Forecaster × Rumble, Scrapper — the Mech the Hold mints filters your deck on the way in, every turn, for nothing
Pieces
- Forecaster ×1
SFD-065 · enabler · mind
Your Mechs have [Vision]. (When you play us, look at the top card of your Main Deck. You may recycle it.)
- Rumble, Scrapper ×1
SFD-089 · engine · mind
Your Mechs have +1 Might (including me). When I hold, play a 3 Might Mech unit token to your base.
Payoff
Deck
- Mono-Mind: both cards carry a single domain, so 103.1.b.3 puts them inside any Domain Identity containing Mind. No legend constraint at all.
- A battlefield you control with Rumble standing on it, not yet scored this turn (469.2 Hold, 315.2.b.2 'The Turn Player Holds all Battlefields they Control', 470).
Prerequisites
- THE ISSUE'S OPEN READING IS CLOSED BY RULES TEXT, AND NO R-NUMBER WAS FILED. #117 filed as its refutation risk the question of whether a keyword granted by ANOTHER permanent's static ability is on the token early enough for 817.1.c's trigger. 383.2.c settles it: 'The Condition of a Trigger is evaluated after a potentially inciting event has been processed' — the token is already on the board, with Forecaster's continuous grant applying to it, when the evaluation happens. 383.2.c.1 is the explicit form ('it is evaluated and subsequently triggered if it enters that zone at the same time that its Trigger's condition is met', worked example Immortal Phoenix), and 817.3 is what lets a grant put Vision on a permanent at all.
- THE TOKEN IS A MECH BY RULE, NOT BY GUESS. 187.4: 'A 3 [M] Mech token is a domainless unit token with 3 Might and the Mech tag.' Rumble's own static then makes it 4 Might. 143.4 makes it enter exhausted at your base, so #48's walk-to-the-battlefield bottleneck is untouched by this entry — the product is the filter, not the board.
- IT NEVER BURNS OUT, AND IT NEVER TUTORS. 436.4.a ('will not perform a Burn Out as a result of Predicting with too few cards') and 431.1.c cover the empty-deck case, so this runs inside a deck-empty shell. And 416.1.a / 416.5 send a recycled card to the BOTTOM: one look at the top, never a search, never a thinning.
- SECOND INSTANCE, AND ITS TRAP: OGN-100 Gemcraft Seer (Mind, E3 P1 M3) prints '[Vision] ... Other friendly units have [Vision]', so a Mech token carries Forecaster's grant AND hers — 817.2, 'Multiple instances of Vision trigger separately', is two Predicts. 817.2.b is the limit and it is printed: 'If the player does not recycle the top card and nothing else happens in between the triggers resolving, each instance of Vision will see the same card.' The second look is worth something only when you recycled on the first. Third card, so notable rather than uses.
- VARIANT 1b, AND THE LEGEND #117 LEFT FOR THE WALK: SFD-021 Ferrous Forerunner (Fury, E6 P1 M6) reads '[Deathknell] — Play two 3 Might Mech unit tokens to your base', which is two separate Vision triggers off one death (808.1.c + 817.2). It needs a Fury/Mind legend; grepping every legend line gives exactly three (OGN-247 Daughter of the Void, SFD-181 Mechanized Menace, UNL-181 Virtuoso) and SFD-181's own text is about Mechs. It is once per copy that dies, not once per turn, which is why it rides here instead of being a second entry.
- KARMA IS A RIDER AND IS CAPPED WHERE #106 SAID. OGN-235 Karma, Channeler (Order) is the pool's only general 'when you recycle one or more cards to your Main Deck' payoff. Under a Mind/Order legend she buffs off each Vision recycle, but 702.3 / 702.3.a allow one Buff per unit and the Hold mints exactly ONE new unbuffed body per turn — so two Vision instances place one buff, not two. Third card plus a legend constraint: notable, never uses.
- OTHER MECH FAUCETS, ALL PRICED IN CARDS: SFD-019 Assembly Rig, SFD-076 Production Surge, VEN-051 Iterative Design and VEN-087 Hextech Disc each mint a Mech token, so each one is another Vision trigger — but each costs a card or an exhaust, so none of them makes this repeat inside a turn. Rumble's Hold is the only free faucet.
Steps
- Play Forecaster (2 Energy). Its own arrival already predicts — the reminder text reads 'When you play us', and 383.2.c evaluates the trigger after Forecaster is on the board with its own grant live.
- Play Rumble, Scrapper (5 Energy + 1 Mind Power) and walk him to a battlefield. Establishing Control there is the entry's real setup cost (190.4, 348.2.a).
- Each Beginning Phase, 315.2.b.2 Holds every battlefield you control. Rumble is present at one of them, so 383.4.d / 383.4.d.1 put his Hold Effect on the chain and it plays a 3 Might Mech unit token to your base (4 Might, by his own static).
- The token entering the Board is 817.1.c's trigger. Vision resolves: look at the top card of your Main Deck and recycle it or leave it (436.1). 416.1.a / 416.5 put a recycled card on the bottom.
- Repeat every turn you keep that battlefield. Nothing is spent: the point from the Hold, the body and the filter all come off the same trigger.
Per iteration
+1 four-Might Mech body at your base and +1 free look at the top of your deck (2 looks with Gemcraft Seer out), for 0 Energy and 0 Power, on every Hold
How it ends
engine only — one Hold a turn is the faucet, so there is no repeat step inside a turn; the filter never draws a card and the tokens are born exhausted at the base

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-issue117-deck-manipulation.md), issue #117 candidate 1. The candidate is real and the class is ENGINE. THE WALK'S CONTRIBUTION IS THE CITATION THE ISSUE COULD NOT FIND: #117 recorded finding 2 as 'an open reading with no live exploit' and listed the granted-keyword timing under 'what refutes it'. 383.2.c and 383.2.c.1 answer both without a new R-number — a Trigger's Condition is evaluated AFTER the inciting event is processed, and a Triggered Ability active in a zone triggers on the very event of entering that zone. Also added by the walk: 187.4 (the token carries the Mech tag by rule); Riot's reminder text saying 'us' rather than 'them', which is the card admitting Forecaster's grant reaches Forecaster; OGN-100 Gemcraft Seer as a second stacking instance under 817.2 WITH its 817.2.b limit; SFD-181 Mechanized Menace as the Fury/Mind legend #117 explicitly left for the walk; and Karma capped at one buff per new body by 702.3 / 702.3.a, exactly as #106 found. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; the Fury/Mind legend census is a grep of every '| Legend |' line. Ban check against data/legality.json: none of SFD-065, SFD-089, SFD-021, SFD-181, OGN-100, OGN-235 appears in any entry, in either format. Trap check: no attack designation, so 807.1.d / 383.4.e never arise; no [Repeat]; no recall; no Gold; no token is ever recycled, so 185 / 186.1 / 416.1 never bite; no battlefield of its own, so 485.5 / 103.4.c never arise. Depends on no unruled reading.
