Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains must cover Fury and Chaos; Loose Cannon is one of twelve, and it is the legend the line wants anyway.
- No battlefield of its own.
Prerequisites
- 422.1.b IS THE WHOLE ENTRY, QUOTED IN FULL: "'When I am discarded' abilities or other Triggered Abilities that trigger on discarding are executed after discarding has occurred." So Flame Chompers has already reached the Trash when its own trigger says 'play me'. The discard is not a cost the line pays, it is the delivery mechanism.
- THE ONE FURY POWER IS THE WHOLE PRICE, AND THE POOL PROVES IT BY CONTRAST. Flame Chompers says 'you may pay [R Fury] to play me' and stops there. SFD-150 Last Rites, which also plays a unit out of the trash, spells out '(You still pay its costs.)'. Riot writes that clause when it means it, so a 3 Energy 3 Might unit arrives for one Fury Power.
- 422.1.a IS WHY THE DISCARD IS NEVER A LOSS AND NEVER FREE. 'The player who is performing the action chooses which cards to send to their Trash, and may use Private Information to do so.' Chemtech Enforcer's and Jinx's discards are yours to aim: with a Chompers in hand the discard is upside, and with none it is a real card. That is the honest cost of the line, and it is the reason Loose Cannon is in it.
- ARITHMETIC WITH THE QUANTITIES DECLARED. Chemtech Enforcer: 2 Energy for a 2 Might [Assault 2] body, and the discard puts out a 3 Might body for 1 Fury Power. Two bodies, 5 Might, for 2 Energy and 1 Power. Jinx, Demolitionist: 3 Energy + 1 Power for a 4 Might [Assault 2] body and TWO discards, so up to two Chompers for 2 Fury Power — three bodies and 10 Might for 3 Energy and 3 Power.
- THE ROCKET IS THE ONLY RECURSION, AND IT IS PER CONQUER. 'When you conquer, you may discard 1 to return this from your trash to your hand' — so one Conquer both deploys a Chompers for 1 Fury Power and refunds the 4 Energy spell. The spell still costs 4 Energy + 1 Power to cast again, so this is a card-for-card engine, not an Energy one.
- THE CEILING IS THREE, AND IT IS HARD. 103.2.b caps Flame Chompers at 3, the trigger only fires from a DISCARD (which is from hand, 422.1), and nothing in this line returns a Chompers from the trash to hand. Once the third one is on the board the discards go back to costing real cards.
- [Assault] NEEDS AN ATTACKER DESIGNATION AND THE ENTRY DOES NOT CLAIM ONE. Both discard bodies carry [Assault 2], which is '+2 [M] while I'm an attacker'; that only exists inside a Combat with an enemy garrison (807.1.d, 383.4.e, 461). The Might figures above are the printed ones.
Steps
- Hold a Flame Chompers. Play Chemtech Enforcer for 2 Energy, or Jinx, Demolitionist for 3 Energy + 1 Power.
- Its play trigger discards; 422.1.a lets you choose, so send Flame Chompers.
- 422.1.b executes the Chompers trigger after the discard has happened, from the trash: pay 1 Fury Power and it comes out as a 3 Might unit.
- With Jinx, do it twice in one play if you hold two Chompers.
- Cast Super Mega Death Rocket (4 Energy + 1 Power) to kill something; when you conquer, discard the next Chompers to return the Rocket to your hand — one Conquer buys a body and a spell.
- Loose Cannon draws you back up at the start of your Beginning Phase whenever the line has emptied your hand.
Per iteration
a 3 Might body for 1 Fury Power on every discard that can find a Flame Chompers, plus the Rocket returning to hand on every Conquer
How it ends
engine only — three Flame Chompers and no route back from the trash to hand, so the discount runs three times; after that the discards cost real cards again

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-issue89-tournament-corpus.md), issue #89 candidate 4 (130-156 registered lists). All five cards appeared in NO entry before this. The hunt is right that the discard/trash lens is not among the swept ones and that 422.1.b is what holds it up; THE WALK'S ADDITION is the price and the ceiling. The price: Flame Chompers prints no '(You still pay its costs.)' where SFD-150 Last Rites does, so one Fury Power is the whole cost of a 3 Energy body — the contrast inside the pool is the evidence. The ceiling: the trigger fires only on a DISCARD, which 422.1 defines as moving a card from HAND to trash, and nothing in the line returns a Chompers from the trash to hand, so 103.2.b's three copies are a hard stop. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened: 103.2.b, 383.4.e, 422.1, 422.1.a, 422.1.b, 461, 807.1.d. Ban check: none of the five carries a [BANNED marker. Trap check: [Assault] needs an Attacker designation and no Might figure here assumes one; no [Repeat]; no [Temporary]; no token, so 185/186.1 never arise; no recall; no Gold; no battlefield of its own. Depends on no unruled reading.
