One facedown per battlefield is the real cap on the whole [Hidden] family — Bandle Tree is the only card that lifts it, and Blastcone Fae is why you want two
Pieces
- Bandle Tree ×1
OGN-278 · battlefield
You may hide an additional card here.
- Blastcone Fae ×3
OGN-097 · payoff · mind
[Hidden] (Hide now for 1 Power of any domain to react with later for 0 Energy.) When you play me, give a unit -2 Might this turn, to a minimum of 1 Might.
- Teemo, Strategist ×3
OGN-121 · payoff · mind
[Hidden] (Hide now for 1 Power of any domain to react with later for 0 Energy.) When I defend, choose an enemy unit here and reveal the top 5 cards of your Main Deck. Deal 1 to that unit for each card with [Hidden] revealed this way, then recycle the revealed cards.
Payoff
Deck
- Blastcone Fae and Teemo, Strategist are both mono-Mind and Bandle Tree is Colorless, so 103.1.b.1 is satisfied by any legend with Mind as one of its two domains. Neither unit is Signature, so 103.2.d.2 imposes nothing.
- The battlefield is not guaranteed: 485.4.a has each player provide three and 485.5 randomly selects one, and 103.4.c forbids duplicates of a name — so the Tree arrives one time in three.
Prerequisites
- THE CAP IS THE BOARD, NOT THE DECK, AND ALMOST EVERY [HIDDEN] LINE MISPRICES IT. 811.1.b: you may 'hide this facedown at a battlefield you control that doesn't already have a facedown card hidden there'. With 485.4 putting two battlefields on a Duel table, that is at most two hidden cards in play however many copies 103.2.b allows — and only ONE at any single battlefield. Bandle Tree is the only card in the pool that changes the number.
- AND THAT IS WHY THE SECOND SLOT IS WORTH A BATTLEFIELD. `OGN-121 Teemo, Strategist` has to BE on the board when the opponent attacks, so it is played out and its facedown slot is free again — but a defensive package that wants a body AND a trick waiting at the same battlefield cannot have both without the Tree.
- 811.1.d.2's WORKED EXAMPLE IS BLASTCONE FAE, AND IT CUTS FOR YOU HERE: 'Because this is a play effect, its target must be chosen from among units at the same battlefield if Blastcone Fae was played from Hidden.' On defence that restriction costs nothing — the attacker is standing there — and the Fae arrives for 0 Energy at [Reaction] speed (811.1.b's tail) as a 2 Might body as well.
- SHRINKING AN ATTACKER IS PAID TWICE OVER IN THE DAMAGE STEP. 465.2.c has each side assign damage equal to their SUMMED Might, so -2 removes 2 from what is coming at you; and 465.2.c.4 caps assignment at the minimum lethal, so it also makes that body 2 cheaper to kill.
- THE FLOOR IS PART OF THE PRICE. '-2, to a minimum of 1' is a FLOORED reduction, and 477.3.b caps the reduction rather than the result — so it sends M to max(1, M - 2) and is worth its full 2 only against a body of Might 3 or more. An unfloored reducer such as `SFD-066 Frigid Touch` takes a small body all the way to 0.
- THE TREE ARMS THE OPPONENT TOO. 'You may hide an additional card here' says nothing about whose card, so if they control it they get the same second slot. It is a symmetric offer that only pays the deck built to use it.
- AND 811.1.d.2 ONLY BINDS THE HIDDEN CARD. Teemo's defend trigger is his own Triggered Ability watching an event, not a play effect of a hidden card, so it reaches anywhere the wording allows — the asymmetry that is half the value of the whole family.
- IT DOES NOT SCORE. What the package buys is a defence the opponent could not see and did not price.
- 424.1.a.2 is the MECHANISM under the 431.1.c protection this entry already cites, and the entry carries the consequence without it: "Cards remain in the zone they are being Revealed from." Riot's own example is that a card Revealed from the top of the Main Deck "is still the top card of that player's Main Deck." So revealing can never Burn Out because NOTHING LEAVES THE DECK, which 424.1.a states as the general fact: "Revealed is a temporary state and is not a zone." Same shape this file records for 355.7 against 355.10.d and 811.6 against the tail of 811.1.b.
Steps
- Bring Bandle Tree as one of your three battlefields and take Control of it.
- On one turn, hide a Blastcone Fae face down there for one rainbow Power (811.1.b). Normally that fills the battlefield's only facedown slot.
- The Tree's 'You may hide an additional card here' opens a second: hide Teemo, Strategist as well, or play Teemo out and keep a second trick hidden.
- From the following turn both hidden cards carry [Reaction] and cost 0 (811.1.b's tail), and 813.1.c.1 admits them 'during Closed States on any player's turn'.
- The opponent attacks. If Teemo is on the board he takes the Defender designation (464.2.c.3) and his trigger reveals five cards, dealing 1 to a chosen enemy unit per [Hidden] card among them — 431.1.c means that reveal can never Burn you Out.
- Play Blastcone Fae from face down for 0. Its play effect gives an attacker -2 Might this turn, chosen at this battlefield per 811.1.d.2, and the Fae itself arrives as a 2 Might body which 464.2.c.3.a puts in the combat at the next Cleanup.
- 465.2.c now sums an attack 2 Might lighter against a defence one body heavier, and 465.2.c.4 makes the shrunk body cheaper to kill.
How it ends
engine only — two facedown cards live at one battlefield instead of one, each costing a rainbow up front and 0 to play; the Fae is -2 and a body, Teemo is up to 5 damage on a defend, and nothing here scores

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07, issue #170, from `bandle-tree-hidden` and the Core-Rules-named sweep; OGN-097 Blastcone Fae was in zero entries and is 811.1.d.2's worked example. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. The content is that 811.1.b's one-facedown-per-battlefield clause, not 103.2.b, is what caps every [Hidden] line in the pool, and Bandle Tree is the only lift. Trap check: the Fae's floor is priced against 477.3.b so the -2 is not claimed against a Might-2 body; the Tree's symmetry is stated; 811.1.d.2 is shown to bind the hidden card and NOT Teemo's own trigger; 485.5 and 103.4.c are cited for the battlefield's randomness; 431.1.c keeps the five reveals safe.
