[Legion] — When you play me, discard 2, then draw 2. (Get the effect if you've played another card this turn.)
Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains must cover Chaos (Mask Mother) and Fury (Scrapyard Champion) — Loose Cannon, Dark Child ‑ Starter, Glorious Executioner, Bloodharbor Ripper, Master of Shadows.
Prerequisites
- THE TRIGGER FIRES FROM THE TRASH, AND THAT IS THE RULE THE PAIR STANDS ON. 422.1.b: '"When I am discarded" abilities or other Triggered Abilities that trigger on discarding are executed after discarding has occurred' — so Mask Mother is already in the trash when her ability runs, and 385.1 / 385.2 let a Triggered Ability outside the board self-describe its context. Discarding her is not a cost you pay, it is how you cast her.
- TWO IN ONE INSTRUCTION. Scrapyard Champion's 'discard 2, then draw 2' lets you choose both cards, so two Mask Mothers go at once for two separate triggers: 2 Energy for +4 Might this turn, aimed at one unit or split across two. And the 'then draw 2' makes the whole exchange CARD-NEUTRAL — you spend two cards you wanted to spend and replace them.
- It is exactly one discard EVENT, which matters if Jinx, Rebel is also in the deck (see jinx-rebel-square-up): 'when you discard one or more cards' fires once here, not twice. Mask Mother's own trigger is per copy discarded, because each copy has its own ability.
- [Legion] is free to satisfy and easy to forget: 812.1.c makes the dependent ability active 'as long as a card different than the one with the Legion ability has been Finalized by you on the same turn', and 812.2 says one card satisfies every instance. Play anything first — a rune does not count, it must be a card played. Play the Champion as your first card of the turn and he is a bare 5-Might body with no discard at all.
- The +2 is a continuous modifier and not a 702 buff, so 702.3's one-per-unit cap never applies and two triggers stack on one body. It also feeds nothing that spends a buff (OGN-146 Wallop, SFD-101 Fae Dragon) — those need a real buff counter.
- Priced whole: the Champion is 5 Energy + 1 Fury Power and the two Mask Mothers are cards you were going to discard, plus 1 Energy each to fire. Eight Energy for a 5-Might body, +4 Might this turn and no card lost. The ceiling is 103.2.b — three Mask Mothers, three Champions.
- Mask Mother is a 3-Might Chaos body if you ever draw her with nothing to discard her to; the entry treats her as a spell that lives in the hand, which is what she is.
Steps
- Play any card first, so [Legion] is active on the Champion (812.1.c, 812.2).
- Play Scrapyard Champion (5 Energy + 1 Fury Power). Its play trigger instructs you to discard 2, then draw 2.
- Discard both Mask Mothers. 422.1.b executes their triggers after the discard has occurred, from the trash.
- Pay 1 Energy for each trigger you want: give a friendly unit +2 Might this turn, twice — the same unit for +4, or two units for +2 each.
- Draw 2 from the Champion's own instruction: the exchange costs no cards.
Per iteration
+4 Might this turn for 2 Energy, card-neutral, plus a 5-Might body

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; 103.2.b, 385.1, 385.2, 422.1.b, 702.3, 812.1.c and 812.2 opened in the Core Rules file. Both cards checked against data/legality.json: legal in both formats. No unruled reading. Scrapyard Champion was chosen over the cheaper outlets in the list (OGN-023 Unlicensed Armory, UNL-125 Lunar Boon, OGN-008 Get Excited!) because it is the only one that discards TWO cards of your choosing in a single instruction and replaces them, which doubles the payoff and costs nothing in cards.
