Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains are Body and Order: UNL-203 Keeper of the Hammer (Poppy), whose 'When you hold, gain 1 XP' feeds the same pool Blood Rose spends.
Prerequisites
- THE TWO READIES ARE NOT REDUNDANT, THEY COVER DIFFERENT CASES. Poppy's own ready fires only 'if an opponent's score is within 3 points of the Victory Score' - 383.2.a.1 makes that clause part of the Trigger Condition, so when the opponent is behind she enters exhausted and does nothing. Confront's 'units you play this turn enter ready' has no condition. Running both is the difference between a card that works and a card that works when you are losing.
- THE 3 XP IS ONE BLOOD ROSE ACTIVATION TO THE DIGIT: 'Spend 3 XP, exhaust: Ready a unit' against Poppy's 'gain 3 XP'. That is the second ready, and it is what turns one body into two conquers.
- BLOOD ROSE IS ONCE A TURN. Its cost carries an exhaust, so 315.1.b readies it in your next Awaken and no amount of XP buys a second activation in the same turn.
- IT IS TWO POINTS AT MOST. 470 caps Scoring at once per Battlefield per turn and a Duel has two battlefields (485.4). #62's table calls it 'un turno grande, no un motor'; the walk keeps it as an ENGINE because Blood Rose keeps producing an extra ready every turn on XP the legend also feeds, long after Poppy's one-off is spent.
- The XP faucet on Blood Rose - 'When you play a unit, you may pay 1 Energy to gain 1 XP' - is what keeps it live after Poppy: 3 Energy across three unit plays is a ready.
Steps
- Blood Rose on the board from an earlier turn.
- Play Confront (2 Energy): units you play this turn enter ready, and draw 1.
- Play Poppy, Paragon (5 Energy). She enters ready because of Confront, and if the opponent is within 3 points of winning she also readies herself and gains 3 XP.
- Move her in and conquer: Establishing Control is a Conquer (466.5.d) and Scores.
- Activate Blood Rose: spend the 3 XP and exhaust it to ready a unit - Poppy.
- Standard Move her to the second battlefield and conquer that too.
- On later turns, Blood Rose keeps paying: 1 Energy per unit played buys 1 XP, and the legend's 'When you hold, gain 1 XP' adds one more.
Per iteration
+2 points on the turn Poppy lands; afterwards, one extra ready per turn for 3 XP
How it ends
engine only - one extra ready a turn once the XP is flowing; two points on the Poppy turn itself

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-issue62-table-of-fourteen.md), issue #62 section 2.6. UNL-203 Keeper of the Hammer had no entry. The obvious objection to this trio is that Confront and Poppy both ready her, so one is wasted; the walk checked it and they are not redundant - 383.2.a.1 makes Poppy's ready conditional on the opponent being within 3 points of winning, and Confront's is not conditional at all, so the pair covers both board states. That is also why #62's 'un turno grande, no un motor' is only half right: the big turn is real, and Blood Rose keeps producing a ready a turn afterwards on XP the legend feeds. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Trap check: no attack trigger; no [Repeat]; no [Temporary]; no token; no recall; 143.4 is the very thing Confront is there to override. Depends on no unruled reading.
