Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Keeper of the Hammer in the Legend Zone. Get Arachnoid Horror onto a battlefield you control — from your base by Standard Move (144.4.a), or straight in under its own 355.2.b grant when the opponent is down to a single body there.
  2. Awaken Phase: 315.1.b readies the legend along with everything else you control.
  3. Scoring Step (315.2.b.2): you Hold every battlefield you control. Each Hold is a separate Score (469.2, 470) and so a separate trigger — 'When you hold, gain 1 XP' fires per Hold under 383.4.d.2.b, and Arachnoid Horror's [Hunt 2] adds 2 more on the battlefield it stands on.
  4. Main Phase (316): Spend 3 XP and exhaust the legend to Draw 1. That is the whole engine, and it is once per turn — the exhaust caps it, not the balance.
  5. Sequencing rule, if the deck runs [Level] cards: play UNL-151 Bandle Soldier or UNL-091 Concentrate BEFORE drawing, because their thresholds are read once as the card is played; and keep 9+ XP before drawing if a [Level 6] +Might body is on the board, because 824.1.d switches that off the instant the balance falls.
  6. Repeat every turn the board holds. XP that is not spent carries over (729, 733) and nothing the opponent controls can touch it (731, 731.1).

Per iteration

+3 XP per turn holding one battlefield with Arachnoid Horror on it, +4 holding two; -3 for one extra card

How it ends

engine only — one extra card per turn for the legend's exhaust, for as long as the board holds; no points and no loop, since nothing in the pool converts XP into Victory Points

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-issue116-champion-progression.md), issue #116 candidate C2. UNL-203 Keeper of the Hammer and UNL-117 Arachnoid Horror appeared in no entry's uses before this; UNL-203 was named in the prerequisites of poppy-confront-blood-rose and plaza-armory-miss-fortune, and the competition with the first is declared. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened: 103.1.b.2, 103.1.b.3, 103.2, 103.2.a.2, 144.4.a, 170.11.a, 315.1.b, 315.2.b.2, 316, 355, 355.2.a, 355.2.b, 356, 383.4.d.2.b, 431.1.a, 469.2, 470, 485.4, 729, 730.2, 731, 731.1, 733, 823.1.b, 823.1.c.1, 824.1.b.1, 824.1.d. Ban check: neither UNL-203 nor UNL-117 carries a [BANNED marker, and none of UNL-151, UNL-094, UNL-091, UNL-098 or UNL-116 does either. TWO CORRECTIONS TO THE ISSUE. (1) It counted the legend at 1 XP a turn ('banking 3 Holds' worth of XP (1 each)'); 315.2.b.2 Holds ALL battlefields you control and 485.4 gives a Duel two, so the ceiling is 2 — and at 2 the legend alone draws every other turn, which is why the [Hunt 2] partner is part of the entry rather than a footnote. (2) It treated XP as a ratchet; 824.1.d plus 730.2 make it a balance, and in Body/Order there are four [Level] cards whose thresholds each draw walks down by 3, split into a read-once family and a continuous one. The prompt's question about the Burn Out wall is answered in the entry: 431.1.a is not in play here and the Lux ledger's '0 spare draws' is a property of an empty-deck loop, not of a draw engine on a full deck. Trap check: no attack trigger; no [Repeat]; no [Temporary] (a [Temporary] body dies at 816.1.b before the Scoring Step and never Holds, which is why the [Hunt] partner is a printed unit); no token; no recall; no Gold; the Energy is spent in the Main Phase so 167 does not bite; the entry brings no battlefield of its own, so 190.6.d does not arise. Depends on no unruled reading.
