Payoff
Deck
- Any Calm legend: both cards are mono-Calm (103.1.b.3) and neither is a Signature card, so 103.2.d.2 forces nothing.
- Neither card is banned or restricted in either format.
- You need a third unit somewhere else on the board, because the Signpost's cost exhausts one unit and its effect moves 'a different unit' to that unit's location — 420.1 defines Moving 'between two Locations', so payer and mover cannot be the same body and cannot be in the same place.
Prerequisites
- ONE +1 PER ACTIVATION, NEVER TWO. The Signpost chooses twice — the unit exhausted to pay the cost, and the unit moved — but the effect says 'a DIFFERENT unit', so Irelia can be one of them and not both. Whether she pays or she moves, her trigger fires once. Do not price this as +2.
- HER [Deflect] TAXES ONLY THE OPPONENT. 809.1.c: Deflect is short for 'Spells and abilities an opponent controls that target [me/this] cost an amount of Power equal to [Deflect Value] more'. Your own Signpost activation choosing her is free, which is what makes a repeatable self-chooser a clean fit for her: every one of your own interactions with her is a +1 and none of them pays her own tax.
- [Action] IS WHERE THE VALUE IS. 806.1.b: Action grants permission 'to be played or activated during Showdowns, even when it is not the Controlling player's turn'. So the +1 and the relocation both land inside a Showdown or an open Combat, on either player's turn, and 465.2.c reads Might at assignment. On the opponent's turn this is a free point of Might on a [Deflect] defender they cannot cheaply answer.
- THE MOVE IS BY EFFECT, WHICH IS THREE SEPARATE PERMISSIONS. 420.3.a puts the exhaust cost on the STANDARD move only, so a unit the Signpost moves pays nothing and may already be exhausted; 144.4 restricts only the Standard Move to base-to-battlefield, so this goes battlefield to battlefield; and 810.1.c.3 is why [Ganking] is not an alternative — it widens the Standard Move, it does not grant one.
- ARITHMETIC WITH THE QUANTITIES DECLARED. Per turn, once both are down: +1 Might on Irelia (5 while it lasts) and one unit relocated battlefield-to-battlefield, at Showdown speed, for 0 Energy and 0 Power. Setup is 5 Energy for Irelia and 2 for the Signpost. The Signpost's own exhaust caps it at one activation a turn, refunded at your Awaken (315.1.b), and 317.2.c expires the +1 every end-of-turn Cleanup.
- THE BIGGER CHOOSERS ARE OUT OF DOMAIN, AND SAYING SO IS USEFUL. OGN-124 Arena Bar would pay her twice in one activation — 702.2.a makes buffing a choosing, so the buff is +1 from 703 and the trigger is another +1 — but the Bar is mono-Body, so it needs a Calm/Body legend (OGN-257 Blind Monk, OGS-019 Wuju Bladesman - Starter, SFD-193 Grandmaster at Arms, UNL-191 Wuju Master) and it is capped at one buff per body by 702.3. The Signpost is the mono-Calm answer that repeats forever.
Steps
- Play Irelia, Fervent (5 Energy) to a battlefield and Forgotten Signpost (2 Energy).
- `OGN-044 Clockwork Keeper` is the payer AND the destination, and the line needs no third body: `UNL-045` reads *"Exhaust a unit you control, :rb_exhaust:: Move a different unit you control to the location of the unit you exhausted"*, and exhausting Irelia is itself a CHOOSING, so with her and the Keeper you may exhaust HER for the +1 and move the Keeper to her — which is how she stays where the fight is. A third unit at a different location is OPTIONAL and buys only the choice of moving somebody else while she stays put.
- When a Showdown or Combat is open on either player's turn (806.1.b), activate the Signpost: exhaust the Signpost and exhaust one of your units.
- Move Irelia to that unit's location — that is a choosing, so her trigger gives her +1 Might this turn — or, if she should stay put, exhaust HER to pay the cost instead and move somebody else; either way she gets the +1 once.
- Fight with the raised Might (465.2.c reads it at assignment).
- The Signpost readies at your Awakening Phase (315.1.b) and the +1 expires at the end-of-turn Cleanup (317.2.c); repeat every turn.
Per iteration
+1 Might on Irelia and one battlefield-to-battlefield relocation, at Showdown speed, every turn for nothing
How it ends
engine only — one activation a turn per Signpost (three copies by 103.2.b) and the Might expires every Cleanup; nothing here scores

Distinct from blade-dancer-irelia-defiant-dance, which reaches her through the READY half of her clause and spends a Conquer-gated readier plus three spells: this reaches her through the CHOOSE half, costs nothing per turn, and repeats forever. Ban check: neither card is banned or restricted. Trap check: one +1 per activation and never two, stated first; her [Deflect] taxes opponents only, so your own chooser is free; the Signpost needs a payer at a different location (420.1); the move is by effect and free of 420.3.a's exhaust; the Might expires (317.2.c); no unruled reading.
