Combo · ENGINE
Convergent Mutation copies an inflated Might onto a second body, at Reaction speed
Pieces
- Convergent Mutation ×1
OGN-108 · engine · mind
[Reaction] (Play any time, even before spells and abilities resolve.) Choose a friendly unit. This turn, increase its Might to the Might of another friendly unit.
- Dr. Mundo, Expert ×1
OGN-109 · payoff · mind
My Might is increased by the number of cards in your trash. At the start of your Beginning Phase, recycle 3 from your trash.
Payoff
Deck
- Both cards are Mind, so any legend with Mind works; the source builds it under Teemo, Swift Scout, whose Chaos half also supports the Ember Monk variant below.
Prerequisites
- IT IS A REACTION, WHICH IS WHERE THE VALUE IS. 813.1.c.1 lets a [Reaction] card be played 'during Closed States on any player's turn', so the copy happens after blockers, after triggers, inside a showdown - the source's own framing is 'a really good combat trick', not a build-around.
- IT READS CURRENT MIGHT, NOT PRINTED MIGHT. 710: 'Units on the board are evaluated according to their current Might.' So Mundo's trash-driven number, or any buff already applied, is what gets copied. 477.1.a.1 puts Might assignment in the layer that handles it, which is why 'increase its Might to the Might of' is a set-to rather than an add.
- MUNDO SPENDS THE VERY THING THAT MAKES HIM BIG. 'At the start of your Beginning Phase, recycle 3 from your trash' shrinks him by 3 every turn, so the number peaks during a turn and falls back at the start of the next. The Mutation is how you cash it before it drops.
- IT IS 'THIS TURN'. Nothing here is permanent; the copied Might expires at end of turn, so it is removal-through-combat or a save, not a board.
- THE SAME CARD DOES THE SAME JOB OFF A DIFFERENT INFLATION SOURCE, and the source names both in one breath: OGN-167 Ember Monk (Chaos, E4 M4, 'When you play a card from [Hidden], give me +2 Might this turn') in a deck that flips two or three hidden cards is the other half. #62 files those as two entries; they are one mechanism with two fuel tanks, and splitting them would duplicate a rule the way danger-zone-marai-spire would have.
- 8 Energy and 2 Power for Mundo makes this a late-game pairing; the Ember Monk version costs 4 and is the aggressive one.
Bodies no card supplies
Have a second friendly unit wherever the fight is going to be
Steps
- Dr. Mundo on a battlefield, with a full trash behind him - his Might is 6 plus the number of cards there.
- Have a second friendly unit wherever the fight is going to be.
- During a showdown or combat, play Convergent Mutation as a [Reaction] (2 Energy + 1 Power): choose the second unit and set its Might to Mundo's.
- Both are now that size for the rest of the turn. At the start of your next Beginning Phase Mundo recycles 3 and shrinks again.
- Ember Monk variant: replace Mundo with OGN-167 in a Hidden deck - every card flipped from Hidden gives him +2 Might this turn, and the Mutation copies whatever he has reached.
Per iteration
a second body at the inflated unit's Might for the turn, for 2 Energy and 1 Power, at Reaction speed
How it ends
one copy per Convergent Mutation, and it lasts the turn

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-issue62-section3.md), issue #62 section 3. All three cards - OGN-108 Convergent Mutation, OGN-109 Dr. Mundo and OGN-167 Ember Monk - appeared in NO entry before this. #62 files this as two rows, convergent-mutation-mundo and convergent-mutation-ember-monk; the walk merges them, because the mechanism is one card reading current Might (710) and the two partners are interchangeable fuel. Splitting them would have duplicated a rule the way danger-zone-marai-spire would have in section 2.6, and the same test was applied. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Trap check: no attack designation; no [Repeat]; no [Temporary]; no token; no recall; R27 is not engaged - this is not a copy effect on a Game Object, it is a Might assignment (477.1.a.1). Depends on no unruled reading.
