Ashe, Focused shows the hand and Fallen Feline names what she saw — and against an opponent who Holds nothing the banish never comes back
Pieces
- Ashe, Focused ×1
UNL-169 · enabler · order
When you play me, choose an opponent. They reveal their hand. Choose a card revealed this way and banish it. When they hold, return it to their hand (even if I'm no longer on the board).
- Fallen Feline ×1
VEN-132 · payoff · order
When you play me, name a spell. While I'm at a battlefield, opponents can't play spells with that name.
Payoff
Deck
- Mono-Order, so any of the 17 legends carrying Order runs the pair (Fury/Order, Calm/Order, Mind/Order, Body/Order or Order/Chaos).
- A battlefield you already control, for the Feline: 355.2.a makes a battlefield you control a valid location to play a unit to, and her clause is 'While I'm at a battlefield'.
Prerequisites
- BOTH HALVES OF THE PAIRING ARE UNIQUENESS CLAIMS AND BOTH WERE GREPPED OVER THE WHOLE POOL. 'name a card|spell|unit' returns exactly one row, VEN-132. 'reveals their hand' returns seven - OGN-156 Sabotage (Body), OGN-192 Mindsplitter (Chaos), UNL-053 Scuttle Crab (Calm), UNL-135 Insightful Investigator (Chaos), UNL-139 Bone Skewer (Chaos), UNL-169 Ashe (Order) and VEN-085 Decree of Strength (Body) - and Ashe is the only Order one, which is why this pair is mono-domain instead of a forced two-domain shell.
- WHY THEY COMPOSE. 762 only asks that the named card exist and be legal in the format, 762.1 forbids inventing one and 762.2 forbids naming a token, so naming is a free shot fired blind. Ashe's reveal turns it into an informed one: banish the best answer, name the second. And the halves expire differently, which is the point - Ashe's is temporary by her own text, the Feline's is keyed on the NAME and persists, so 103.2.b makes it worth up to 3 cards rather than 1.
- HOW LONG ASHE'S BANISH REALLY LASTS, corrected. 'When they hold, return it to their hand' - and their Hold is 315.2.b.2, the Scoring Step of THEIR Beginning Phase, which is the first thing that happens on their next turn. So the banish covers the remainder of YOUR OWN TURN and nothing more. That makes Ashe a burst-turn escort at 5 Energy + 1 Power, not a resource-denial card, and issue #100's 'temporal, hasta su hold' reads a turn longer than the phase order allows.
- AND THE HALF THAT IS NOT TEMPORARY AT ALL. 469.2 defines the Hold as 'A player maintains Control of a Battlefield they did not yet Score this turn during their Beginning Phase', and 315.2.b.2 holds only 'all Battlefields they Control'. An opponent who controls no battlefield never Holds, so the return trigger never fires and Ashe's banish is PERMANENT. That is not an exotic board - it is what a wall like warden-tianna-base-lock manufactures. 'Even if I'm no longer on the board' cuts the same way: killing Ashe does not bring the card back either.
- SEQUENCE IS FORCED: Ashe first, Feline second, same turn or different turns. Reversed, the Feline names blind and the pair is worth less than its halves. And the Feline has to reach a battlefield YOU control - 190.1 says 'Control is established over Battlefields through the course of play' and the second sentence of 190.6.d blanks a battlefield with no Controller, so a battlefield you merely brought is not enough. At your base she names a spell and then does nothing.
- 7 Energy and 2 Power for the pair, and both enter exhausted (143.4). What refutes it: the reveal is one photograph - they draw 1 per turn (315.4.b) and can find another answer; the Feline is M3 with no protection, and killing her switches the name lock off; and if the revealed hand holds no second spell worth naming, the pair is worth less than the two cards apart.
- Cheaper sight exists at the price of a second domain: OGN-156 Sabotage (Body, 1 Energy + 1 Power) reveals the hand and RECYCLES a non-unit - 416.1 puts it on the bottom of the deck, which outlasts Ashe's banish - and VEN-085 Decree of Strength (Body, 1 Energy) does the same for a Mind card. Both need a Body/Order legend and neither brings a 4-Might body, so the entry is walked on Ashe.
Steps
- Play Ashe, Focused (5 Energy + 1 Power). The chosen opponent reveals their hand; banish the card that most threatens the turn you are about to take.
- Read the rest of the hand while it is revealed (424.1: revealing is presenting the card to all players).
- Play Fallen Feline to a battlefield you control (2 Energy + 1 Power) and name the best spell still in that hand. 762 asks only that it be a legal card in the format.
- For as long as the Feline is at a battlefield, no copy of that spell can be played - including the copies they draw later, since the lock is on the name and 103.2.b lets them run three.
- The banished card returns at the start of their next turn when they Hold (315.2.b.2). If they control no battlefield, 469.2 means they never Hold and it never returns.
How it ends
engine only - one card gone for the rest of your turn and one spell name locked out for as long as the Feline stands; neither half scores

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-denial-lens-candidates.md), issue #100 candidate 4, REWRITTEN. The pair and the class are right and both uniqueness claims survive a full-pool grep. Two corrections. First, the duration: the issue treats Ashe's banish as lasting until the opponent's Hold as if that were a turn away, when 315.2.b.2 puts their Hold at the very start of their next turn - so the banish covers the rest of YOUR turn and nothing more, which reclassifies Ashe as a burst-turn escort. Second, the finding the issue did not have: 469.2 defines a Hold over a battlefield the player CONTROLS, so an opponent controlling none never Holds and the banish is permanent - the board a denial wall creates. Also added, because 190.6.d's second sentence is a trap this project has been caught by before: the Feline needs a battlefield you actually control, not merely one you brought. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Ban check: neither code is among the 12 [BANNED] corpus lines nor in data/legality.json. Depends on no unruled reading.
