Ravenbloom Conservatory is Karma's only trigger on the opponent's turn — and the deck's spell density is the dial between a card and a buff
Pieces
- Karma, Channeler ×1
OGN-235 · payoff · order
[Vision] (When you play me, look at the top card of your Main Deck. You may recycle it.) When you recycle one or more cards to your Main Deck, buff a friendly unit. (If it doesn't have a buff, it gets a +1 Might buff. Runes aren't cards.)
- Ravenbloom Conservatory ×1
SFD-215 · battlefield
When you defend here, reveal the top card of your Main Deck. If it's a spell, put it in your hand. Otherwise, recycle it.
Payoff
Deck
- Any legend with Order among its two domains (103.1.b.3) — 17 names: Hand of Noxus (OGN-253), Radiant Dawn (OGN-261), Herald of the Arcane (OGN-265), The Boss (OGN-269), Lady of Luminosity - Starter (OGS-021), Might of Demacia - Starter (OGS-023), Void Burrower (SFD-187), Emperor of the Sands (SFD-197), Chem-Baroness (SFD-201), Grand Duelist (SFD-205), Piltover Enforcer (UNL-187), Green Father (UNL-195), Deceiver (UNL-199), Keeper of the Hammer (UNL-203), Eye of Twilight (VEN-147), Matriarch of War (VEN-153), Heart of the Tempest (VEN-155).
- One of your three battlefields is the Conservatory (485.5 selects one at random), and you are defending there — which means you control it.
Prerequisites
- IT FIRES ON THE OPPONENT'S TURN, WHICH NOTHING ELSE IN KARMA'S ROW DOES FOR FREE. 'When you defend here' happens inside their attack, and Karma's payoff is a TRIGGERED ability, so 383.3.c puts it on the Chain 'during Closed States or Open States on any [player's] turn'. No card is spent, no Energy is spent, and it repeats every combat you defend there.
- THE TWO OUTCOMES ARE EXCLUSIVE, AND THE DECK CHOOSES WHICH ONE IT WANTS BEFORE THE GAME STARTS. 'If it's a spell, put it in your hand. Otherwise, recycle it' — a spell is a free card and NO Karma trigger; anything else is a recycle and a buff. You do not choose in the moment; your spell density does. A spell-heavy list turns the Conservatory into a card faucet that never buffs, a unit-heavy one into a buff faucet that never draws. State the ratio you are building for.
- REVEALING NEVER BURNS OUT, EVEN AT AN EMPTY DECK. 424.1 defines Revealing as 'the act of presenting a card to all players from a zone that one or more players do not have access to the information of', and 431.1.c says a player who is instructed to look at or reveal in excess 'looks at or Reveals as many as possible, but does not Burn Out'; 431.1.c.1 extends that to the zone change that follows. So the Conservatory is safe in a shell where a draw would cost a point (431.1.a, 194.1.d).
- 190.6.d never bites here for the same reason it does not bite on a conquer trigger: 464.2.c.2 makes the Defender 'the player who did not apply the Contested status to the Battlefield', i.e. the one who already controls it, so 'when YOU defend here' presupposes you as its Controller.
- The payoff is 702.3-capped like every Karma line: one buff per unit ever, so the product is min(triggers, new unbuffed bodies). A wall that defends the same battlefield four turns running with no new units buys one buff and three dead triggers.
- And the standing predicate trap, printed on Karma herself: 'Runes aren't cards'. With 161.2.b ('When a Rune is Recycled it is returned to the Rune Deck, not the Main Deck'), every 164.2.b rune recycle in the game is invisible to her — which is why a 'when you recycle' predicate that does not exclude runes is wrong about this card.
Steps
- Bring Ravenbloom Conservatory as one of your three battlefields (485.5) and hold it with a garrison.
- Play Karma, Channeler (6 Energy + 1 Order Power).
- The opponent attacks the Conservatory. You are the Defender there (464.2.c.2).
- Its trigger fires: reveal the top card of your Main Deck (424.1; 431.1.c means no Burn Out even at an empty deck).
- If it is a spell, take it into hand and stop — no recycle, no Karma trigger.
- Otherwise recycle it (416.1.a, to the bottom), and Karma's trigger buffs a friendly unit without a buff (702.3), on the opponent's turn (383.3.c).
Per iteration
one reveal: +1 card if it is a spell, otherwise one recycle and one +1 Might buff — for no card and no Energy
How it ends
engine — either one free card or one +1 Might buff every combat you defend there, never both, decided by the deck's spell density; nothing here scores

AUTHORED 2026-09-07, issue #169, second pass over matrix row 18. SFD-215 Ravenbloom Conservatory was in ZERO entries. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; 103.1.b.3, 103.4.c, 161.2.b, 194.1.d, 383.3.c, 416.1.a, 424.1, 431.1.a, 431.1.c, 431.1.c.1, 464.2.c.2, 485.5, 702.3 opened in the Core Rules file. Both cards legal in both formats; neither is Signature. Card set OGN-235 + SFD-215 is not an existing uses[] set. No unruled reading. The second notable is the entry's own shortfall: the card looks like 'a card OR a buff, your choice' and the choice was made at deckbuilding.
