- All cards are mono-Body, so 103.1.b.3 admits any legend with Body in its pair: SFD-203/SFD-250 Battle Mistress, OGN-257/OGN-304 Blind Monk, OGN-267/OGN-309 Bounty Hunter, VEN-141/VEN-190 Butcher of the Sands, VEN-149/VEN-194 Defender of Tomorrow, SFD-205/SFD-251 Grand Duelist, SFD-193/SFD-245 Grandmaster at Arms, UNL-203/UNL-237 Keeper of the Hammer, VEN-153/VEN-196 Matriarch of War, OGS-023 Might of Demacia - Starter, UNL-183/UNL-227 Pridestalker, SFD-183/SFD-241 Purifier, OGN-249/OGN-300 Relentless Storm, OGN-269/OGN-310 The Boss, UNL-201/UNL-236 Voidreaver, OGS-019 Wuju Bladesman - Starter, UNL-191/UNL-231 Wuju Master.
- Neither card is banned or restricted in either format, and neither is a Signature card.
- Mighty bodies ON THE BOARD when the Jaull-Fish's cost is determined, not later: 203.1 and 356.4.b price a card as it is played. CORRECTED 2026-10-18 (#400, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-18-two-mighty-bodies-buy-a-ready-jaull-fish-on-t4-and-the-three-body-runes-it-recycles-are-the-part-no-discount-touches.md): the condition is right and the citations are not. 203.1 says how a cost is paid ("Paying a Cost requires a player to perform the appropriate game action: pay resources, spend counters or XP, kill units, etc."), not when, and 356.4.b only names the wording of a discount. The timing is 354 ("1. Move the card from its current zone to the Chain.") and 356 ("3. Determine Total Cost."): the Jaull-Fish is already on the chain when its cost is counted. Nobody changes the board in between. A chain makes the turn Closed (309.1: "If a Chain exists, the turn is in a Closed State."), only Reactions are played then (309.1.a: "Only cards and abilities with the Reaction keyword can be played or activated in a Closed State."), and in a Closed State a player receives Priority once the pending items are finalized (312.2.c: "When the turn is in a Closed State, all pending chain items finish being finalized, and they control the next item on the Chain."). The pass to the next player (312.2.d) comes after that. So the board you start the chain with is the board that counts. (The play cites 312.2.d for this; 312.2.c is the paragraph that holds it.)
Run play
Prerequisites
- THE TRAP THE ENTRY IS BUILT ON, AND IT IS ON THE PARTNER'S OWN CARD. 814.1.c makes [Shield] 'While I am a defender, I have +X [M].' and 807.1.c makes [Assault] 'While I am an attacker, I have +X [M].' Both are conditional on a designation you only hold inside a combat (807.1.d, 464.2.c.3) - and you play the Jaull-Fish in your own Main Phase, where nobody is an attacker or a defender. So UNL-099 Towering Combatant (Body, E4, PRINTED Might 3, [Shield 2], [Tank]) reads Might 3 when the discount is counted and contributes NOTHING, even though the card looks like a 5. Garen, Rugged works because his printed Might is already 5; his own [Assault 2] and [Shield 2] are irrelevant to the discount. Count printed and current Might, never keyword Might.
- WHAT 'MIGHTY' IS. 709 defines the EVENT - 'A Unit "becomes Mighty" at the moment its Might changes from being less than 5 to being 5 or greater' - and the reminder text on the card gives the STATE: 'A unit is Mighty while it has 5+ :rb_might:.' The Jaull-Fish reads the state, so a temporary pump counts as long as it is live at the instant the cost is determined (203.1: 'Paying a Cost requires a player to perform the appropriate game action'; 356.4.b covers 'cost [amount] less'). VEN-077 Tools of Empire, Empowered, gives +4 Might this turn for an exhaust and can push one sub-5 body over the line just before you play him. CORRECTED 2026-10-18 (#400, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-18-two-mighty-bodies-buy-a-ready-jaull-fish-on-t4-and-the-three-body-runes-it-recycles-are-the-part-no-discount-touches.md): 709 is the moment a unit becomes Mighty, not the state the discount reads. The state is 708: 'A Unit "is Mighty" as long as its Might is 5 or greater.', read on current Might by 710: 'Units on the board are evaluated according to their current Might.' The timing citations 203.1 and 356.4.b are corrected in the third easy prerequisite, and the Tools of Empire pump opens a window for the opponent (see step 2).
