Run play
Prerequisites
- Three free units out of the trash for 1 Order Power, once per Mixologist. One Karthus gives two. Three copies (103.2.b) is nine bodies across a game, at 5 Energy + 1 Power each. CORRECTED 2026-10-26 (#465, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-24-the-blade-and-the-mixologist-land-on-the-same-turn-the-three-come-out-of-a-trash-their-attack-filled-and-one-rune-on-a-karthus-makes-it-two.md): each firing also pays the [Equip]'s Order Power, so it is 5 Energy and 2 Power per Mixologist, beside the Blade's own E3 and 1 Order Power once. netPerIteration counts the firing alone (the kill's 1 Order Power) and is unchanged.
- CORRECTION to the issue, which said the bodies land at your base. The Mixologist names no location, so 355.2.a applies: 'Valid locations include the controller's Base or a Battlefield the controller controls'. You choose.
- They still enter EXHAUSTED (143.4). Renata Glasc, Industrialist does not help here — 'Your tokens enter ready' reaches tokens, and these are cards.
- This is bodies, not tempo, and it has to say so: you cannot bolt [Accelerate] on, because 'ignoring its cost' collides with 356.5.a. That is the same reasoning by which reksai-sarcophagus-accelerated-recursion picked Cursed Sarcophagus and rejected this Mixologist.
- Against UNL-148 Cursed Sarcophagus, which is one body per turn and you PAY the costs: this is three at once and free, but once per Mixologist. Different shape, and the Sarcophagus is Chaos so the two never share a deck with Karthus.
- WHERE THE KARTHUS STAND - ADDED 2026-10-26 (#465, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-24-the-blade-and-the-mixologist-land-on-the-same-turn-the-three-come-out-of-a-trash-their-attack-filled-and-one-rune-on-a-karthus-makes-it-two.md). The entry did not say. 365.1 ('Passive Abilities of Permanents are typically only active while on the Board.') lets them work from base, and at base every "at a battlefield" card in the walked Fury/Chaos pool misses them (OGN-169 Gust, OGN-009 Hextech Ray, UNL-014 Monster Harpoon among the E1 ones). That is the line's main defence.
- NO ANSWER WAS NAMED - ADDED 2026-10-26 (#465, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-24-the-blade-and-the-mixologist-land-on-the-same-turn-the-three-come-out-of-a-trash-their-attack-filled-and-one-rune-on-a-karthus-makes-it-two.md). From the walked Fury/Chaos census (247 legal cards), not every deck's answers. The cheapest is one rune: VEN-107 Decree of Discord (Chaos, E1 + 1 Chaos Power): 'Return any number of enemy Order (:rb_rune_order:) units with total Might 5 or less to their owners' hands.' Two Karthus are 6 Might, so it takes one, from base, and the Deathknell runs twice: two bodies instead of three. OGN-029 Falling Star (Fury, E2 + 2 Fury Power): 'Deal 3 to a unit. Deal 3 to a unit.' kills both Karthus (M3) for two runes: one body, though both Karthus are then eligible fuel. There is no free answer: in the walk the only fuel was what their own attack killed, so not attacking keeps the trash empty (419.3.c) at the price of the Conquer.
Steps
- Board: two Karthus, Blade of the Ruined King, and Glasc Mixologist (5 Energy + 1 Power). Trash holds units costing at most 3 Energy and 1 Power. CORRECTED 2026-10-26 (#465, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-24-the-blade-and-the-mixologist-land-on-the-same-turn-the-three-come-out-of-a-trash-their-attack-filled-and-one-rune-on-a-karthus-makes-it-two.md): when the pieces arrive matters. Played on the turn of the kill, the Blade and the Mixologist are never on the board in one of the opponent's Main Phases: on your turn they get Priority only on a chain, where 309.1.a reads 'Only cards and abilities with the Reaction keyword can be played or activated in a Closed State.', and once the Mixologist leaves the chain (359.2) you pay the [Equip] at once. Played a turn early, the Blade dies to OGN-179 Acceptable Losses (Chaos, E1: '[Action] (Play on your turn or in showdowns.) Each player kills one of their gear.') and the Mixologist returns to hand from VEN-107 Decree of Discord (one rune). Together they cost E8 and two Order Power, and the [Equip] a third, so in the walk (Hand of Noxus going first, a Karthus on T2 and T3, the Vanguard Captain alone on T4) T5 was the first turn with eight Energy. HOW THE TRASH FILLS: the entry did not say. In the walk only the opponent's attack filled it. The Blade can fill it too, at one Order Power and one friendly unit per use, and a dead Karthus is eligible fuel (E3, 1 Power).
