Payoff
Deck
- Any Chaos legend: Fae Porter is mono-Chaos (103.1.b.3) and Back-Alley Bar is colourless. Neither is a Signature card, so 103.2.d.2 forces nothing.
- Neither card is banned or restricted in either format.
- Back-Alley Bar is one of your three battlefields (485.4.a: three provided, 1 used; 485.5 makes it random in a Duel), you control it, and it holds the body you intend to ship out.
Prerequisites
- THE PORTER HIMSELF NEVER COLLECTS, AND THE REASON IS 144.4. The Standard Move is base to battlefield or battlefield to base; battlefield to battlefield needs [Ganking], which the Porter does not have (810.1.c.3: [Ganking] 'does not give additional abilities or activations of Movement, only new options for the Standard Move'). So the Porter walks out of your BASE, not out of the Bar, and the Bar's 'moves from here' never fires for him. What the Bar pays for is the body his trigger drags off the Bar.
- THE PULL IS A MOVE BY EFFECT, WHICH IS TWO PERMISSIONS THE STANDARD MOVE DOES NOT HAVE. 420.3.a puts the exhaust cost on the Standard Move only ('The Cost is Exhausting one or more Units'), so the pulled body pays nothing and may already be exhausted; and 144.4's base-to-battlefield restriction is on the Standard Move too, so the pull goes battlefield to battlefield. That is what lets a spent garrison at the Bar be re-deployed.
- ARITHMETIC WITH THE QUANTITIES DECLARED. One Main-Phase action: Standard-Move the Porter from your base to the battlefield you want (his own exhaust, 144.2). His trigger fires; pay one Chaos rune and drag a body off Back-Alley Bar to the same battlefield. The Bar sees that body move from here and gives it +1 Might this turn. Net: TWO bodies arriving at one battlefield, one of them a Might 4 Porter and the other carrying a +1, for 1 Chaos Power. back-alley-bar-forgotten-signpost-reinforcement delivers ONE body for free at Showdown speed; this delivers two, for a rune, in the Main Phase.
- IT IS MAIN-PHASE ONLY. The Porter's trigger hangs off his own move, and 144.1.b forbids the Standard Move in a Closed State, so none of this reaches a Showdown. The Signpost line is the Reaction-window answer; this is the deployment answer.
- THE TRIGGER IS 'YOU MAY PAY', SO THE RUNE IS THE TRIGGER'S BASE COST. 383.3.b makes a cost written immediately after a Triggered Ability's opening 'you may' the ability's base cost, and 383.3.b.1 pays it to finalize the trigger onto the Chain — so the Chaos Power has to be banked BEFORE the move, not found afterwards. 167 empties the Rune Pool at the start of your Main Phase, so this is Power raised inside the same Main Phase.
- AND THE +1 EXPIRES. 317.2.c takes it back at the end-of-turn Cleanup, so it is worth exactly the combat it was shipped into; 465.2.c reads Might at assignment.
- 204.3.a IS THE FIRST AND CLEANER SOURCE FOR THIS, AND IT CARRIES THE WORKED EXAMPLE: "When Costs within Instructions appear as the first part of the effect in triggered abilities, the cost is taken to be the base cost of the triggered ability. It must be paid to finalize the triggered ability", with Riot's example being Overzealous Fan - "When I defend, you may kill me to move an attacking unit to its base" - and the note that "in order to finalize the ability to the chain, its controller must kill Overzealous Fan". 383.3.b says the same thing later in the book. The companion is 204.3.b: a cost appearing in a SPELL, in an ACTIVATED ability, or in a LATER part of a trigger's effect is paid on resolution instead, which is the 205 "pay X. If you do, Y" family and the reason the two look alike on the card and behave differently on the chain.
Steps
- Bring Back-Alley Bar as one of your three battlefields (485.4.a), control it, and garrison it.
- Keep Fae Porter at your base, ready.
- In your Main Phase, bank one Chaos Power, then Standard-Move the Porter from your base to the battlefield you want to reinforce (144.2, 144.4).
- His trigger goes on the Chain; pay the Chaos rune as its base cost (383.3.b, 383.3.b.1).
- Move a body off Back-Alley Bar to the same battlefield. The move is by effect, so it pays no exhaust and needs no [Ganking] (420.3.a, 810.1.c.3).
- Back-Alley Bar sees that body move from here and gives it +1 Might this turn; two bodies are now at the target battlefield. Repeat next turn by walking the Porter home first.
Per iteration
two bodies delivered to one battlefield in a single Main-Phase action, one of them with +1 Might, for one Chaos Power
How it ends
engine only — one delivery per Porter move per turn, and the +1 expires at the end-of-turn Cleanup (317.2.c); nothing here scores

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #168, matrix group 19, friendly-moves x OGN-277, second partner). Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened: 103.1.b.3, 103.2.d.2, 144.1.b, 144.2, 144.4, 167, 317.2.c, 383.3.b, 383.3.b.1, 420.3.a, 465.2.c, 485.4.a, 485.5, 810.1.c.3. Distinct from back-alley-bar-forgotten-signpost-reinforcement (one body, free, Showdown speed) and from kayn-back-alley-bar-double-move (one body's SECOND move, collecting the +1 once): this delivers two bodies in one Main-Phase action for one Chaos Power. Distinct from svellsongur-fae-porter-relay, which copies the Porter's trigger rather than collecting a battlefield's departure rider. Ban check: neither card is banned or restricted. Trap check: the Porter can never collect the Bar's +1 himself, because 144.4 keeps his Standard Move off a battlefield-to-battlefield leg and he has no [Ganking] — stated first; the rune is a finalization cost (383.3.b.1) and must be banked before the move; the line is Main-Phase only (144.1.b); the +1 expires; no unruled reading.