- 356.6 IS THE FLOOR, AND IT IS ENERGY-ONLY. 'Energy and Power costs can't be reduced below 0.' The Jaull-Fish's discount says 'costs :rb_energy_2: less', so it never touches the 2 Power: four Mighty bodies make him 0 Energy + 2 Power, and a fifth is wasted. Three Garens (103.2.b) are three Mighty bodies for a 1 Energy + 2 Power Jaull-Fish. CORRECTED 2026-10-18 (#400, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-18-two-mighty-bodies-buy-a-ready-jaull-fish-on-t4-and-the-three-body-runes-it-recycles-are-the-part-no-discount-touches.md): right without [Accelerate], wrong with it. [Accelerate] is an additional cost, added at 356.2 ("Apply additional costs in any order."), before the discount at 356.4 ("Apply discounts."). The Jaull-Fish's discount is on the whole cost, so 356.4.d puts it after any component discount, and 356.4.f lets it reach the additional cost: "Discounts can reduce additional costs, including to 0." Ready, the Jaull-Fish is 8 Energy + 3 Body Power less 2 Energy per Mighty body: three make it E2 + 3 Body Power, four make it E0 + 3 Body Power, and a fifth is wasted. Without [Accelerate], four make it E0 + 2 Power, and the fourth body is worth 1 Energy, not 2.
- AND THEN [ACCELERATE] IS AFFORDABLE, WHICH IS THE POINT OF DISCOUNTING HIM AT ALL. 805.1.a: 'Accelerate is functionally short for "As you play me, you may pay [1][C] as an additional cost. If [you do], I enter ready"', with 805.1.a.1 letting the Power portion be paid in the unit's own domain. 143.4 makes units enter exhausted and 144.2 makes exhausting the unit the Cost of a Standard Move, so a Jaull-Fish played for 1 Energy + 2 Power plus 1 Energy + 1 Body Power arrives READY and reaches a battlefield on the turn it lands - a 6 Might body deployed for 2 Energy and 3 Power. CORRECTED 2026-10-18 (#400, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-18-two-mighty-bodies-buy-a-ready-jaull-fish-on-t4-and-the-three-body-runes-it-recycles-are-the-part-no-discount-touches.md): this ledger adds [Accelerate] after the discount. With three Mighty bodies the sum is the same, E2 + 3 Body Power, but by the order of 356.2 and then 356.4 (see the notable above); with four Mighty bodies it is E0 + 3 Body Power, not E1 + 3 Body Power.
- THE ONE-CARD LEDGER, HONESTLY. Garen is not cheap: 6 Energy + 1 Power each, so paying for three of them to save 6 Energy on one Jaull-Fish is not the trade. The trade is that a Body deck's curve ALREADY ends in 5-plus Might bodies, and this card converts that board into tempo instead of asking for a new one - so read the discount as a rebate on a board you were going to have, and read Garen as the cheapest way to be certain of it (printed 5, no condition, no pump needed). CORRECTED 2026-10-18 (#400, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-18-two-mighty-bodies-buy-a-ready-jaull-fish-on-t4-and-the-three-body-runes-it-recycles-are-the-part-no-discount-touches.md): Garen is not the cheapest certain Mighty body. Swept: every mono-Body unit with printed Might 5 or more and Energy below Garen's 6, or Energy 6 with no Power. That is nineteen, none of them a Signature card or on the ban list. Cheapest by Energy are OGN-150 Kraken Hunter (E3 + 2 Body Power, M5) and VEN-088 Jayce, Hammer in Hand (E4 + 1 Body Power, M5); counted in runes, with a rune exhausted for the Energy and then recycled for the Power (164.2.b), Kraken Hunter is 3, Jayce 4, the six below 5 and Garen 6. Six cost E5 and no Power: OGN-131 Dune Drake, SFD-092 Combat Chef, UNL-100 Voracious Gromp, UNL-105 Imposing Challenger, UNL-116 Poppy, Paragon and VEN-079 Dame the Despoiler (all M5). At E5 + 1 Body Power: OGN-162 Miss Fortune, Captain, SFD-116 Yone, Blademaster, UNL-119 Kha'Zix, Evolving Hunter (M5) and UNL-120 Rengar, Trophy Hunter (M6). At E5 + 2 Body Power: OGN-149 Carnivorous Snapvine (M6). At E6 and no Power: SFD-105 Ruin Runner, VEN-071 Fretful Feline (M5), OGN-125 Bilgewater Bully, OGN-151 Lee Sin, Centered, UNL-098 Targonian Visionary and VEN-086 Gangplank, Naval (M6). With Order in the legend's pair, UNL-171 Galio, Indefatigable is E3 + 1 Order Power and prints 6. Garen's printed 5 is certain; it is not the cheap way to be certain.
