811.2 - only the CHOICES a hidden card makes are confined, so Bushwhack's board-wide 'enter ready' reaches Mechs born at your base
Pieces
- Bushwhack ×3
SFD-004 · enabler · fury
[Hidden] (Hide now for 1 Power of any domain to react with later for 0 Energy.) Friendly units enter ready this turn. Play a Gold gear token exhausted.
- Ferrous Forerunner ×3
SFD-021 · engine · fury
[Deathknell] — Play two 3 Might Mech unit tokens to your base. (When I die, get the effect.)
Payoff
Deck
- Both cards are mono-Fury, so 103.1.b.1 is satisfied by any legend carrying Fury - the census gives sixteen names, among them Relentless Storm (OGN-249), Hand of Noxus (OGN-253), Dark Child - Starter (OGS-017), Mechanized Menace (SFD-181), Virtuoso (UNL-181) and Rogue Assassin (VEN-139).
- Neither card is Signature (checked against data/cards.json), so 103.2.d.2 narrows nothing, and neither appears in data/legality.json in either format.
- A battlefield you control, hidden a turn in advance - 811.1.b allows one facedown card per battlefield and 485.4 puts two on a Duel table.
Prerequisites
- 811.2 WAS CITED BY NOTHING AND IT IS THE WHOLE ENTRY: 'Abilities and instructions of hidden cards other than the choices listed above function as normal.' Riot's worked example names a pool card - 'Stand United is a spell that has Hidden and "Buff a friendly unit. Buffs give an additional +1 might to friendly units this turn." If it's played from Hidden, the first part of its ability must choose a friendly unit at the same battlefield, but the second part of its ability affects all friendly units with buffs, no matter where they are.' Bushwhack has that shape with no first part at all: 'Friendly units enter ready this turn' chooses nothing and names no location, so it reaches your base and both battlefields.
- WHAT 811.1.d ACTUALLY CONFINES, CLAUSE BY CLAUSE, AND WHY NONE OF IT BITES HERE. 811.1.d.1: 'A hidden permanent must be played to that battlefield.' 811.1.d.2 confines the TARGETS of a hidden spell or of a hidden permanent's play effect. 811.1.d.3: 'If a hidden spell or a play effect of a hidden permanent causes you to play a unit, you must choose to play that unit at that battlefield.' Bushwhack is a spell, so .d.1 is silent; it chooses nothing, so .d.2 is silent; and the only thing it plays is a Gold GEAR token, which .d.3 does not reach because that clause says 'unit'.
- THE PRICE IS ONE RAINBOW, A TURN EARLY, AND THEN IT IS FREE AND FAST. 811.1.b buys the hide. 811.6: 'A card that is Hidden gains Reaction while facedown or played from facedown, and may be played any time a card with Reaction may be played as a result' - so a card that prints no timing keyword at all becomes a 0-Energy Reaction on any player's turn (813.1.c.1). 811.3 keeps the ordinary line open too: 'Instead of being hidden, a card with Hidden may be played for its cost as normal, at its normal timing with no restrictions on targeting' - 2 Energy + 1 Fury Power, main phase, by 155.
- WHAT IT IS FIXING, AND HOW WIDE IT IS. 143.4: 'Units enter the Board exhausted', with 143.4.a: 'This can be altered by Accelerate or similar game effects.' Bushwhack is such an effect and is the WIDEST in the pool for the turn it covers - SFD-171 Renata Glasc, Industrialist reaches only tokens and OGN-011 Magma Wurm only OTHER friendly units, while this reaches everything you play that turn, the Forerunner's own tokens included. 185.2.d puts a token inside the rules for its type and 187.4 gives the Mech token its tag by rule, so the tokens are units for this purpose.
- THE ARITHMETIC OF THE FIX. The Deathknell plays two 3-Might Mechs 'to your base'. Exhausted, they are stranded for a turn: 144.2 charges the Standard Move an exhaust and 420.3.a puts that cost on the Standard Move alone. Ready, they walk that same Main Phase, and 144.3 moves both in one action to a shared destination. Six Might arrives on the turn the Forerunner dies rather than on the turn after - which is the turn the opponent's sweepers get their window.
- THE ORDERING, AND WHY IT IS NOT A FINALIZATION TRAP. Bushwhack's grant is a resolved continuous effect lasting the turn, not a cost paid to finalize a trigger, so 383.3.b / 204.3.a never engage: it may be played before the Forerunner dies, or in response to the Deathknell trigger inside the Closed State that trigger opens (312.2.c), where 340.1 resolves the newest Finalized item first and the grant lands before the tokens are made. Either ordering works, which is unusual in this catalogue and is why it is stated.
- THE GOLD IS NOT MANA THIS TURN. 187.5 prints the Gold gear token as '[Reaction][>] Kill this, [E]: [Add] [A]' and Bushwhack plays it EXHAUSTED, so it cannot pay its own cost until your next Awakening (415.3.a) - unless SFD-171 Renata Glasc, Industrialist is out, which 103.1.b keeps out of a mono-Fury shell. Count it as next turn's Power, not this turn's.
Steps
- On an earlier turn, in your own Open State, pay one rainbow Power to hide Bushwhack face down at a battlefield you control (811.1.b).
- On the turn you intend the Forerunner to die, play Bushwhack from face down for 0 Energy. 811.6 gives it Reaction while facedown, so this may be done on either player's turn and inside a Closed State (813.1.c.1).
- 811.2 keeps its two instructions unconfined: it chooses nothing, so 811.1.d.2 has nothing to restrict, and the Gold it plays is a gear, so 811.1.d.3 does not send it to that battlefield.
- 'Friendly units enter ready this turn' now overrides 143.4 for everything you play for the rest of the turn (143.4.a).
- Let Ferrous Forerunner die. Its Deathknell plays two 3-Might Mech unit tokens to your base - ready, not exhausted.
- Standard-move both to a battlefield in one action (144.3, 144.4), paying each token's own exhaust (144.2). Six Might lands the same turn it was made.
Per iteration
one turn of board-wide enter-ready for 0 Energy, converting two base-bound exhausted Mech tokens into six Might at a battlefield the same turn
How it ends
engine - two 3-Might Mechs that can walk the turn they are born, plus a Gold for next turn's Power, for one rainbow paid a turn early; nothing here scores

811.2, 811.3 and 811.6 were uncited by data/combos.json and data/synergies.json before this entry. A finding that belongs to an EXISTING entry rather than this one is recorded in the walk document: peak-guardian-stand-united-hidden-garrison-pump reasons the same split out of 811.1.d.2 by argument, and 811.2 is the paragraph that states it outright - with OGN-053 Stand United as its worked example, by name. That is a citation upgrade, not a second entry. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. No unruled reading.
