Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Play Death from Below for 4 Energy + 1 Power. Kill a unit at a battlefield — yours or theirs.
  2. If it had 3 Might or less, the reflexive trigger goes on the chain (387.1, 388.1) while the spell finishes resolving into the trash (359.3.d).
  3. The trigger resolves: replay Death from Below out of the trash for 1 rainbow Power. It kills again.
  4. Repeat while runes and legal targets last. Each kill also satisfies Immortal Phoenix's trigger (428.5.b), so one Fury Power and one Energy returns him from the trash.

Per iteration

one kill per 1 rainbow Power after the first cast, plus one Immortal Phoenix return per time he is in the trash

How it ends

engine — one kill per rainbow Power, bounded by the 12-rune deck (103.3.a) and by targets of 3 Might or less; never unbounded

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-05 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-05-death-and-return-candidates.md), issue #36. REWRITTEN UPWARD: the issue said it had deliberately avoided the reading of Death from Below killing the Phoenix itself, because 141.1.b.2 says a unit in the trash 'cannot take actions'. There is nothing to avoid — 383.2.c.1's worked example is that exact card and that exact case, so the entry uses it and no reading is filed. The second repeatable sacrifice outlet in the pool alongside SFD-178 Blade of the Ruined King, and the only one that is a spell. Trap check: no attack designation is needed, so 807.1.d/383.4.e/461 cannot bite; no [Repeat]; no [Temporary]; no recall; no rune recycled for Power; all costs are Main Phase costs, so 167 does not bite.
