Combo · ENGINE
A Predict followed by a narrower look is the one thing in the pool that turns a draw probability into a certainty
Pieces
- Clairvoyance ×3
VEN-056 · engine · mind
[Reaction] (Play any time, even before spells and abilities resolve.) [Predict 5]. (Look at the top 5 cards of your Main Deck. Recycle any of them and put the rest back in any order.) Draw 2.
- Fate Weaver ×3
UNL-064 · payoff · mind
When you play me, look at the top 4 cards of your Main Deck. You may reveal a spell with Energy cost 4 Energy or more from among them and draw it. Recycle the rest.
Payoff
Deck
- Both cards are mono-Mind, so 103.1.b.3 admits any legend with Mind in its pair.
- Neither card is banned or restricted in either format, and neither is a Signature card.
- At least one spell of Energy cost 4 or more left in the Main Deck for the Weaver to find - the Predict can put it on top, but it cannot create it.
Prerequisites
- THE STANDING CLAIM THIS ENTRY REFINES. This project has recorded that 'no deck-manipulation card in the pool turns a draw probability into a certainty', because 416.1 and 416.1.a recycle to the BOTTOM and nothing tutors a named card. That is true of any single card. It is not true of a [Predict N] followed by a look at M cards with M <= N: 436.1.a says the predicting player 'looks at that many cards and Recycles any number of them before putting the rest back on top of their Main Deck in any order', so after [Predict 5] you know and control the top five - and Fate Weaver's look at the top 4 is strictly inside that window. The find is certain, not likely.
- AND THE ORDER OF THE TWO CARDS IS WHAT MAKES IT WORK. Clairvoyance is [Reaction] (813.1.c.1: 'This can be played during Closed States on any player's turn'), so the Predict can be done on the OPPONENT's turn and the arrangement survives into your Main Phase - nothing shuffles between. The Weaver is a unit and a Main Phase play, so it always comes second.
- NEITHER CARD CAN BURN YOU OUT ON THE LOOK. 431.1.c keeps looking and revealing free of Burn Out, and 436.4 with 436.4.a is explicit for this action: 'If a player attempts to Predict more cards than are available in their Main Deck, they will Predict as many as possible instead. The Player will not perform a Burn Out as a result of Predicting with too few cards in their deck.' The Weaver's 'Recycle the rest' is a recycle and not a mill, so 431.1.b never fires either. The only Burn Out risk in the pair is Clairvoyance's own 'Draw 2' (431.1.a) with an empty deck.
- PREDICT IS LOOKING AND THE WEAVER'S FIND IS A REVEAL, WHICH ARE DIFFERENT ACTS. 436.1 defines Predicting as 'the act of looking at a single card from the top of the Main Deck and choosing whether or not to Recycle it', while 424.1 makes Revealing 'the act of presenting a card to all players from a zone that one or more players do not have access to the information of'. So the Weaver's reveal is public and a Predict is not - which matters only if something in the deck reads a reveal, and is stated here so the two are not conflated.
- THE COST, HONESTLY. 7 Energy for the Predict and 5 more for the Weaver is twelve Energy across two turns for one guaranteed spell and three cards. Clairvoyance pays two of those back on its own, so the marginal price of the guarantee is the Weaver's body - a 4 Might unit you were going to play anyway. Three of each by 103.2.b.
- AND A TRAP ON THE LEGEND SIDE IF THE SHELL IS CALM/MIND. VEN-145 Curator of the Sands reads 'When you play a unit, gear, or activated ability with Energy cost :rb_energy_7: or more, you may exhaust me to ready up to 2 runes.' Clairvoyance costs exactly 7 and does NOT trigger her, because it is a spell and her clause names a unit, gear or activated ability. Fate Weaver at 5 does not reach the threshold either.
- WHAT IT IS NOT. Nothing here scores; 469 defines Scoring as Conquer or Hold. And the guarantee is only as good as what is left in the deck - the Predict arranges, it never creates.
Steps
- Hold Clairvoyance. Its [Reaction] permission (813.1.c.1) lets you cast it on the opponent's turn, so the arrangement is already made when your Main Phase starts.
- Cast it (7 Energy): [Predict 5] - look at the top five, recycle what you do not want, and put the rest back IN ANY ORDER (436.1.a). Leave a spell of Energy cost 4 or more on top. Then draw 2.
- On your turn play Fate Weaver (5 Energy). Its trigger looks at the top 4 - a subset of the five you just ordered.
- Reveal the spell you left there and draw it. The rest are recycled to the bottom (416.1.a), which costs nothing you did not already choose.
- Neither half can Burn Out on the look (436.4.a, 431.1.c); only Clairvoyance's own Draw 2 can, and only with an empty deck (431.1.a).
Per iteration
three cards and one GUARANTEED spell of Energy cost 4 or more, for 12 Energy across two turns
How it ends
engine only - three of each card by 103.2.b, and the guarantee needs a qualifying spell still in the deck; nothing here scores

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #188). The first entry to use VEN-056 Clairvoyance or UNL-064 Fate Weaver. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened and quoted: 103.1.b.3, 103.2.b, 416.1, 416.1.a, 424.1, 431.1.a, 431.1.b, 431.1.c, 436.1, 436.1.a, 436.4, 436.4.a, 469, 813.1.c.1. It REFINES a standing project claim rather than contradicting it: no single deck-manipulation card makes a draw certain, but a [Predict N] followed by a look at M <= N cards does, and the citation is 436.1.a's 'in any order'. The Curator of the Sands trap is stated for the Calm/Mind shell, since a 7-Energy spell looks like it should trigger her E7 clause and does not. Ban check: neither card is banned or restricted; neither is a Signature card. No unruled reading.
