The Brush question is answered by the rules' own worked example, and the +1 is exactly what takes a Bird token out of Flurry of Blades range
Pieces
- Green Father ×1
UNL-195 · legend · calm/order
When you conquer or hold, you may exhaust me to replace that battlefield with a Brush battlefield token. (Bird, Cat, Dog, Poro, and Ivern units have +1 Might in Brush. It can be swapped back when scored.)
- Ultrasoft Poro ×1
UNL-160 · engine · order
Exhaust: Play two 1 Energy Might Bird unit tokens with [Deflect]. Use this ability only while I'm at a battlefield. (Opponents must pay 1 Power of any domain to choose a [Deflect] unit with a spell or ability.)
Payoff
Deck
- UNL-195 / UNL-233 Green Father IS the legend and IS the requirement: Calm/Order covers Ultrasoft Poro (Order) under 103.1.b.3. Nothing here is Signature, so no further constraint applies.
- One battlefield conquered or held, which is what the legend's trigger reads.
Prerequisites
- THE DEFERRAL IS CLOSED BY THE RULES' OWN WORKED EXAMPLE, WHICH NAMES THIS LEGEND. 438.1: 'Replacing is the act of Creating a token in the place of another card or token without playing it while inheriting all effects or statuses of the game object it replaced', and 438.1.a's example opens 'A player with Green Father as their legend conquers Navori Fighting Pit' and ends 'because the Brush inherited all statuses and conditions'. Control is a status, so it carries; 190.6.a then gives the Brush's abilities to its Controller and 190.6.d's blanking of 'you' never fires. No reading is needed and none is filed.
- THE BRUSH IS A TOKEN, SO IT IS NEVER A uses[] ROW. 187.8 prints it in full: 'A Brush battlefield token is a domainless battlefield token with "Bird, Cat, Dog, Poro, and Ivern units here have +1 Might" and "When you score here, you may replace this with the battlefield it replaced."' 185 keeps tokens out of any decklist, so the legend's line is where it belongs.
- WHAT THE +1 IS ACTUALLY WORTH, MEASURED AGAINST THE POOL'S CHEAPEST SWEEPER. 187.7 makes a Bird token 'a domainless unit token with 1 Might, the Bird tag, and the Deflect keyword'. 143.2.a kills a unit on 'nonzero damage marked on it equalling or exceeding its Might', so a 1-Might Bird dies to OGN-133 Flurry of Blades (Body, E1, '[Reaction] Deal 1 to all units at battlefields') and a 2-Might Bird does not. In the Brush every Bird is a 2 and Ultrasoft Poro himself is a 6. That is a SECOND answer, in Calm/Order, to the problem the catalogue records only in Mind — UNL-077 Soul Shepherd's 'Your token units have +1 Might'.
- AND HERE IS THE LIMIT, BECAUSE THE OBVIOUS EXTENSION IS WRONG. The Brush cannot rescue a Grand Plaza line. Replacing is exactly that — 438.5 puts the replaced battlefield in Banishment and 438.5.a keeps it 'Replaced and not Banished' — so the battlefield whose text you wanted is no longer on the board while the Brush stands there. A line that needs OGN-293 The Grand Plaza's own win text cannot also be standing on a Brush. The Brush protects tokens on a BRUSH; it is not a general +1 for token bodies.
- THE DENIAL HALF, WHICH IS IN NO ENTRY. 127.1 and 485.4.a mean the battlefields on the table were provided by both players. Replace one the OPPONENT brought and its text is off the board for as long as the Brush stands, and only the Brush's Controller can undo it: 187.8's second sentence is 'When you score here, you may replace this with the battlefield it replaced', and 190.6.a makes that 'you' the Controller. 438.7.b returns the original 'inheriting all current effects and statuses', and 438.7.c warns the other way — 'If there is nothing in Banishment to swap back to then this object can never swap back.' So the swap is a one-way option held by whoever holds the Brush.
- THE COST IS THE LEGEND'S EXHAUST, ONCE A TURN. 415.1 with 315.1.b readying her only in your own Awakening caps the replace at one per turn, and the trigger is 'when you conquer or hold' — 823.1.b's phrasing for the same pair of events — so any Beginning Phase in which you hold offers it for free, with no card spent.
- WHAT REFUTES IT. (a) Ultrasoft Poro's ability is 'Use this ability only while I'm at a battlefield', and its exhaust caps it at two Birds a turn (415.1, 315.1.b). (b) The tokens are born at your base or a battlefield you control (355.2.a: 'the controller's Base or a Battlefield the controller controls'), not necessarily at the Brush — they still have to walk, which is the token bottleneck this project has recorded since #48. (c) A +1 Might on a token is not a buff counter: it is a continuous modifier from the battlefield's text, so 702.3 is silent and it stacks with an actual buff — but it also vanishes the moment the body leaves the Brush.
Steps
- Play Ultrasoft Poro (E5). 143.4 makes him enter exhausted; 315.1.b readies him.
- Move him to a battlefield you control (144.4.a, exhausting him as the cost), or hold one he already stands at.
- At your Beginning Phase, 315.2.b.2 Holds every battlefield you control. The legend's trigger fires: exhaust Green Father to replace that battlefield with a Brush battlefield token (438.1; Control carries by 438.1.a).
- From now on every Bird, Cat, Dog, Poro and Ivern unit standing there has +1 Might (187.8) — Ultrasoft Poro is M6.
- On a later Main Phase, exhaust Ultrasoft Poro to play two 1 Might Bird tokens with [Deflect] (187.7). Walk them onto the Brush (355.2.a, 144.4.a): each is a 2-Might [Deflect] body, outside the range of the pool's cheapest sweeper.
- When you next score at the Brush you may swap the original battlefield back (187.8, 438.7.b) — or leave the Brush standing if the battlefield you replaced was the opponent's.
Per iteration
two 2-Might [Deflect] Bird tokens a turn on a battlefield whose own text you chose, and one enemy-provided battlefield switched off for as long as you hold the Brush
How it ends
engine only — one replace a turn (the legend's exhaust) and two Birds a turn (the Poro's); nothing here scores beyond the Conquer or Hold that triggered it

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #170). green-father-brush-four-tags was the one rule the #153 walk DEFERRED rather than refused, on the ground that 438 Replace against 190.x Control was unruled. It is not: 438.1.a's worked example is Green Father conquering Navori Fighting Pit and says outright that the Brush 'inherited all statuses and conditions'. The entry adds two measured facts — the +1 is exactly the step that takes a 1 Might Bird token out of range of OGN-133 Flurry of Blades (143.2.a), and the Brush CANNOT be used to protect a Grand Plaza line, because replacing removes the battlefield whose text the line needs (438.5, 438.5.a). Ban check: UNL-195 and UNL-160 carry no [BANNED marker. Uniqueness discipline: Green Father is TWO base codes, UNL-195 and UNL-233, identically named — counted, not assumed. Trap check: the Brush is a token, so 185 keeps it out of uses[] and out of any decklist; the tokens are born at the base or a battlefield you control (355.2.a) and still have to walk; the +1 is a continuous modifier and not a 702 buff; no [Temporary]; no [Repeat]. Depends on no unruled reading — the deferral is closed by 438.1.a, not by a vote.
