The Bar pays on the DEPARTURE, so the Signpost delivers a +1 Might reinforcement into a showdown every turn, for nothing
Pieces
- Back-Alley Bar ×1
OGN-277 · battlefield
When a unit moves from here, give it +1 Might this turn.
- Forgotten Signpost ×1
UNL-045 · engine · calm
[Action][>] Exhaust a unit you control, Exhaust: Move a different unit you control to the location of the unit you exhausted to pay for this ability.
Payoff
Deck
- Any Calm legend: Forgotten Signpost is mono-Calm (103.1.b.3) and Back-Alley Bar is colourless. Neither is a Signature card, so 103.2.d.2 forces no legend.
- Neither card is banned or restricted in either format.
- Back-Alley Bar is one of your three battlefields (485.4.a: three provided, 1 used; 485.5 makes it random in a Duel), and you want to CONTROL it and garrison it, because the units that pay are the ones LEAVING it.
- You need a second unit standing at the destination, because the Signpost's cost is exhausting a unit and its effect moves 'a different unit' to that unit's location — 420.1 defines Moving 'between two Locations', so the fuel has to be somewhere the mover is not.
Prerequisites
- THE BAR PAYS ON DEPARTURE, WHICH IS THE ONLY THING THAT MAKES IT USEFUL HERE. 'When a unit moves FROM here.' A body walked INTO the Bar gets nothing; a body sent OUT of it arrives at its destination one Might larger for that turn. So the Bar is a staging post: park bodies there, and every one you ship out is a 'this turn' +1.
- THE SIGNPOST IS A MOVE BY EFFECT, AND THAT IS THREE SEPARATE PERMISSIONS. 420.3.a puts the exhaust cost on the STANDARD move only ('The Cost is Exhausting one or more Units'), so a unit moved by the Signpost pays nothing and may already be exhausted; 144.4 restricts only the Standard Move to base-to-battlefield, so the Signpost goes battlefield to battlefield; and 810.1.c.3 ('It does not give additional abilities or activations of Movement, only new options for the Standard Move') is why [Ganking] is not an alternative route — it widens the Standard Move, it does not grant one. This is the same fact #58 established, spent on the battlefield that was printed to reward moving.
- [Action] IS WHY THE +1 LANDS WHERE IT MATTERS. 806.1.b: 'Action grants the corresponding card or effect permission to be played or activated during Showdowns, even when it is not the Controlling player's turn.' So the reinforcement can be shipped into a Showdown or a Combat that is already open, and 465.2.c reads Might at assignment — the +1 is counted. On your own turn it is a free extra body at the fight.
- ARITHMETIC WITH THE QUANTITIES DECLARED. Per turn: one body moved from the Bar to the destination with +1 Might this turn, at Showdown speed, for 0 Energy and 0 Power. The cost is the exhaust of the unit standing at the destination (which is the price of the Signpost's own ability, not of the move) and the Signpost's own exhaust — both refunded at your Awaken (315.1.b). Setup is 2 Energy, once.
- ONE A TURN, AND THE +1 EXPIRES. The Signpost exhausts itself, so a second delivery in the same turn needs a second copy (103.2.b allows three), and 317.2.c expires every 'this turn' effect at the end-of-turn Cleanup, so the +1 has to be re-earned by another departure.
- IT DOES NOT STACK ON ONE BODY. To collect the Bar's +1 twice on the same unit it would have to return to the Bar and leave again — two moves, and the Signpost only supplies one a turn. kayn-back-alley-bar-double-move is the entry for the case where a single body's SECOND move is the payoff; this one is about a different body every turn.
Bodies no card supplies
Bring Back-Alley Bar as one of your three battlefields (485.4.a) and take control of it; keep a body or two garrisoned there
Steps
- Bring Back-Alley Bar as one of your three battlefields (485.4.a) and take control of it; keep a body or two garrisoned there.
- Play Forgotten Signpost (2 Energy) and keep a unit standing at the battlefield you intend to reinforce.
- When the fight opens there — your own attack, or a Showdown on either player's turn (806.1.b) — activate the Signpost: exhaust the unit at the destination, exhaust the Signpost.
- Move a unit from Back-Alley Bar to that unit's location. The move is by effect, so it pays no exhaust of its own (420.3.a) and needs no [Ganking] (810.1.c.3).
- The Bar sees a unit move from here and gives it +1 Might this turn; it arrives at the fight one Might larger, and 465.2.c reads that Might when damage is assigned.
- The Signpost and the exhausted unit both ready at your next Awakening Phase (315.1.b); repeat every turn.
Per iteration
one body delivered battlefield-to-battlefield at Showdown speed with +1 Might, every turn, for no cards and no mana
How it ends
engine only — one delivery a turn per Signpost (three copies by 103.2.b), and the +1 Might expires at the end-of-turn Cleanup (317.2.c); nothing here scores

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #168, matrix group 19, friendly-moves x OGN-277). Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened: 103.1.b.3, 103.2.b, 103.2.d.2, 144.4, 315.1.b, 317.2.c, 420.1, 420.3.a, 465.2.c, 485.4.a, 485.5, 806.1.b, 810.1.c.3. Distinct from kayn-back-alley-bar-double-move, which spends the Bar on a single body's SECOND move to switch on damage immunity and collects the +1 once: here the Bar is a staging post that pays a different body every turn, and the delivery is at Showdown speed. The Signpost's three other entries (signpost-corina-two-battlefields, conscription-signpost-empty-garrison, covert-informant-signpost-move-draw) spend the move on a garrison trick, an evacuation and a draw; none of them collects a Might rider. Ban check: neither card is banned or restricted. Trap check: the Bar pays on departure only and the entry says so twice; the move is by effect and therefore free of 420.3.a's exhaust; [Ganking] is explicitly NOT the route (810.1.c.3); the Signpost's fuel unit must stand elsewhere (420.1); the +1 expires (317.2.c); no unruled reading.
