Deck
- Legend domains must cover Calm and Order — OGN-261 Radiant Dawn, SFD-247 Emperor of the Sands, UNL-195 / UNL-233 Green Father, VEN-147 Eye of Twilight.
Prerequisites
- READY MATTERS HERE AND IT DOES NOT MATTER FOR EVERY TOKEN, WHICH IS THE POINT OF THE ROW. A unit token made on the opponent's turn gains nothing from Renata by itself: 144.1.b forbids the Standard Move during a Closed State, and an exhausted defender still fights at its full Might (#61 — 464.2.c.3 and 465.2.b do not filter by state). What ready buys is the FOLLOWING Main Phase before your Awaken has run, and, more importantly here, any ability with an exhaust in its cost. Read that boundary before assuming Renata upgrades a token.
- The Birds' value is the body count and the [Deflect] tax, not their state: 809.1.c makes an opponent pay 1 rainbow Power to choose a [Deflect] unit with a spell or ability and 809.1.c.1 lets that Power be any domain, so four of them is four extra Power for a sweep. 355.2.a names no destination, so they may be played straight to a battlefield you control rather than the base — no walk, which is the half that does not need Renata at all.
- IT IS A MODAL [Reaction], SO THE COUNTER MODE IS THE REAL FLEXIBILITY. 813.1.b gives Reaction every permission of Action, so this can be held all through the opponent's turn and spent either as a counterspell or as four bodies depending on what they do — and 813.1.c.1 lets a Reaction card be played during Closed States on any player's turn. That is what separates it from every other token maker in renata-industrialist-tokens' list, which are all sorcery-speed.
- Four Energy and 2 Calm Power is expensive to hold up, and 167 empties the Rune Pool at the start of YOUR Main Phase and at the end of each player's turn — so the Power has to be banked as runes and paid on their turn with 164.2.a / 164.2.b, both of which are [Reaction] and neither of which needs an exhaust for the Power half (#44's free floor of 2 Power a turn).
- The four Birds are 1 Might each, so 465.2.c prices the wall at 4 damage, and 465.2.c.3 forces lethal one body at a time — four separate assignments, not one sweep. They are chaff that taxes removal, not a defence.
- 103.2.b caps it at three casts a game. Sibling entries flurry-of-feathers-grand-plaza-win and keeper-of-masks-flurry-plaza-window use the same spell as a Plaza filler; this row is the Renata half and the instant-speed half, which neither of those states.
Steps
- Have Renata Glasc, Industrialist on the board (4 Energy + 1 Order Power) and hold Flurry of Feathers with 4 Energy and 2 Calm Power available.
- On either player's turn, in any Closed State (813.1.b, 813.1.c.1), choose the second mode: play four 1-Might Bird unit tokens with [Deflect].
- 355.2.a lets them enter at a battlefield you control rather than your base, and Renata makes each enter ready (R25 = A) rather than exhausted (143.4).
- They defend that battlefield at once, and each taxes the opponent 1 rainbow Power to be chosen by a spell or ability (809.1.c).
- On your next Main Phase they may walk as one action (144.3) without waiting for Awaken.
How it ends

AUTHORED 2026-09-06 from issue #160. UNL-044 was an uncatalogued partner of renata-industrialist-tokens. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; 103.2.b, 143.4, 144.1.b, 144.3, 167, 355.2.a, 464.2.c.3, 465.2.b, 465.2.c, 465.2.c.3, 809.1.c, 809.1.c.1, 813.1.b and 813.1.c.1 opened in the Core Rules file. Stands on R25 = A; no new reading. The first notable states the boundary the walk had to establish before writing any Renata row at all: 'enters ready' is worth nothing to a UNIT token made on the opponent's turn, because it cannot move in a Closed State and combat does not read exhaustion — the value is in the following Main Phase and in exhaust costs.
