Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Play Irelia, Fervent (E5) and move her to a battlefield.
  2. Every turn she acted the turn before, 315.1.b readies her at your Awakening — which is a choosing-free +1 Might this turn, for nothing.
  3. Hold Discipline. It is [Reaction], so 813.1.c.1 lets it be played in any Closed State on either player's turn.
  4. When damage is about to be assigned (465.2.c), play Discipline choosing Irelia. Its own effect gives her +2 this turn.
  5. Her trigger sees the choosing and adds +1. Both are continuous modifiers (477.3.e.1), so she is at Might 7 for the turn — 8 if the Awakening ready already fired.
  6. The spell draws a card, so nothing has been spent but the Energy.
  7. 317.2.c expires every modifier at the end-of-turn Cleanup; the trigger has no once-a-turn clause, so a second Discipline the same turn is another +3.

How it ends

engine only — +3 Might on Irelia and a card per Discipline, three a game (103.2.b), plus a free +1 on every Awakening that readies her; everything expires at the Cleanup and nothing here scores

How this entry was audited

REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07, issue #170, from `irelia-fervent-buff-is-choosing` and the Core-Rules-named sweep; OGN-058 Discipline was in zero entries. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Trap check: [Deflect] is stated to tax only the OPPONENT (809.1.c says so in its own words), which is the asymmetry this pairing depends on; the ready half is priced against 415.1.b / 415.1.c so it is not claimed on an already-ready body, and the Awakening is named as the free repeat; the three 'choose' false-positive shapes are listed so a substitute chooser is not picked badly; everything is stated as a continuous modifier expiring at 317.2.c.
