359.3.f.3: a trigger's information is read when its CONDITION is fulfilled, so Lillia's Sprite lands at the battlefield she left even if she is gone by the time it resolves
Pieces
- Lillia, Fae Fawn ×3
UNL-082 · payoff · mind
[Accelerate] (You may pay 1 Energy + 1 Mind Power as an additional cost to have me enter ready.) When I move from a location, play a 3 Might Sprite unit token with [Temporary] there. (Kill it at the start of its controller's Beginning Phase, before scoring.)
- Forgotten Signpost ×3
UNL-045 · engine · calm
[Action][>] Exhaust a unit you control, Exhaust: Move a different unit you control to the location of the unit you exhausted to pay for this ability.
Payoff
Deck
- Lillia is mono-Mind and the Signpost is mono-Calm, so the identity is Calm/Mind and 103.1.b.2 needs a legend covering both. Measured over data/cards.json those are OGN-255 / OGN-303 Nine-Tailed Fox, SFD-189 / SFD-244 Fire Below the Mountain, UNL-189 / UNL-230 Bashful Bloom and VEN-145 / VEN-192 Curator of the Sands.
- Neither is a Signature card (checked against data/cards.json), so 103.2.d.2 imposes no legend, and neither is banned or restricted in either format.
- The Signpost's cost exhausts a DIFFERENT unit you control plus itself, so the line needs a third body standing at your base as the anchor Lillia is moved to.
Prerequisites
- THE RULE, AND RIOT'S EXAMPLE IS THIS CARD. 359.3.f.3: 'Some information used by triggered abilities is referenced from the trigger condition of the ability. This information is checked when the trigger condition is fulfilled', with 'Lillia, Fae Fawn reads "when I move from a location, play a 3 [M] Sprite token with Temporary there." If Lillia moves to a battlefield, her triggered ability will be placed on the chain and it will note the location she moved from when it does so. If she moves to a non-board zone in reaction to the triggered ability on the chain, it will not affect where the Sprite token will be played when the triggered ability resolves.' 359.3.f.3, .f.3.a and .f.3.b are cited by no entry and no synergy rule in this project.
- SO THE SPRITE IS DELIVERED TO A BATTLEFIELD WITHOUT ANYTHING WALKING THERE. Move Lillia FROM a battlefield to your base and the Sprite is played at the battlefield she left - 'there' is the origin, locked when the trigger was placed. That is a 3-Might body arriving at a battlefield with no Standard Move, which is the bottleneck this project measures on every token line (144.4 confines the Standard Move to base and battlefield, and a base-born token needs a whole turn to walk).
- AND IT SURVIVES REMOVAL AIMED AT LILLIA. Because the location was read at the trigger CONDITION, killing or bouncing her in response does not move, redirect or cancel the Sprite. Compare 359.3.f.4, where 'enemy' and 'friendly' status is checked on EXECUTION - the two sub-rules pull in opposite directions and the difference is where the information comes from, not when the ability resolves.
- THE SIGNPOST IS THE FREE MOVER AND IT COSTS LILLIA NOTHING. 420.3.a puts the exhaust on the STANDARD Move only, and the Signpost is an effect move (449), so Lillia is moved while still ready and can Standard-move back to the battlefield in the same Main Phase - which fires the trigger a SECOND time, from the base this time, putting a Sprite at your base. One round trip a turn is two Sprites, one of them where you want it.
- THE SPRITE IS [Temporary] AND THAT IS THE CEILING. 816.1.b kills it 'At the start of this permanent's controller's Beginning Phase, before scoring', so it never Holds and never sees a Main Phase start - it is a blocker for exactly one opponent turn and a body for exactly one of your combats. Do not price it as a garrison; price it as a 3-Might wall delivered where you need it, free, every turn.
- AND ITS 3 MIGHT IS THE PART THAT MATTERS AGAINST A SWEEPER. 143.2.a kills on damage equal to Might, so a 3-Might Sprite ignores the 1-damage sweepers that clear every Recruit and Bird line in the format - the constraint this project measures as 'Might per body, not number of bodies'.
