Deck
- The legend must be OGN-265 Herald of the Arcane specifically, and Heimerdinger is Mind, so the identity is Mind/Order (103.1.b).
Prerequisites
- THE FIRST ENTRY IN THE CATALOGUE WHERE HEIMERDINGER REACHES A LEGEND. heimerdinger-vanguard-armory-recruits copies gear and heimerdinger-malzahar-double-power copies a unit; neither touches the Legend Zone. 355.9.a.4 is the referent that makes 'friendly legends' mean your Champion Legend.
- AND IT IS THE ONLY LEGEND HE CAN REACH. A trigger worded 'When you conquer, you may exhaust me to ...' is a Triggered Ability (383.1), not an [exhaust] ability, so Heimerdinger does not get it. That excludes SFD-187 Void Burrower, UNL-193 Gloomist, UNL-195 Green Father, OGN-249 Relentless Storm, SFD-205 Grand Duelist and VEN-145 Curator of the Sands - six of the seven exhaust-paying legends in the lens. Herald is the one whose exhaust sits in an activated ability's cost.
- THE TOKENS GO STRAIGHT TO A BATTLEFIELD. Herald's text names no destination, and 355.2.a settles it: 'By default, Valid locations include the controller's Base or a Battlefield the controller controls.' Issue #47's third refutation point - that the Recruits land at base and need another turn of moves - is wrong.
- TWO RECRUITS A TURN FOR 2 ENERGY, AND THE SEVENTH IS THE INTERESTING ONE. Heimerdinger has ALL the exhaust abilities but only one exhaust to spend, so beside SFD-168 Vanguard Armory (heimerdinger-vanguard-armory-recruits, same Mind/Order identity) he takes the Armory's three: Armory 3 + Heimerdinger 3 + the legend 1 = SEVEN in a single turn, which is exactly OGN-293 The Grand Plaza's threshold. That entry's 'reaches seven in two turns' becomes one turn once the legend is counted.
- SFD-210 Hall of Legends ('When you conquer here, you may pay 1 Energy to ready your legend') is a third Recruit for 1 Energy plus the readying - but it and The Grand Plaza can never share a table: 485.4.a has each player provide three battlefields and use only one, and 103.4.c with Tournament Rules 402.1 forbid two of the same name. Random 1 of 3 in Duel (485.5) and Skirmish (487.5), chosen in Match (486.5). And a battlefield you provide starts UNCONTROLLED (190.1, 190.6.d), so its text is off until you walk a body there.
- 143.4 - Heimerdinger enters exhausted, so the engine starts the turn after he lands, and the Recruits enter exhausted too, so they neither defend nor move the turn they appear. 415.3.a readies the legend and Heimerdinger every Awakening.
- For the Plaza finish the seven must survive the opponent's whole turn: 315.2.b.2 puts the Hold in your Beginning Phase and 383.2.a.1 measures the condition when the trigger is placed.
Steps
- Play Heimerdinger, Inventor (3 Energy + 1 Power). He enters exhausted (143.4).
- From the next turn on, 415.3.a readies him in your Awakening alongside the legend.
- Main Phase: pay 1 Energy and exhaust Herald of the Arcane - one 1 Might Recruit token, placed at your base or at a battlefield you control (355.2.a).
- Pay 1 Energy again and exhaust Heimerdinger, using his copy of the same ability - a second Recruit, to the same choice of locations.
- Two bodies a turn for 2 Energy and no cards, every turn. With the Vanguard Armory also on the board, take the Armory's three with Heimerdinger's exhaust instead and the turn total is seven.
Per iteration
+2 Recruit tokens per turn for 2 Energy and no cards; +7 per turn beside the Vanguard Armory
How it ends
engine only - two free bodies a turn, seven with the Armory; it wins through a Grand Plaza hold at 7+ units, not on its own

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-legend-lens-candidates.md), issue #47 candidate 2. Issue #47's finding D claimed Heimerdinger was uncatalogued; that was measured before the walk of #46 landed the two entries above the same day, and the correction is recorded here. What is genuinely new is the Legend Zone reach. Trap check: no [Repeat]; no [Temporary]; the tokens are not Temporary and so they do Hold; no attack trigger, so 807.1.d/383.4.e/461 do not engage; no rune recycled for Power; no Energy carried across a Main Phase boundary (167). R30 = B does not bite because Herald prints no 'use only while' clause. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Depends on no unruled reading.
