Svellsongur on Guardian of the Passage — two returns from trash per Hold
Pieces
- Guardian of the Passage ×1
SFD-035 · engine · calm
When I hold, you may return a unit or gear from your trash to your hand.
- Svellsongur ×1
SFD-059 · enabler · calm
[Equip] 1 Energy + 1 Calm Power (1 Energy + 1 Calm Power: Attach this to a unit you control.) As this is attached to a unit, copy that unit's text to this Equipment's effect text for as long as this is attached to it.
Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains cover Calm.
Prerequisites
- Hold with the Guardian wearing Svellsongur: two returns per Hold. With Blue Sentinel present as well: four.
- WHAT KILLS IT, AND IT IS NOT NAMED ANYWHERE ELSE IN THIS ENTRY. 718.5.b: "Attached cards still can be chosen or targeted by game effects while Attached." So the Svellsongur is a legal target every turn it sits on the Guardian, even though 718.2 makes its printed Rules Text Inactive and 721.2 stops that text triggering or being activated - what the carrier keeps is the appended Effect Text, and killing the gear takes it away. Lose it and the entry halves: the two returns per Hold become one, and the Blue Sentinel line in the notable above becomes two rather than four. Measured over every printing: FIFTEEN names kill a gear, they cover ALL SIX domains and NONE is colourless, so no opponent identity lacks one - the cheapest are OGN-179 Acceptable Losses (Chaos, E1, [Action]) and SFD-005 Detonate (Fury, E1 + 1 Power) - and ZERO of the fifteen carry [Reaction], so none reaches the Beginning-Phase Hold window (312.2.a with 813.1.c.1) - the answer has to be cast a turn early, which is also the turn in which to defend it. This is a mono-Calm line, so it can bring SFD-032 Disarming Rake or OGN-056 Adaptatron to answer the mirror, and nothing in Calm protects the gear itself.
Steps
- Equip Svellsongur to Guardian of the Passage.
- Hold at your Beginning Phase: the printed trigger and the copy each return a unit or gear from trash.
How it ends
engine only — trash recursion, no points

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-04 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-04-r6-r10-r28-batch.md): the 718.2 vs 725.1 chain for Svellsongur is walked there, which was this entry's only blocker. It needs no ruling on R6, because one Svellsongur on one unit gives the same number under the snapshot and the current-text readings. Two returns from the trash per Hold, both cards Calm.
