One damage to everything else is a token sweeper, and an unfloored -2 is how the main target gets inside the four
Pieces
- Crescent Strike ×3
UNL-072 · payoff · mind
[Action] (Play on your turn or in showdowns.) Choose a battlefield and an enemy unit there. Deal 4 to that unit and 1 to each other enemy unit there.
- Frostcoat Cub ×3
SFD-067 · engine · mind
You may pay 1 Mind Power as an additional cost to play me. When you play me, if you paid the additional cost, give a unit -2 Might this turn.
Payoff
Deck
- Both cards are mono-Mind, so 103.1.b.3 admits any legend with Mind in its pair.
- Neither card is banned or restricted in either format, and neither is a Signature card.
- One Mind Power spare for the Cub's optional additional cost - without it the body lands and the reduction does not.
Prerequisites
- THE SPELL IS TWO DIFFERENT REMOVALS IN ONE CARD. 'Deal 4 to that unit' answers a mid-sized body; '1 to each other enemy unit there' answers a garrison of 1 Might tokens - and this project has measured that a simultaneous 1 damage to every body at a battlefield kills any number of 1 Might tokens at once, which is the standing weakness of every token line in the pool. 143.2.a kills on marked damage at or above Might, so the sweep half is exact: everything at 1 Might dies, everything above it does not.
- AND THE REDUCTION IS UNFLOORED, WHICH IS THE WHOLE REASON IT IS THE PARTNER. The Cub's clause carries no 'to a minimum of 1', so it can take a 6 Might body to 4 and put it inside the spell's fixed 4 - where a floored reducer never could, since a floored effect is snapshotted by 477.3.b at the size it was aimed at and can never reduce a body below 1 anyway. The pool splits by set: nine Origins reductions are floored, the fourteen from Spiritforged, Unleashed and Vendetta are not, and this is one of the fourteen. 477.3.e.2.a applies decreases last, so the target cannot be pumped out of it within one evaluation.
- THE ORDER IS FORCED BY THE CARD TYPES, NOT BY CHOICE. The Cub is a unit and a Main Phase play; the spell is [Action] (806.1.c.1: 'This can be played during showdowns on any player's turn'). So the reduction is committed first and the spell is held - which is the right way round anyway, since the spell wants to see the final board.
- AND 143.2.b IS WHY THE CUB NEVER KILLS ANYTHING BY ITSELF. Negative Might READS as 0 for spells, abilities and combat damage but IS NOT 0, so a reduction generates no kill event: the spell has to finish it, and the entry is the division of labour.
- THE CEILING, WITH THE QUANTITIES DECLARED. 3 Energy for the Cub plus 1 Mind Power, and 3 Energy + 1 Power for the spell: the pair removes a body of up to 6 Might and sweeps every 1 Might token beside it, for 6 Energy and 2 Power. Two Cubs reach 8. Three of each by 103.2.b.
- WHAT IT IS NOT. Nothing here scores; 469 defines Scoring as Conquer or Hold. And the damage comes from the spell, not from a unit - so 417.6.b.3's Challenge exception does not apply and a blanket spell-and-ability fog DOES stop it, unlike the mutual-damage family.
Steps
- Play Frostcoat Cub (3 Energy) and pay the extra Mind Power so its trigger fires: give the intended target -2 Might this turn, with no floor.
- 477.3.e.2.a applies decreases last, so a pump in the same evaluation does not undo it.
- Play Crescent Strike (3 Energy + 1 Power) under its [Action] permission, choosing that battlefield and that unit.
- It takes 4 - lethal on anything now at 4 Might or less (143.2.a) - and every OTHER enemy unit there takes 1, which clears a garrison of 1 Might tokens simultaneously.
- With a second Cub the reach is 8 Might; without the extra Power the Cub is simply a 3 Energy 3 Might body.
Per iteration
one enemy unit of up to 6 Might removed and every 1 Might body beside it swept, for 6 Energy and 2 Power
How it ends
engine only - three of each card by 103.2.b, and the numbers are fixed at 4 and 1 so the only scaling is more reductions; nothing here scores

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #188). The first entry to use UNL-072 Crescent Strike or SFD-067 Frostcoat Cub. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Companion to icevale-archer-deadly-flourish-damage-threshold from batch 5 and the deliberate opposite of orb-of-regret-smoke-screen-floored-reduction from batch 4: an unfloored reduction can complete a kill and a floored one cannot, and all three entries name each other. Ban check: neither card is banned or restricted; neither is a Signature card. No unruled reading.
