Combo · ENGINE
THREE LOOKS AGAINST A STATIC, AND THAT IS THE ENTRY'S REAL CONTENT - about one game in five, bought by dropping a domain so the Nocturne trick runs under ANY Chaos legend
Pieces
- Mystic Poro ×3
OGN-171 · engine · chaos
[Vision] (When you play me, look at the top card of your Main Deck. You may recycle it.)
- Nocturne, Horrifying ×3
OGN-194 · payoff · chaos
[Ganking] (I can move from battlefield to battlefield.) As you look at or reveal me from the top of your deck, you may banish me. If you do, you may play me for 1 Power of any domain.

Deck
- Both cards are mono-Chaos, so 103.1.b.3 admits ANY legend with Chaos in its pair. That permissiveness is the entry's whole reason to exist and is stated as such below.
Prerequisites
- THE SHORTFALL IS THE HEADLINE AND HERE IS THE ARITHMETIC. Three Mystic Poros are three one-card looks in a game. 103.2 counts the Chosen Champion inside the 40 and 103.2.a.1 sets it aside before play, so the Main Deck is 39 and holds three Nocturnes (103.2.b). Modelled as three uniform one-card looks with the misses recycled to the bottom (416.1), the chance of seeing a Nocturne at all is 1 - (36/39)(35/38)(34/37) = 0.219 - ABOUT ONE GAME IN FIVE. The same model over the eight or so units a Gemcraft Seer's static would look through gives 0.508. So this package converts a Nocturne roughly HALF as often as gemcraft-seer-nocturne-vision-replacement-deploy, and that entry is the stronger version of the same line by a wide margin.
- WHAT IT BUYS IS DECKBUILDING FREEDOM, AND THE CATALOGUE HAS NOTHING ELSE ON THIS LINE FOR IT. The Seer is mono-Mind, so that entry forces one of exactly four Mind/Chaos legend names - OGN-263/OGN-307 Swift Scout, SFD-199/SFD-248 Prodigal Explorer, UNL-197/UNL-234 Scorn of the Moon, VEN-151/VEN-195 Soul's Reflection (census run against data/cards.json). This package is mono-Chaos end to end, so it rides in ANY Chaos pair as a two-card package that asks nothing of the rest of the deck. It is the forced-shell argument inverted: elsewhere in this catalogue a Colourless card is the only route INTO an identity, and here dropping a domain is the point.
- THE POROS ARE NOT DEAD CARDS, WHICH IS WHY THE 22% IS PAYABLE. A 2 Energy 2 Might body with a free look is a card a Chaos deck would run for the body and the deck-fixing alone; [Vision]'s recycle is a scry that costs nothing (431.1.c and 431.1.c.1 keep looking and the zone change that follows free of Burn Out, so it is safe even with the deck empty). The Nocturnes are the copies that cost something: each one drawn normally is a vanilla 4 Energy + 1 Power body.
- THE MECHANISM IS THE SAME REPLACEMENT EFFECT AND IT IS WORTH RESTATING ONLY BY REFERENCE. 370.1.b.1 makes an 'as' clause a Replacement Effect and not a Triggered Ability - the look IS the banish and the play - so there is no Chain Item, nothing to counter, no trigger multiplier reaches it, 371.2 makes the 'may' legal, 370.2 allows one application per event, and 312.1.b.1 lets the instructed play happen with no Priority. All of that is walked in gemcraft-seer-nocturne-vision-replacement-deploy and is not re-derived here.
- THE VERB IS STILL WHY IT WORKS: Nocturne says 'look at OR reveal', while 436.1 defines Predict and 817.1.b defines [Vision] with 'look at' and 424.1 makes revealing a public presentation. SFD-175 Undertitan's 'As I'm revealed' cannot be fed by a [Vision] at all.
- IT SCORES NOTHING AND DELIVERS ONE BODY. [Ganking] is all Nocturne does once he lands (810.1.c.3: it adds destinations to the Standard Move and grants no extra movement), so the class is ENGINE.
