Deck
- Legend domains are Mind and Chaos. Four legends cover the pair: OGN-263 Swift Scout, SFD-199 Prodigal Explorer, UNL-197 Scorn of the Moon, VEN-151 Soul's Reflection.
- Jae has to be on the board before the spell is played — he is the thing being chosen.
Prerequisites
- IT NEEDS NO RULES READING: 355.5.a ANSWERS IT WITH ITS OWN WORKED EXAMPLE. 355.5 is step 2 of playing a card ('If a card requires you to specifically choose one or more Game Objects, that choice is made now') and 355.5.a says 'Example: "Stun a unit at a battlefield" is a Choice.' Stupefy's 'Give a unit -1 Might this turn' is the same grammar, so choosing Jae with it is 'you choose me with a spell'. 355.7 adds that such a choice is also Targeted.
- THE TRIGGER FIRES BEFORE THE SPELL IS PAID FOR, LET ALONE RESOLVED, and that is why a counter does not stop it. The five steps of playing a card are 354 (onto the Chain), 355 (make the choices), 357 (pay the costs), 358 (check legality), 359 (finalize). Jae triggers at step 2. 419.4 is the rule that would switch a trigger off on a countered card, and its own first sentence scopes it to abilities that trigger 'when cards are played' — 419.4.a puts those at resolution. Jae triggers on a CHOICE, not on a play.
- THE PRICE, AGAINST THE ONE THE CATALOGUE ALREADY USES. The loop ledger of issue #21 prices SFD-088 Renata Glasc, Mastermind's exhaust-free '1 Energy + 1 Mind: Draw 1' at 1 Power = 9 Energy, so about 10 Energy per extra card. Jae's marginal card costs 1 Energy. It is a factor of ten and it is the reason this entry exists.
- ARITHMETIC WITH THE QUANTITIES DECLARED. One Stupefy on Jae: 1 Energy, 1 card spent, 2 drawn, net +1 card. With Spirit Wheel ready: 2 Energy, 1 card spent, 3 drawn, net +2. All three Stupefies with one Spirit Wheel activation: 4 Energy, 3 cards spent, 7 drawn, NET +4 CARDS.
- WHY IT IS ENGINE AND NOT AN INFINITE'S DRAW ENGINE. Nothing in Mind/Chaos recycles Stupefy, so 103.2.b's three copies are the ceiling. And it reaches no loop: re-measured 2026-09-06 against the FOURTEEN INFINITE entries in the catalogue, the only one whose domain union contains Chaos is pursuer-herald-recruits, whose anchor OGN-177 Stealthy Pursuer carries [BANNED constructed:banned, 2v2:banned] in the corpus. The two mono-Mind loops are fed by lux-infinite-energy, which is Mind/Order.
- THE COST NOBODY PRICED: EVERY STUPEFY SHRINKS JAE. '-1 Might this turn, to a minimum of 1' runs him 5 -> 4 -> 3 -> 2 over three casts. He stops being Mighty on the first one, which matters in any shell that pays for [Mighty].
- THE CALM/CHAOS VARIANT IS A DIFFERENT DECK, NOT AN UPGRADE. SFD-196 Defiant Dance (Calm/Chaos, E1 P1) chooses TWO units, so two Jae would draw two — but 103.1.b.1 keeps Mind and Calm apart and that shell is SFD-195 Blade Dancer's, which the catalogue holds as blade-dancer-caitlyn-choose-ready.
Steps
- Jae Medarda on the board (5 Energy + 2 Power). Spirit Wheel on the board and ready, if you run it.
- Play Stupefy for 1 Energy, choosing JAE as the unit that gets -1 Might.
- The choice is made at step 2 of playing (355, 355.5): Jae's trigger goes on the Chain and draws 1.
- Spirit Wheel sees the same choice ('a friendly unit'): pay 1 Energy and exhaust it to draw 1 more. Once per turn.
- Stupefy resolves: -1 Might on Jae and its own Draw 1.
- Repeat with the second and third copies. Spirit Wheel readies at your next Awaken (315.1.b).
Per iteration
+1 card per spell that chooses Jae, at zero marginal cost — 1 Energy per net card with Stupefy, +2 with Spirit Wheel ready
How it ends
engine only — bounded by the three copies of the choose-spell, since nothing in Mind/Chaos recycles them; it feeds no catalogued loop, because no legal INFINITE has Chaos

REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-draw-lens-candidates.md), issue #59 candidate 1. SFD-142, OGN-095 and SFD-144 appeared in no entry before this except OGN-095, which garen-fiora-malzahar-facebreaker-recruits uses for a different purpose. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; 355.5, 355.5.a, 355.7, 354/355/357/358/359, 419.4/419.4.a/419.4.a.1, 315.1.b and 103.1.b.1 opened in the Core Rules. Ban check: none of the three carries a [BANNED marker. THE WALK'S ADDITION over the hunt: the 419.4 question is answered by 419.4's own scoping sentence rather than being filed as a reading; the Might drain on Jae was not priced by the hunt; and the no-INFINITE-has-Chaos measurement was redone against 14 entries rather than the 12 the hunt saw. Trap check: no attack designation; no [Repeat]; no [Temporary]; no token; no recall; no battlefield; no Awaken Energy. Depends on no unruled reading.
