Payoff
Deck
- Body + Chaos, so three legend names (103.1.b.2): Bounty Hunter (OGN-267), Battle Mistress (SFD-203), Voidreaver (UNL-201).
- 1 Body Power for the [Equip], paid once; after that the relay is free every turn.
Prerequisites
- IT IS THE SAME MECHANISM AS THE VEX RELAY AND IT COSTS NOTHING TO ARM. `UNL-055 Vex, Mocking` relocates on a stun you have to supply; the Loyal Pup relocates on 'when you defend at a battlefield', which the opponent supplies by attacking. 420.3.a puts the exhaust cost on the Standard Move alone, so the effect move is free and needs no [Ganking] (810.1.c.3), and there is no Energy, no Power and no card in the trigger at all.
- AND HE ARRIVES IN TIME TO FIGHT. 464.2.c.3.a defers the designation of a body that becomes present after the Attacker/Defender step to 'the Cleanup phase following the action that caused it to become present'; 319.8 makes a Cleanup Outstanding 'After a Move is completed' and 323.2.a hands out the designation there. So a Pup sitting at your base joins whichever battlefield is attacked, in that combat's damage step, every turn.
- THE CUTLASS ANSWERS THE OBVIOUS COUNTERPLAY, AND THE WORDING IS EXACT. 'I can't be moved by enemy spells and abilities' is a prohibition, and 054.1 makes a card that forbids beat a card that permits — so the whole enemy-mover family (`OGN-043 Charm`, `UNL-202 Void Assault`, `UNL-101 Call to Battle`, `UNL-133 Blast Cone`) cannot drag him off the point. It says ENEMY, so it never interferes with the Pup's own relay or with any mover of yours.
- 434.1.d makes him a 5-Might defender (Might Bonus +2), which is the difference between a body that absorbs an attack and a body that dies to it — and 434.1.c is what appends the Cutlass's own protection clause to him in the first place.
- The relay is per combat, not per turn: 'when you defend at a battlefield' fires each time you are the Defender somewhere, so on a board with two battlefields under attack he goes to whichever one you choose, one per trigger. He cannot be in both.
- The counterplay the Cutlass does NOT answer is removal: 355.10.d's programmatic effects and any single-target kill still work, and 818.1's [Equip] has to be paid again if the Pup dies and a second one arrives.
Steps
- Play Loyal Pup (3 Energy) and leave him at your base.
- Play Jagged Cutlass (3 Energy) and [Equip] it to him for 1 Body Power (818.1). He is 5 Might (434.1.d) and cannot be moved by enemy spells or abilities (434.1.c, 054.1).
- On the opponent's turn they attack a battlefield you hold; you are the Defender there (464.2.c.2).
- The Pup's trigger fires: move him to that battlefield, free (420.3.a).
- The Cleanup that follows the move designates him a Defender (464.2.c.3.a, 319.8, 323.2.a), so he fights in that damage step at 5 Might.
- Repeat every combat; nothing is exhausted and nothing is spent.
Per iteration
one 5-Might body relocated into the defence for free, and immune to enemy movement
How it ends
engine — a 5-Might defender delivered to whichever battlefield is attacked, every combat, for no ongoing cost; nothing here scores

AUTHORED 2026-09-07, issue #173. SFD-126 Loyal Pup and VEN-073 Jagged Cutlass were both in ZERO entries. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; 054.1, 103.1.b.2, 319.8, 323.2.a, 355.10.d, 420.3.a, 434.1.c, 434.1.d, 464.2.c.2, 464.2.c.3.a, 810.1.c.3, 818.1 opened in the Core Rules file. Both cards legal in both formats; neither is Signature. No unruled reading. The comparison with the Vex, Mocking relay is the reason the entry is worth having: the same relocation for no enabler at all, at a third of the Energy, on a smaller body — and the Cutlass is what makes the smaller body hold.