- CROSS-REFERENCE, BOTH DIRECTIONS: gemcraft-seer-nocturne-vision-replacement-deploy is the stronger version and names the rules mechanism; this row exists for the identity, states its own shortfall in its name, and the other entry should name this one back.
- WHY AN ABILITY ON A CARD NOBODY HAS PLAYED WORKS AT ALL, WHICH THIS FAMILY CITED FOR NEITHER (upgrade 2026-09-12, #187 batch 15). Every entry in the Undertitan/Nocturne family cites 370.1.b.1, which says what KIND of ability it is and nothing about why it is active in the Main Deck. Three paragraphs answer that: **365.1 is the DEFAULT that would kill the family** - *"Passive Abilities of Permanents are typically only active while on the Board"*; **366.1 is the OVERRIDE** - *"Passive Abilities of cards in zones that are outside of the Board will self-describe their context"* - which was cited by TWO entries out of 762, neither of them here; and **368.1** - *"Passive Abilities can be Replacement Effects"* - had ZERO citations anywhere and is the hinge, because it is what makes 366.1 rather than 385.1 the applicable block. This project carries 385.1 and 385.2, the TRIGGERED-outside-the-board pair, at 16 and 42 citations and had never had the passive counterpart, so a reader reaches for 385 and gets the wrong block. **424.1.a.2** completes it - cards remain in the zone they are being Revealed from, with Riot naming the top of the Main Deck - which is why the self-described context is satisfied at the instant the passive fires.
- 370.3 IS THE NARROWEST AND MOST ON-POINT PARAGRAPH FOR THIS CARD AND IT WAS MISSING FROM THE WHOLE FAMILY (self-audit upgrade 2026-09-12, #187 batch 20). The earlier pass prescribed 365.1, 366.1, 368.1 and 424.1.a.2, which are about PASSIVE ABILITIES IN GENERAL. **370.3 is about REPLACEMENT EFFECTS AND ZONES SPECIFICALLY**: *"If a Game Object has a Replacement Effect that is active in a specific zone, it is evaluated and subsequently applied if it enters that zone before an event occurs that it could replace."* Measured on 2026-09-12 it was cited by **exactly ONE entry in 762** and by none of this family. 366.1 says a passive outside the board self-describes its context; 370.3 says a replacement effect can be ACTIVE IN A ZONE and is applied if the object entered that zone first - and for a card sitting in the Main Deck since the game began that timing half is free, **which is exactly why it is easy to leave out** and why its worked example is the case where the half BITES.
Steps
- Build any Chaos deck. Neither card asks for a second domain, a battlefield or a board state.
- Play OGN-171 Mystic Poro as a normal 2-drop. [Vision] looks at the top card of your Main Deck.
- If it is OGN-194 Nocturne, apply his Replacement Effect (370.1.b.1): the look IS the banish and the play. Pay one rainbow Power and he arrives; 355.2.a puts him at your base or a battlefield you control.
- If it is not, use [Vision]'s own recycle to bottom it (416.1) and take the next look with the next Poro.
- Expect this to convert in about one game in five on three copies of each. Everything above that is the Poro bodies and the deck-fixing, which is what makes the package affordable.
Per iteration
one look per Mystic Poro, and a 4 Might [Ganking] body for one rainbow Power on the look that shows Nocturne
How it ends
engine only - three looks per game at 103.2.b's three copies, a measured 21.9% chance of converting one Nocturne, and nothing here scores

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; the Mind/Chaos legend census and the probability were both computed rather than typed. Closes the fifth of the eleven walkable uncatalogued deckable cards. The entry's NAME is its own shortfall on purpose, in the ferrous-forerunner shape: the mechanism belongs to gemcraft-seer-nocturne-vision-replacement-deploy, which converts roughly twice as often, and what this row adds is that it runs under any Chaos legend instead of four Mind/Chaos names. THE BACK-LINK IS OWED: the Seer entry does not name this one (checked, 2026-09-12), and a cross-reference that exists in one direction only is the defect two lanes shipped this week.
