Combo · ENGINE
A Gold token is a GEAR, so a token engine is also a gear count - and the Porobot is the card that reads it
Pieces
- Plundering Poro ×3
SFD-069 · engine · mind
When I conquer, play a Gold gear token exhausted.
- Patched Porobot ×3
VEN-058 · payoff · mind
(I enter exhausted.) When you play me, if you control 3 or more other gear, draw 1.
Payoff
Deck
- Both cards are mono-Mind, so 103.1.b.3 admits any legend with Mind in its pair.
- Neither card is banned or restricted in either format, and neither is a Signature card.
- Three OTHER gear on the board when the Porobot's trigger executes - the word 'other' excludes nothing here, since the Porobot is a unit, but it does exclude counting the same gear twice.
Prerequisites
- THE GOLD TOKEN IS A GEAR BY RULE, WHICH IS THE WHOLE ENTRY. 187.5: 'A Gold gear token is a domainless gear token with "[Reaction][>] Kill this, [E]: [Add] [A]."' And 185.2.d: 'Tokens have a type. They follow all rules for their type unless otherwise specified.' So every Gold on your board counts toward any 'control N or more gear' threshold, and a Conquer engine in Mind is also a gear engine at no extra cost.
- AND THE THRESHOLD IS READ ON EXECUTION. 359.3.f.2 - 'Information referenced in an instruction in this way will be checked on execution of the instruction' - so the Porobot counts the board as its play trigger resolves, and a Gold minted earlier the same turn counts. Hold the Porobot until the Conquer has happened.
- THE OTHER CARDS THAT READ THE SAME COUNT, NAMED. Swept over the corpus for gear-count clauses: VEN-058 Patched Porobot (3 or more other gear, draw 1), SFD-072 Dropboarder (2 or more gear, ready me), VEN-064 Plaza Guardian (costs 1 Energy less for each gear you control) and VEN-076 Repair Specialist ([Assault] equal to the number of gear you control). A Gold engine turns on all four, and the first three are in this domain pair - VEN-064 Plaza Guardian is mono-Mind as well - and only VEN-076 needs a different identity.
- THE GOLD ITSELF IS NOT FREE MANA, AND THE REASON IS THE WORD 'EXHAUSTED'. Both sources print 'play a Gold gear token exhausted', and 187.5's ability costs the token's own exhaust - so a Gold made this way cannot pay for anything until your next Awakening readies it (415.3.a). The one card in the pool that overrides that is SFD-171 Renata Glasc, Industrialist ('Your tokens enter ready', ruled R25 = A), which is mono-Order and therefore needs a Mind/Order legend; without her, treat the Gold as a gear COUNT that becomes a Power next turn, not as ramp now.
- THE CONQUER IS THE COST, AND IT IS CAPPED. 469.1 defines a Conquer on a battlefield 'not yet Scored this turn', 470 caps Scoring at once per battlefield per turn and 485.4 puts two on a Duel table - so at most two Golds a turn from Poros however many you run. Three Poros on one battlefield produce ONE Gold between them per Conquer, since the trigger is on each Poro but only one Conquer happens there.
- AND THE PORO IS ALSO THE CHEAPEST BODY THAT WANTS TO CONQUER. 2 Energy and 2 Might, so it is the body you send at an empty or lightly held battlefield - which 344.2 takes with a Showdown and no combat at all, no Attacker designation and no damage.
- WHAT IT IS NOT. The Poro's Conquer scores a point by 469.1 and 471.1, but neither card in this entry causes a Conquer that would not have happened - the Gold and the draw are riders on a point you were taking anyway.