- Activate the Blade's [Equip] for 1 Order Power, attaching elsewhere and killing the Mixologist as the cost. CORRECTED 2026-10-26 (#465, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-24-the-blade-and-the-mixologist-land-on-the-same-turn-the-three-come-out-of-a-trash-their-attack-filled-and-one-rune-on-a-karthus-makes-it-two.md): the Blade is the TIMING, not the trigger. Any death of the Mixologist fires his Deathknell, 808.1.d.2: 'The trigger will be added to the chain as a Pending Item before the card with an ability that triggers on its own death is moved to the trash due to a Kill instruction or a Cleanup.' The opponent killing him gives the same three bodies; what the Blade adds is that you choose the turn.
- His Deathknell goes on the chain before he reaches the trash (428.1.a.1.b) and runs three times (Karthus ×2).
- Each instance plays one qualifying unit out of the trash ignoring its cost, to your base or to a battlefield you control (355.2.a). All three enter exhausted (143.4). CORRECTED 2026-10-26 (#465, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-24-the-blade-and-the-mixologist-land-on-the-same-turn-the-three-come-out-of-a-trash-their-attack-filled-and-one-rune-on-a-karthus-makes-it-two.md): and a [Legion] card comes back with its Legion on whenever you have finalized another card that turn, 812.1.c: 'As long as a card different than the one with the Legion ability has been Finalized by you on the same turn then the Dependent Ability is Active on the card with Legion.' On the turn you play the Mixologist that is always true; in the walk OGN-217 Trifarian Gloryseeker came back a 3. The three plays happen while each instance resolves on the chain, and units have no [Reaction]: the same 358.4 reading settled on rell-magnetic-recurve-bow-per-attack covers them (419.3.a, 410.2.b, 312.1.b.1, and the 358.3.a worked example).
Per iteration
three free units out of the trash for 1 Order Power, once per Mixologist
How it ends
engine — three bodies per Mixologist, nine across the three copies; it is a burst of bodies, not a loop

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-05 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-05-death-and-return-candidates.md), issue #36. One correction to the issue (the bodies are not confined to your base, 355.2.a) and one confirmation (they do enter exhausted, 143.4, and Renata does not reach them). Shares the Karthus + Blade skeleton with karthus-honest-broker-blade-gold, karthus-sacred-shears-blade-draw and karthus-machine-evangel-renata-plaza; this one pays in bodies. Trap check: no attack; no [Repeat]; no [Temporary]; no recall; no rune recycled for Power; the Power is spent in the Main Phase so 167 does not bite. No new rules reading — the stack is R1 = A. REVISED 2026-10-26 (#465, from the run play docs/plays/2026-10-24-the-blade-and-the-mixologist-land-on-the-same-turn-the-three-come-out-of-a-trash-their-attack-filled-and-one-rune-on-a-karthus-makes-it-two.md): its Leads applied as dated notes on steps 1, 2 and 4 and the first notable, plus two ADDED notables: where the Karthus stand, and the answers. Re-checked against data/corpus_flat.txt and the 2026-07-16 Core Rules (309.1.a, 359.2, 365.1, 808.1.d.2, 812.1.c, 419.3.c). The three plays from the trash are instructed plays on the chain, which the 358.4 reading settled on rell-magnetic-recurve-bow-per-attack covers. Each correction narrows a claim (when the pieces arrive, the Power per Mixologist, what the Blade adds) or adds one (Legion on); none removes the three bodies per Mixologist, so it stays verified. No unruled reading.
