Minefield and Last Rites fire on the SAME Conquer — 383.3.d orders them so the mill lands before the reanimation looks

- Last Rites is mono-Chaos and Minefield is Colorless, so 103.1.b.3 admits any legend with Chaos in its pair: SFD-195/SFD-246 Blade Dancer, UNL-185/UNL-228 Bloodharbor Ripper, OGN-267/OGN-309 Bounty Hunter, SFD-203/SFD-250 Battle Mistress, OGS-017 Dark Child - Starter, UNL-193/UNL-232 Gloomist, SFD-185/SFD-242 Glorious Executioner, VEN-155/VEN-197 Heart of the Tempest, OGN-251/OGN-301 Loose Cannon, VEN-143/VEN-191 Master of Shadows, SFD-199/SFD-248 Prodigal Explorer, UNL-197/UNL-234 Scorn of the Moon, VEN-151/VEN-195 Soul's Reflection, OGN-263/OGN-307 Swift Scout, OGN-259/OGN-305 Unforgiven, UNL-201/UNL-236 Voidreaver.

Prerequisites
- THE ORDER IS THE ENTRY, AND IT IS THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. Both triggers fire on the same Conquer. 383.3.d lets the controller choose the order they are PLACED on the Chain, and 340.1 resolves 'the newest Finalized Chain Item' first — so to have Minefield's mill land BEFORE Last Rites looks at the trash, Minefield must be placed LAST. Place Last Rites first, Minefield second.
- AND NEITHER COST IS PAID AT FINALIZATION HERE, WHICH IS WHY THE ORDERING IS ENOUGH. Last Rites' clause is 'you may play a unit from your trash' with no cost sitting immediately after the 'you may', so 383.3.b does not make anything a base cost and 205's 'game action at resolution' shape applies — unlike OGN-282 Monastery of Hirana, whose 'you may spend a buff to draw 1' IS a base cost and cannot be paid by a trigger of the same batch.
- 'YOU STILL PAY ITS COSTS' IS PRINTED ON THE CARD, so this is card advantage and not tempo: the unit milled this turn can be played from the trash this turn only if you can afford it. A cheap body is the honest target.
- IT NEEDS A REPEATABLE CONQUER AT THIS BATTLEFIELD. 315.2.b.2 makes the Hold mandatory and 470 caps Scoring at once per battlefield per turn, so a conquer battlefield taken and kept fires exactly once in the game; sprite-queen-targon-peak-conquer-cycle is the feed written for that, with Minefield swapped in for Targon's Peak.
- BURN OUT IS THE CEILING AND IT IS NOT OPTIONAL. Two cards a turn out of a 39-card deck (103.2 counts the Chosen Champion inside the 40 and 103.2.a.1 removes it before play), with no 'may' to decline it, and 431.1.b makes milling past the deck a Burn Out. Worse, 431.2.b then RECYCLES YOUR WHOLE TRASH into the Main Deck, which erases the currency this entry runs on — so the mill has to be counted, not just enjoyed.
- A TOKEN CAN NEVER BE REANIMATED THIS WAY: 185 ('Tokens are not cards') and 186.1 (a token ceases to exist on entering any Non-Board Zone) keep every token out of the trash, so Last Rites can only ever see real cards.
- 204.3.a IS THE FIRST AND CLEANER SOURCE FOR THIS, AND IT CARRIES THE WORKED EXAMPLE: "When Costs within Instructions appear as the first part of the effect in triggered abilities, the cost is taken to be the base cost of the triggered ability. It must be paid to finalize the triggered ability", with Riot's example being Overzealous Fan - "When I defend, you may kill me to move an attacking unit to its base" - and the note that "in order to finalize the ability to the chain, its controller must kill Overzealous Fan". 383.3.b says the same thing later in the book. The companion is 204.3.b: a cost appearing in a SPELL, in an ACTIVATED ability, or in a LATER part of a trigger's effect is paid on resolution instead, which is the 205 "pay X. If you do, Y" family and the reason the two look alike on the card and behave differently on the chain.
Steps
- Attach Last Rites to the body that will do the conquering. Its [Equip] cost is one Chaos rune plus recycling two cards from your trash, so the trash must already hold two — an earlier Conquer at Minefield, or any other trash filler, pays for it.
- Conquer Minefield. Both triggers fire simultaneously.
- Order them with 383.3.d: place Last Rites' trigger on the Chain FIRST and Minefield's SECOND, so that 340.1 resolves Minefield first.
- Minefield resolves: the top 2 cards of your Main Deck go to your trash. Count what is left in the deck first (431.1.b).
- Last Rites resolves: you may play a unit from your trash, paying its costs — including whichever one Minefield just put there.
- Repeat on the next Conquer at this battlefield, at whatever rate the conquer engine supplies.
Per iteration
two cards into the trash and one unit played back out of it, per Conquer at Minefield
How it ends
engine only — one reanimation per Conquer, bounded by what you can pay for and by Burn Out (431.1.a, 431.1.b), which 431.2.b then punishes a second time by recycling the trash away; nothing here scores

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07, issue #171 — the first entry to use SFD-212. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. The ordering is stated as place-last-to-resolve-first because 340.1 is newest-first, which is the opposite of the intuitive reading and is the same pair of paragraphs this walk used for monastery-hirana-warmogs-conquer-draw — with the difference between the two spelled out (383.3.b makes the Monastery's cost payable only at finalization; Last Rites has no such cost). Trap check: 431.1.b and 431.2.b are both cited, because the second is what makes a Burn Out fatal to a trash deck rather than merely expensive; 185 / 186.1 are cited so no token is imagined in the trash; the needs declaration is stated with 315.2.b.2 + 470; exactly one battlefield is named, so 485.4.a is respected.