- THE PART NO DISCOUNT TOUCHES - ADDED 2026-10-18 (#400, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-18-two-mighty-bodies-buy-a-ready-jaull-fish-on-t4-and-the-three-body-runes-it-recycles-are-the-part-no-discount-touches.md). Every ready Jaull-Fish costs three Body Power at every Mighty count: two printed, and one for [Accelerate] in its own domain (805.1.a.1: "If the unit has one or more domains, the Power portion of the Accelerate cost can be paid only with a Power that matches one of the domains of the unit."). Power is made by recycling a rune of that domain (164.2.b: "Recycle this: [Reaction] — Add [C]."; 164.2.b.1: "The Power added this way corresponds to the Domain of the Rune that is being Recycled."). The discount is Energy only, so the ledger above prices the half that shrinks. In the play's walk (six Body and six Order runes, going first, a Body unit on T3 and the ready Jaull-Fish on T4, an Order unit on T2), the line needs four Body runes among the first eight and an Order among the first four: it fails in 280 of 924 rune orders, 30.30%, recomputed here by enumeration.
- UNRULED, NAMED - ADDED 2026-10-18 (#400, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-18-two-mighty-bodies-buy-a-ready-jaull-fish-on-t4-and-the-three-body-runes-it-recycles-are-the-part-no-discount-touches.md): the entry does not say whether the Jaull-Fish counts itself, and every count above assumes it does not. While its cost is determined it is on the chain, a non-board zone (328: "The Chain is a Non-Board Zone that temporarily exists whenever a card is played or an ability is activated."), and there it is Mighty by its printed 6 (711: "Units in Non-Board Zones are evaluated according to their printed Might."). Against that, it becomes a Game Object only on leaving the chain (359.2: "A Permanent leaves the Chain and becomes a Game Object."). Not ruled here; if it counts, every Mighty count above is one body higher. CORRECTED 2026-10-18 (#403, finding in docs/rules-notes/rules-findings.md): the rules settle it, and it does not count itself, so every count above stands. 354 ("1. Move the card from its current zone to the Chain.") comes before 356 ("3. Determine Total Cost."), so it is on the chain when the discount counts. A card there is not one of your units, for two reasons. First, 355.9.a.1: "“Unit,” “gear,” and “rune” refer to objects on the Board unless specified otherwise." The card names no other zone. Second, 141.1 makes a unit "A Game Object", and 359.2 makes the card one only after its costs are counted and paid. 711 makes it Mighty on the chain, but a Mighty card is still not one of your units.
- NO ANSWER WAS NAMED - ADDED 2026-10-18 (#400, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-18-two-mighty-bodies-buy-a-ready-jaull-fish-on-t4-and-the-three-body-runes-it-recycles-are-the-part-no-discount-touches.md). A removal on one Mighty body raises the Jaull-Fish by 2 Energy and does not stop it; what it can break is the turn the discount bought. OGN-252 Super Mega Death Rocket! (Fury/Chaos, E4 + 1 Power: "Deal 5 to a unit.") kills a printed 5 anywhere, and the 6s survive it; UNL-128 Star-Crossed (Chaos, E3 + 1 Chaos Power: "Return a friendly unit and an enemy unit to their owners' hands.") returns one. In the play's walk the ready Jaull-Fish attacks beside VEN-088 Jayce and a 3-Might Order body, and the cheapest breaks cost one rune against that third body, the same rune exhausted for the Energy and then recycled for the Power (164.2.b): VEN-107 Decree of Discord (Chaos, E1 + 1 Chaos Power: "Return any number of enemy Order (:rb_rune_order:) units with total Might 5 or less to their owners' hands.") from your base on their turn, or in the combat OGN-169 Gust (Chaos, E1: "Return a unit at a battlefield with 3 :rb_might: or less to its owner's hand."), OGN-009 Hextech Ray (Fury, E1 + 1 Fury Power: "Deal 3 to a unit at a battlefield."), UNL-014 Monster Harpoon (Fury, E1 + 1 Fury Power) or UNL-134 Existential Dread (Chaos, E1 + 1 Chaos Power).
- WHAT IT IS NOT. Nothing here scores; 469 defines Scoring as Conquer or Hold and neither card touches either.
