that hasn't been chosen this turn' caps the whole thing at three modes a turn whatever you spend.
- AND THE FIRST MODE PAYS FOR IT. 'Ready 2 runes' hands back two exhausted runes, i.e. two more Energy taps at 164.2.a. The one Calm Power the shuttle costs is a rune recycle — 161.2.b sends it to the Rune Deck, not the Main Deck — and 315.3.b channels 2 runes back every Channel Phase, so one Power a turn sits inside the free floor the project measured in #44. The cycle is Energy-positive and Power-neutral. CORRECTED 2026-10-24 (#456): not at the next Channel Phase. 416.1 puts a recycled rune on the bottom of the Rune Deck (416.1.b) and 430.1 channels from the top, so 315.3.b's two a turn are the runes above it, which the board gets whether or not anything was recycled. With only those two a turn (161.2.a, 315.3.b, 485.7), a rune recycled on any of T1 to T6 is back on T7 going first; going second the first one recycled by T5 is back on T6 and the second on T7; each two more recycled push it a turn later, and a card that channels more (430.2) brings it back sooner. Only once the Rune Deck is empty (all twelve out, T6 at the earliest from either seat) does the next Channel Phase give a recycled rune back; before that a recycle is a rune short on every turn until the deck runs dry, and two recycled every turn hold the board flat at two going first. So the shuttle's one Calm Power a turn is a rune of the curve short, cumulatively, until the Rune Deck runs dry: after k turns of it the board is k runes behind, so the cycle is Energy-positive on its first two turns, zero on the third and negative after, until the deck is empty, and 'Power-neutral' holds only once the deck is empty. The attach trigger is unaffected; status unchanged.
- THE FREE ATTACH IS THE LEGEND'S ONLY EXHAUST, SO IT COMPETES. 107.4.c ('The Champion Legend here is a Game Object') is why the granted ability works at all, and 315.1.b readies it every Awaken. But a legend that already has an exhaust ability of its own — a Renata, a Deceiver — cannot do both in one turn. The cheapest legends for this line are the ones whose own exhaust you were not using.
- 818.1 MAKES THE ATTACH AN ACTIVATED ABILITY, NOT A PLAY. Equip 'has a cost to activate and Attaches the card with Equip to a chosen Unit when the cost is paid' (818.1.b), so nothing here fires a 'when you play a gear' trigger, and the Forge's granted ability is an Activated Ability too — it is not a [Reaction], so both halves of the shuttle are Main-Phase only.
- WHAT IT IS NOT. This is not the Weaponmaster discount: [Weaponmaster] equips 'to ME' and only on the play (818.1), so it is one attach per body played. The Forge is one attach per TURN, forever, to any unit — which is why it is the first repeatable attach source in the catalogue that costs no card.
Bodies no card supplies
Each turn, exhaust your legend for the Forge's granted ability and attach the Sword to a spare unit — this takes it off Aphelios (434.1.f) and fires nothing
Steps
- Bring Forge of the Fluft as one of your three battlefields and walk a body there to establish Control (190.1).
- Play Soul Sword (1 Energy) and Aphelios, Exalted (4 Energy + 1 Calm Power); attach the Sword to any unit you control.
- Each turn, exhaust your legend for the Forge's granted ability and attach the Sword to a spare unit — this takes it off Aphelios (434.1.f) and fires nothing.
- Pay the Sword's own [Equip] cost of one Calm rune and attach it to Aphelios. This time the attach lands on him, so his trigger fires.
- Choose 'Ready 2 runes' — two exhausted runes come back, which is two more Energy for the turn.
- The legend readies at your next Awakening Phase (315.1.b) and the cycle repeats for one Calm Power a turn, forever.
Per iteration
one Aphelios mode per turn (2 runes readied, or a rune channelled, or a buff) for one Calm Power and no cards
How it ends
engine only — one trigger a turn in the steady state, at most three in a turn by Aphelios's own once-each-turn clause, bounded by the Power you can spend on extra attaches and by the legend's single exhaust; nothing here scores

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #168, matrix group 21, attach-equip x SFD-049). SFD-208 Forge of the Fluft was in NO entry before this. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened: 103.1.b.3, 103.2.d.2, 107.4.c, 161.2.b, 164.2.a, 190.1, 315.1.b, 315.3.b, 434.1.f, 434.1.g, 434.1.h, 485.4.a, 485.5, 818.1, 818.1.b. Distinct from azir-aphelios-attach (Azir's once-a-turn swap, which also moves the unit) and aphelios-jax-quickdraw-attach (Quick-Draw's Reaction-speed play, one attach per Equipment card): this is the first attach source in the catalogue that repeats every turn and costs no card. NEW RULES FACT FOR THE FAMILY: 434.1.g / 434.1.h make a re-attach to the same host a no-op, so every 'when you attach an Equipment to me' payoff needs a second host to shuttle through. Ban check: none of the three is banned or restricted. Trap check: the Forge's grant needs CONTROL of the battlefield (190.1), which is stated as a cost; the legend's exhaust competes with its own ability; the attach is an Activated Ability and fires no play trigger (818.1.b); no [Weaponmaster] discount is claimed; no unruled reading.
