Combo · ENGINE
Exactly two cards in the pool pay for 'becomes Mighty', and only one of them has no exhaust — Fiora readies once per crossing, the Duelist once per turn
Pieces
- Grand Duelist ×1
SFD-205 · legend · body/order
When one of your units becomes [Mighty], you may exhaust me to channel 1 rune exhausted. (A unit is Mighty while it has 5+ Might.)
- Fiora, Worthy ×1
SFD-180 · engine · order
When a unit you control becomes [Mighty], you may pay 1 Order Power to ready it. (A unit is Mighty while it has 5+ Might.)
- Riposte ×1
SFD-206 · enabler · body/order
[Reaction] (Play any time, even before spells and abilities resolve.) Choose a friendly unit and a spell. Counter that spell and give that unit +Might equal to that spell's Energy cost this turn.
- Deathgrip ×1
SFD-163 · enabler · order
[Reaction] (Play any time, even before spells and abilities resolve.) Kill a friendly unit. If you do, give +Might equal to its Might to another friendly unit this turn. Draw 1.
Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains are Grand Duelist's own, Body and Order; Fiora and Deathgrip are Order and Riposte is Body/Order.
- SFD-210 Hall of Legends ('When you conquer here, you may pay [E1] to ready your legend') is the battlefield that lifts the Duelist's once-a-turn cap — and 485.4.a makes it 1 of your 3, so it is not a given.
Prerequisites
- 709 IS THE GATE AND ITS OWN EXAMPLE IS THE WARNING: 'A Unit "becomes Mighty" at the moment its Might changes from being less than 5 to being 5 or greater' — and 'A Unit with Might 5 that gets +1 [M] does not become Mighty, because it was already Mighty.' Pumping a body that is already at 5 pays nothing. Every crossing in this entry starts under 5.
- 'BECOMES [Mighty]' IS EXACTLY TWO CARDS IN THE WHOLE POOL, AND THE UNIQUENESS CLAIM WAS GREPPED, NOT REMEMBERED. `grep -i 'becomes \[*mighty'` over all of data/corpus_flat.txt returns SFD-180 Fiora, Worthy and SFD-205 Grand Duelist and nothing else. The catalogue already had Fiora; the Duelist was in no entry.
- THE ASYMMETRY IS THE FINDING. Fiora's cost is 'you may pay [R Order]' with no exhaust, so she pays out on EVERY crossing in a turn, bounded only by Order Power. The Duelist's is 'you may exhaust me', so it pays out once and then waits for 415.3.a's Awakening Phase — or for a Conquer at Hall of Legends. Two crossings in one turn is one channelled rune and TWO readyings.
- THE CHEAPEST CROSSING IS DEATHGRIP, AND IT CAN CROSS TWO BODIES WITH ONE CARD. 'Kill a friendly unit. If you do, give +[M] equal to its Might to another friendly unit this turn. Draw 1.' Kill a 5 Might body and a 3 Might body goes to 8 — one crossing, one card drawn, 2 Energy. If the body you kill was itself pushed over the line first, that was a second crossing.
- RIPOSTE PAYS BY THE COUNTERED SPELL'S COST. '+[M] equal to that spell's Energy cost' — countering a 3 Energy spell puts +3 on a friendly unit, so a 3 Might body crosses; countering a 1 Energy spell puts +1 and crosses nothing that was not already at 4. The size of the crossing is the opponent's choice, not yours, and the entry says so.
- THE CHANNELLED RUNE IS EXHAUSTED, SO IT IS NOT THIS TURN'S ENERGY. 'Channel 1 rune exhausted' puts a rune on the board that cannot be exhausted again this turn; what it buys is a permanent rune, measured against the free floor of 2 Power a turn every deck already has (164.2.b, 161.2.b, 315.3.b, 430.4.a).
- THE PUMPS ARE 'THIS TURN'. Riposte and Deathgrip both say so, so a body that crossed the line falls back under it at cleanup and can cross again next turn. That is what makes the engine repeat, and it is also why no board state is claimed.
- OVERLAP DECLARED. world-atlas-fiora-worthy-ready runs Fiora with SFD-086 World Atlas, a gear that crosses the line by attaching; unsung-hero-sacrifice-double-draw runs SFD-167 Unsung Hero over the same line with B.F. Sword. This entry is the spell-speed half — two [Reaction] crossings that cost no attachment — and it names the Duelist, which neither of them has.
Bodies no card supplies
Push a friendly unit under 5 Might over the line: Riposte (2 Energy + 2 Power) counters a spell and adds its Energy cost, or Deathgrip (2 Energy) kills a friendly body and moves its whole Might onto another and draws 1
Steps
- Have Fiora, Worthy on the board and Grand Duelist ready (415.3.a gives the legend back each Awakening Phase).
- Push a friendly unit under 5 Might over the line: Riposte (2 Energy + 2 Power) counters a spell and adds its Energy cost, or Deathgrip (2 Energy) kills a friendly body and moves its whole Might onto another and draws 1.
- 709 fires both payoffs on that single crossing: exhaust Grand Duelist to channel 1 rune exhausted, and pay 1 Order Power to Fiora to ready the unit that crossed.
- Cross a second body in the same turn and Fiora pays again for another Order Power; the Duelist does not, unless a Conquer at Hall of Legends bought it back for 1 Energy.
- The pumps expire at cleanup, so the same bodies are back under the line for tomorrow's crossings.
Per iteration
per crossing: one unit readied for 1 Order Power, plus one rune channelled exhausted for the first crossing of the turn; Deathgrip adds a card on top
How it ends
engine only — Fiora is bounded by Order Power and by how many bodies you can push over the line, the Duelist by one exhaust a turn; nothing here scores

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-issue89-tournament-corpus.md), issue #89 candidate 6 (67 / 45 registered lists). SFD-205 Grand Duelist, SFD-206 Riposte and SFD-163 Deathgrip appeared in NO entry before this; SFD-180 Fiora is in six and SFD-167 Unsung Hero in one, and both overlaps are declared. THE WALK'S ADDITION over the hunt: the hunt treated the two 'becomes Mighty' cards as one payoff capped by the Duelist's exhaust, and they are not symmetric — Fiora's cost carries NO exhaust, so she pays on every crossing in the turn and only Order Power caps her, while the Duelist pays once. The uniqueness claim ('exactly two cards say becomes Mighty') was verified with grep -i over the whole corpus before being written, per this project's rule about uniqueness claims. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened: 103.2.b, 161.2.b, 164.2.b, 315.3.b, 415.3.a, 430.4.a, 485.4.a, 709. Ban check: none of the four carries a [BANNED marker. Trap check: no attack designation; no [Repeat]; no [Temporary]; no token; Deathgrip's kill is an Active Kill and the entry claims no Deathknell from it, so 808.1.d.1 does not arise; the pumps are 'this turn' and the entry says so; Hall of Legends is named as a battlefield with 485.4.a's caveat rather than assumed. Depends on no unruled reading.
