Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Play Brutal Hunter (3 Energy + 1 Power) and Empower him for 3 Energy. 441.2 makes it permanent: he is a 6 Might body with [Ganking] from now on.
  2. Play Tools of Empire (4 Energy) and Empower it for 2 Energy. Its doubling is on the GEAR, so every future activation is +4.
  3. Each turn, exhaust the Tools for +4 Might on any unit - free, because 415.3.a readies it every Awakening.
  4. When you want the big number, add Guttural Roar (2 Energy) targeting the Hunter: he is Empowered, so it is +4 rather than +2. 6 + 4 + 4 = 14 for the turn.
  5. Its [Action] permission (806.1.c.1) means the Roar can be held until the garrison is known and played inside the combat.

Per iteration

+4 Might a turn from the gear for no resources, and +8 on an Empowered body when the spell is added

How it ends

engine only - one free +4 a turn from the gear plus three Guttural Roars by 103.2.b; every Empower is a one-time purchase (441.1.b) and both pumps expire at cleanup; nothing here scores

How this entry was audited

REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #186, batch 2). The first entry to use VEN-070 Brutal Hunter, VEN-072 Guttural Roar or VEN-077 Tools of Empire. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened and quoted: 053.2, 103.1.b.3, 103.2.b, 143.4, 144.4, 144.4.c.1, 315.1, 316, 415.3.a, 441.1.b, 441.2, 465.2.c, 465.2.c.4, 469, 806.1.c.1, 810.1.c.3. The entry exists for the referent split: the two cards share a wording and differ in what 'Empowered' is being asked about, which 053.2 settles ('Gear and spells say "this"'). The excess-damage half is stated as a NON-payoff, since Body prints no card that reads it. Ban check: none of the three is banned or restricted; none is a Signature card. No unruled reading.