- ONE ACTIVATION A TURN. The Signpost's cost is its own exhaust plus another unit's, and 315.1.b readies both at your Awakening; 381 confines the [Action] ability to an Open State, though its [Action] marker (806.1.b) does let it fire inside a Showdown on your own turn.
- THE ANCHOR IS A PERMANENT REQUIREMENT, NOT AN OPENING COST, AND A SPRITE CAN NEVER BE IT (settled 2026-09-13, #200). Step 1 asks for a third body at your base and `UNL-045 Forgotten Signpost` spends it — *"Exhaust a unit you control, :rb_exhaust:: Move a different unit you control to the location of the unit you exhausted to pay for this ability"* — so the anchor must be a UNIT, at the base, READY, and different from Lillia, EVERY CYCLE. It is not in `uses`. The natural reading is that the engine feeds itself from the second cycle on, since step 2 puts a Sprite at the base. IT CANNOT, on two independent grounds. First, `UNL-082` plays *"a 3 :rb_might: Sprite unit token with [Temporary] there"* and does NOT say ready, so 143.4 (*"Units enter the Board exhausted"*) enters it exhausted and 414.1.b (*"A Game Object that is already Exhausted cannot be Exhausted again"*) with 203.3 makes it unable to pay the Signpost cost in the same Main Phase. Second, even waiting a turn fails: 315.1.b readies it at your Awakening and 816.1.b then kills it *"at the start of this permanent's controller's Beginning Phase, before scoring"* — the Awaken precedes the Beginning Phase, so the Sprite is readied and immediately dies and NEVER REACHES A MAIN PHASE IN WHICH IT COULD BE EXHAUSTED. So this engine needs a real body standing ready at the base on every turn it runs, and it supplies none. That is the requirement-gap class (#200): `uses` is what the matcher and the planner price, so without it `matchDeck` reports the line complete for a board that cannot turn it over once.
Steps
- Play UNL-082 Lillia, Fae Fawn (3 Energy, or pay the [Accelerate] cost to have her enter ready) and UNL-045 Forgotten Signpost (2 Energy). Keep a third body at your base as the Signpost's anchor.
- Standard-move Lillia from your base to a battlefield. Her trigger fires on leaving the base and puts a Sprite at your base - the location she moved FROM.
- In the same Main Phase, activate the Signpost: exhaust the base anchor and the Signpost itself, and move Lillia to the anchor's location, i.e. your base.
- The move is by effect (449), so 420.3.a's Standard-Move exhaust never applies and Lillia stays ready. Her trigger fires again, and 359.3.f.3 notes the BATTLEFIELD she just left.
- A 3-Might Sprite with [Temporary] is played at that battlefield, with nothing having walked there. Removal aimed at Lillia in response changes nothing - the location was read at the trigger condition.
- The Sprite blocks for the opponent's turn and dies at your next Beginning Phase (816.1.b), before scoring. Your Awakening readies the Signpost and the anchor and the cycle repeats.
- Three copies of each (103.2.b); one Signpost activation a turn.
Per iteration
one 3-Might body delivered to a battlefield per turn without any unit walking there, plus one at your base, for no Energy after setup
How it ends
engine only - nothing here scores. The Sprites are [Temporary] and die at your next Beginning Phase before scoring (816.1.b), and the Signpost is one activation a turn

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #187, sub-rule lane 100-499). 359.3.f.3, 359.3.f.3.a and 359.3.f.3.b are cited by no entry and no synergy rule in this project, and 359.3.f.3's worked example names UNL-082 Lillia, Fae Fawn while 359.3.f.3.b's names UNL-050 Iascylla. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened: 103.1.b.2, 103.2.b, 103.2.d.2, 143.2.a, 144.4, 315.1.b, 359.3.f.3, 359.3.f.4, 381, 420.3.a, 449, 806.1.b, 816.1.b. And 359.3.f.3.b settles Iascylla's 'this battlefield': it refers to the battlefield she HELD, referenced from the trigger condition. Distinct from lillia-smoke-mirrors-sprite-relay (UNL-082 + UNL-083, four Sprites out of spells) and from the three Forgotten Signpost entries. Trap check: the Sprite is [Temporary] and never Holds; the Signpost needs a third body as its anchor and that is stated in prerequisites rather than hidden; one activation a turn; no unruled reading.
