Payoff
Deck
- Mind + Fury: OGN-247 Daughter of the Void (Kai'Sa) is the legend (103.1.b.2). Veiled Temple is Colorless.
- The Formula enters exhausted by its own text, so its first activation is the turn AFTER it is played, once 315.1.b has readied it.
Prerequisites
- The whole value is a price comparison and it is worth stating in numbers. Rage Amplifier's printed [Empower] cost is E6 + 1 Fury Power. The Formula charges one exhaust. 441.2 — "Empowered" is a state for Game Objects on the board that other game effects and abilities can reference' — and 441.1.a makes it binary, so the +2 Might to your whole board is bought once and kept.
- 827.1.c.3's discount rule does not apply and must not be cited here: nothing is paying an Empower cost at all. The Formula's ability performs the Empower directly, which is 441.1's 'the act of rendering one or more Game Objects Empowered'.
- The Questionable Tome is the repeatable half. Unaided, its [Empower] cost IS its exhaust and its draw costs 'Disempower this, E1, exhaust' — the same exhaust twice, so it can never do both in one turn. With the Formula paying the Empower, the Tome stays ready and draws for E1. It disempowers itself in the process (441.1.c is not reached, because it is not Empowered when the Formula next fires), so the cycle repeats every turn.
- Veiled Temple is one of YOUR three battlefields and only one of the three is used: randomly in Duel (485.4.a, 485.5) and Skirmish (487.5), chosen in Match (486.5); 103.4.c and Tournament Rules 402.1 forbid a second copy. It also starts UNCONTROLLED (190.1) with its text switched off (190.6.d: 'If the battlefield has no Controller, "you" refers to no one, and all such instructions are ignored'), so taking it is part of the cost.
- The Temple's second half — 'If it's an Equipment, you may detach it' — does nothing for this line: none of the three gear here is an Equipment (no [Equip] and no Might bonus), so 716 never comes into it. It is named in the entry only so the next reader does not go looking for the interaction.

On a turn you conquer at the Veiled Temple, ready the Formula there for a second Empower in the same turn
Steps
- Play the Hextech Formula for E2. It enters exhausted by its own text.
- Your next Awaken (315.1.b) readies it. Exhaust it: Empower the Rage Amplifier. Your units are now at +2 Might permanently (441.1.a, 441.2), for a printed price of E6 + 1 Fury Power that you never paid.
- From the following turn, exhaust the Formula on the Questionable Tome instead. The Tome is Empowered without spending its own exhaust.
- Pay E1, Disempower the Tome and exhaust it: draw 1. The Tome ends the turn ready to be Empowered again.
- Awaken readies both. Repeat: one card a turn for E1.
- On a turn you conquer at the Veiled Temple, ready the Formula there for a second Empower in the same turn.
How it ends
engine only — a one-off Empower worth E6 + 1 Power, then one card a turn for E1, doubled on the turns you conquer at the Veiled Temple. Nothing here scores.

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-orphan-synergy-rules.md §13), issue #153, from the two orphan rules hextech-formula-empower-gear and veiled-temple-readies-gear. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened: 103.1.b.2, 103.4.c, 190.1, 190.6.d, 315.1.b, 441.1, 441.1.a, 441.1.b, 441.1.c, 441.2, 485.4.a, 485.5, 486.5, 487.5, 716. 827.1.c.3 is deliberately NOT cited: it governs discounts on an Empower COST, and nothing in this line pays one. The keyword-lens rule from CLAUDE.md was applied — the Empower family was opened with grep -i on 'empower', not on the bracketed form, which is what #34 found necessary. Trap check: no attack; no [Repeat]; no [Temporary]; no token; no recall; the gear enters exhausted by its own text rather than by 143.4, which applies to units only; nothing added in Awaken is carried past 167, since the E1 for the draw is spent in the Main Phase; the battlefield is declared a 1-in-3 draw with an uncontrolled start.