- A BLOODLESS CONQUER IS NOT A FAIT ACCOMPLI, AND 46 OF THE 47 ENTRIES CITING 344.2 DID NOT SAY SO (added 2026-09-12, #187 batch 25). **316.8.b.1.a**: during a Non-Combat Showdown *"units controlled by a different player may become present at the Battlefield where the Showdown is"*, which converts it to a COMBAT Showdown in the following cleanup - so the opponent can turn your uncontested walk-in into a fight. 316.8.c is the permission (a Showdown is a Window of Opportunity for [Action] and [Reaction] cards). **The answer set is THREE CARDS, swept on the ACTOR rather than on the destination**: `OGN-173 Ride the Wind` (Chaos, E2+1), `OGN-262 Zenith Blade` (Calm/Order, E3+2) and `SFD-184 Relentless Pursuit` (Fury/Body, E2+1) - twelve printings move a friendly unit, and nine of them send it to base or need a body already there. They span three identities, so **no identity is safe**; and `OGN-262 Zenith Blade` is the worst to walk into, because it STUNS your body on the way in, and 423.1.b removes a stunned unit`s contribution to the damage step while 423.1.c keeps its full Might as the price to kill it - one 3-Energy card takes the unit and the battlefield. **[Ambush] is not a fourth answer**: 822.1.b needs a battlefield where the player already has units, and the defining feature of that board is that they have none there. **THE REMEDY IS A COUNTERSPELL, AND A FIRST VERSION OF THIS NOTABLE SAID SOMETHING FALSE THAT IS WITHDRAWN HERE (corrected within the hour, 2026-09-12).** It said that because all three answers are [Action] and 358.4 admits an Action card only as the card that CLOSES the state, the attacker - who holds Focus by 345 and priority by 335.1 - could shut them out by playing any cheap Action card first. Every step is true and the conclusion is false, because **a Showdown is a LOOP, not a single window**: 346 - *"When the last item on the chain resolves and the turn returns to an Open State during a Showdown, Focus passes, and the next Player gains both Focus and Priority"* - with 347.1.b and 347.2.a. Closing the state buys a lock-out lasting exactly that CHAIN; when it resolves the Showdown reopens, Focus passes TO THE DEFENDER, and they play their answer into an open Showdown after all. **The real sequence**: walk in, take Focus, **PASS** (acting first gains nothing); they play the answer, which closes the state as it is played; **you COUNTER it**, since 358.4`s other half now admits only [Reaction] and all eleven of the pool`s counters are Reaction, and 425.1.c refunds them nothing; all players then pass in sequence, 347.2.a ends the Showdown, and 348.2.a with 348.2.a.1 give you Control and the Conquer. The cheap counter is `OGN-045 Defy` (Calm, E1 + 1 Power, *"counter a spell that costs no more than 4 Energy and no more than one rainbow"*), which covers all three answers; `OGN-064 Wind Wall` is the unconditional one. **So the protection narrows to pairs containing CALM** - it is not the one-Energy insurance any deck can buy.
Steps
- Play Plundering Poro (2 Energy) and take a battlefield with it. 469.1 gains the point and the trigger plays a Gold gear token exhausted.
- Repeat at the second battlefield if you can (470 with 485.4 caps you at two Conquers a turn).
- Once three gear are on the board - Golds count, by 187.5 with 185.2.d - play Patched Porobot (2 Energy) and draw 1. 359.3.f.2 reads the count on execution, so the Golds minted this turn are already there.
- Each Gold becomes 1 Power of any domain from your next Awakening (415.3.a readies it; 187.5's ability costs its own exhaust).
- With a Mind/Order legend and SFD-171 Renata Glasc, Industrialist on the board, the Golds enter ready instead and are Power the turn they appear (R25 = A).
Per iteration
one Gold gear token per Conquer, counting toward every gear threshold at once, and one card per Porobot played past three
How it ends
engine only - two Conquers a turn by 470 with 485.4, three Porobots by 103.2.b, and each Gold is a single Power once readied; nothing here scores beyond the Conquer the Poro was making anyway

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #188). The first entry to use SFD-069 Plundering Poro or VEN-058 Patched Porobot. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened and quoted: 103.1.b.3, 103.2.b, 185.2.d, 187.5, 344.2, 359.3.f.2, 415.3.a, 469.1, 470, 471.1, 485.4. SFD-069 has a second printing, UNL-222; CardIndex.equivalents folds them. The entry's content is that 187.5 makes a Gold a GEAR, so a Conquer engine doubles as a gear count - and the 'exhausted' half is stated so nobody prices a Gold as ramp on the turn it appears. Ban check: neither card is banned or restricted; neither is a Signature card. No unruled reading.