Steps
- Develop the Body curve as normal. What matters is how many units you control with CURRENT Might 5 or more when the Jaull-Fish is played - Garen, Rugged at printed 5 is the cheapest guaranteed one. CORRECTED 2026-10-18 (#400, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-18-two-mighty-bodies-buy-a-ready-jaull-fish-on-t4-and-the-three-body-runes-it-recycles-are-the-part-no-discount-touches.md): Garen is not the cheapest guaranteed one. OGN-150 Kraken Hunter (E3 + 2 Body Power) and VEN-088 Jayce, Hammer in Hand (E4 + 1 Body Power) print 5 for less Energy (3 and 4 runes against Garen's 6, a rune exhausted for the Energy and then recycled for the Power, 164.2.b); the fifth notable names all nineteen.
- If you are one body short, an Empowered VEN-077 Tools of Empire gives +4 Might this turn for an exhaust, which pushes a sub-5 body over the line before the cost is determined (203.1, 356.4.b). CORRECTED 2026-10-18 (#400, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-18-two-mighty-bodies-buy-a-ready-jaull-fish-on-t4-and-the-three-body-runes-it-recycles-are-the-part-no-discount-touches.md): that pump opens a window the Jaull-Fish alone does not. VEN-077 Tools of Empire's exhaust is an activated ability, and 377 puts it on the chain: "Activated Abilities are repeatable effects with a cost. They follow a process of going onto the chain and resolving, similar to Playing a Card." While it is there the opponent can play a Reaction (309.1.a; 813.1.c.1: 'On Cards: "This can be played during Closed States on any player's turn."') and remove a body before the count. Played first in the Main Phase, the Jaull-Fish gives them none (316.5.b: "This is denoted as a Neutral Open State, and only the Turn Player has the ability to play spells or activate abilities."). The citations 203.1 and 356.4.b are corrected in the third easy prerequisite.
- Play Jaull-Fish. Its cost is 7 Energy + 2 Power less 2 Energy per Mighty unit; 356.6 floors the Energy at 0 and never touches the Power.
- Pay [Accelerate]'s 1 Energy + 1 Body Power as an additional cost (805.1.a, 805.1.a.1) so it enters ready, overriding 143.4. CORRECTED 2026-10-18 (#400, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-18-two-mighty-bodies-buy-a-ready-jaull-fish-on-t4-and-the-three-body-runes-it-recycles-are-the-part-no-discount-touches.md): the additional cost is added before the discount, not after it (356.2, 356.4, 356.4.f), so the ready total is 8 Energy + 3 Body Power less 2 Energy per Mighty body, floored at 0 by 356.6: four Mighty bodies make it E0 + 3 Body Power.
- Move it to a battlefield the same turn, paying 144.2's exhaust it still has.
Per iteration
2 Energy off the Jaull-Fish per Mighty body you already control, floored at 0 by 356.6, with the 2 Power always payable
How it ends
engine only - a deployment discount, capped at four Mighty bodies by 356.6 and at three copies by 103.2.b; nothing here scores

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #186, batch 1). The first entry to use SFD-103 Jaull-Fish or OGS-007 Garen, Rugged. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened and quoted: 103.1.b.3, 103.2.b, 143.4, 144.2, 203.1, 356.4.b, 356.6, 464.2.c.3, 469, 709, 805.1.a, 805.1.a.1, 807.1.c, 807.1.d, 814.1.c. The entry exists for its trap: [Shield] and [Assault] are designation-conditional, so a UNL-099 Towering Combatant that reads as a 5 counts as a 3 when a Mighty-counting discount is priced. The ledger states plainly that three Garens are not bought to discount one Jaull-Fish - the discount is a rebate on a board the deck already wants - because a 'six might' style arithmetic error in this project has come from pricing the enabler as if it were bought for the payoff. Ban check: neither card is banned or restricted; neither is a Signature card. No unruled reading. CORRECTED 2026-10-18 (#400): "No unruled reading" no longer holds. Whether the Jaull-Fish counts itself is named as unruled in the notables. CORRECTED 2026-10-18 (#403): the rules settle it, and it does not count itself (354, 355.9.a.1, 141.1, 359.2; finding in docs/rules-notes/rules-findings.md). The unruled-reading notable carries the correction, and no count changes. The "Citations opened and quoted" list above is as of 2026-09-07; the #400 corrections cite each paragraph inline where it is used, and quote it there where its wording carries the point (from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-18-two-mighty-bodies-buy-a-ready-jaull-fish-on-t4-and-the-three-body-runes-it-recycles-are-the-part-no-discount-touches.md).
