Eclipse turns a three-Might gate into a seven-Might gate — and the floor the Origins reductions carry only bites below five
Pieces
- Eclipse ×3
UNL-063 · enabler · mind
[Reaction] (Play any time, even before spells and abilities resolve.) Give a unit -4 Might this turn. [Predict]. (Look at the top card of your Main Deck. You may recycle it.)
- Soul Harvest ×3
UNL-159 · payoff · order
Kill a unit at a battlefield with 3 Might or less.
Payoff
Deck
- Mind + Order: Eclipse is mono-Mind and Soul Harvest mono-Order (103.1.b.3), so the legend must hold both and the pool prints exactly four names — OGN-265 Herald of the Arcane, OGS-021 Lady of Luminosity, SFD-201 Chem-Baroness and UNL-199 Deceiver (103.1.b.2).
- Neither card is banned or restricted in either format, and neither is a Signature card.
- The target has to be AT a battlefield: Soul Harvest says so, and nothing in this pair reaches a body at the opponent's base.
Prerequisites
- THE GATE, WITH THE NUMBERS. Soul Harvest kills a unit 'with 3 :rb_might: or less'; Eclipse's −4 takes anything at 7 or below into that window, and 143.2.b handles the rest: 'If a unit's Might is ever less than 0, it is treated as 0 when referenced by spells and abilities'. Two Eclipses reach 11. Total price for a 7-Might body: 3 Energy plus 2 Energy and 1 Order Power — cheaper than every unconditional kill in the pool (OGN-229 Vengeance is E4 + 2 Power, OGS-012 Blast of Power E6 + 1).
- THE FLOOR IS NOT THE DIFFERENCE PEOPLE THINK IT IS, AND THIS ENTRY SAYS SO EXACTLY. A floored reduction sends M to max(1, M − 4); an unfloored one sends it to M − 4. For the KILL GATE the two are identical whenever M is 5 or more, because max(1, M−4) = M−4 there — OGN-093 Smoke Screen's floored −4 opens the same 7-Might window Eclipse does. The floor bites only at M ≤ 4, and where it really matters is COMBAT: 465.2.c sums the Might of each side, and a floored −4 leaves a 4-Might body contributing 1 while Eclipse leaves it contributing 0 (143.2.b). Use Eclipse to erase a body from a combat sum; use either to open the gate.
- 143.2.b.1 IS THE COMPANION AND IT CUTS THE OTHER WAY. 'Although the unit's Might is treated as 0, it is not 0. Effects that calculate Might increases and decreases use the actual value of the unit's Might.' So a body Eclipsed to −1 needs FIVE Might of pumping to get back to 4, not one — and 477.3.c's own worked example is Eclipse blanking a Last Stand for exactly this reason.
- 477.3.e.2.a MEANS THE REDUCTION ALWAYS WINS THE RACE. 'Negative values, or decreases, to Might are applied last.' So an opponent who responds to Eclipse with a pump does not save the body from the gate — the +N is applied in the increase sublayer and the −4 after it. The only real answer is to move the unit off the battlefield before Soul Harvest resolves, or to pay Soul Harvest's [Deflect] tax back at you (809.1.c: both spells CHOOSE their target, so a [Deflect] body costs a rainbow more each time).
- THE TIMING IS THE CONSTRAINT, AND IT IS ASYMMETRIC. Eclipse is [Reaction] and 813.1.b gives Reaction 'all abilities and permissions of Action', so it can be cast in a Showdown on either turn. Soul Harvest carries NEITHER keyword, so 155 confines it to 'an Open State outside of Showdowns on its controller's turn'. The pair therefore executes in YOUR Main Phase: Eclipse first, Soul Harvest second, both inside the same turn while the −4 is still live (317.2.c expires it at the end-of-turn Cleanup). You cannot Eclipse inside the opponent's attack and finish the kill there.
- THE SAME GATE IS PRINTED TWICE MORE, AT DIFFERENT PRICES. VEN-127 Lacerate (Order, E2 + 1 Power, 'Choose a unit. If it's [Empowered], disempower it. Then kill it if it has 3 :rb_might: or less', plus [Flow] for a second play out of the trash) and SFD-158 Sandshifter (Order, E5 + 2 Power, the same gate stapled to a 6 Might body). They are the same mechanism at a different cost, so they are the family behind this row rather than three separate entries.
- AND THE PREDICT RIDES ALONG FOR FREE. Eclipse's '[Predict]' is 436.1 — look at the top card and choose whether to recycle it — and 436.4.a keeps it Burn-Out-safe on an empty deck; 416.1 sends what it recycles to the bottom, so it filters and never tutors.
Steps
- In your Main Phase, pick the enemy unit you want dead. It must be at a battlefield.
- Play Eclipse for 3 Energy: give it −4 Might this turn. 477.3.e.2.a applies the decrease last, so any pump the opponent answers with does not save it.
- A body at 7 or less now reads 3 or less (143.2.b treats a negative as 0).
- Play Soul Harvest for 2 Energy + 1 Order Power and kill it.
- Repeat with the remaining copies; 103.2.b caps each at three, so the pair answers three bodies a game.
- If the target carries [Deflect], budget one extra rainbow Power per spell (809.1.c) — both of them choose it.
Per iteration
one enemy body of up to 7 Might killed for 5 Energy and 1 Order Power, plus a Predict
How it ends
engine only — three Eclipses and three Soul Harvests, each consumed, so three answers a game; nothing here scores

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #174, the uncatalogued Calm/Mind/Order lane). UNL-063 Eclipse and UNL-159 Soul Harvest were both in NO entry before this. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened: 103.1.b.2, 103.1.b.3, 103.2.b, 103.2.d.2, 143.2.b, 143.2.b.1, 155, 317.2.c, 416.1, 436.1, 436.4.a, 465.2.c, 477.3.c, 477.3.e.2.a, 809.1.c, 813.1.b. CORRECTION THE WALK MADE TO ITS OWN FIRST READING: the project's note that the Origins reductions carry a floor and the later ones do not is true, but the floor does NOT change the kill gate — max(1, M−4) = M−4 for every M of 5 or more, so a floored Smoke Screen opens the same 7-Might window. The floor matters in a COMBAT SUM (465.2.c), where it leaves 1 Might behind, and in 143.2.b.1's arithmetic for anything that later pumps the body. Stated on the row so the next session does not re-derive the wrong distinction. Ban check: neither card is banned or restricted. Trap check: the timing is asymmetric — Eclipse is [Reaction] and Soul Harvest is neither [Action] nor [Reaction], so 155 confines the pair to your own Main Phase; [Deflect] taxes both halves; VEN-127 Lacerate and SFD-158 Sandshifter are named as the same gate at other prices rather than written as separate rows; no unruled reading.
