Disintegrate spends exactly the 4 Energy Prepared Neophyte's line asks for, so a 3-Energy 1-Might body fights at 5

Deck
- Mono-Fury, so any of the sixteen legend names carrying Fury holds it (103.1.b.1): Daughter of the Void (OGN-247), Relentless Storm (OGN-249), Loose Cannon (OGN-251), Hand of Noxus (OGN-253), Dark Child - Starter (OGS-017), Mechanized Menace (SFD-181), Purifier (SFD-183), Glorious Executioner (SFD-185), Void Burrower (SFD-187), Virtuoso (UNL-181), Pridestalker (UNL-183), Bloodharbor Ripper (UNL-185), Piltover Enforcer (UNL-187), Rogue Assassin (VEN-139), Butcher of the Sands (VEN-141), Master of Shadows (VEN-143).
- A DECKBUILDING CONSTRAINT: no cost reduction anywhere in the list. See the second notable.
Prerequisites
- AN OPPONENT'S [DEFLECT] TAX DOES NOT HELP THIS CARD - CORRECTED 2026-10-13 (#325, #327). Until 2026-10-13 this notable said the opponent's [Deflect] pays for the Neophyte: that the tax is an additional cost, is spent, and so pushes you further past his threshold. It is spent, but in the wrong resource. 809.1.c: 'It is functionally short for "Spells and abilities an opponent controls that target [me/this] cost an amount of Power equal to [Deflect Value] more to play as an additional cost for each time they choose [me/this]."' 163.1: 'Energy is used to pay numeric Energy costs.' 163.2: 'Power is used to pay Domain-associated Power Costs.' The Neophyte's line is printed :rb_energy_4:, four ENERGY, so the Power you pay to aim Disintegrate at a [Deflect] body counts toward nothing here: 166.2 / 203.1 make an additional cost spent, and the resource it is spent in still decides which line it reaches. The line never needed the tax anyway - Disintegrate's printed 4 Energy meets the threshold on its own. PREDICATE, swept 2026-10-13 over data/cards.json for a 'spent' clause followed by a resource icon: six card names, seven base codes. FIVE read Energy, all :rb_energy_4: - UNL-004 Prepared Neophyte, UNL-005 Revna the Lorekeeper, UNL-089 Jhin, Meticulous Killer, UNL-181 / UNL-226 Virtuoso, UNL-211 Forgotten Library - and a Deflect tax moves none of them. ONE reads Power, SFD-143 Sivir, Mercenary, and there 809.1.c.1 ('The Power used to pay this cost may always be of any Domain.') does let the tax count: an opponent's protection helps exactly one 'spent' line in the pool, and it is not this one.
- AND A [REPEAT] COST IS SPENT TOO, WHICH IS THE CHEAP WAY OVER THE LINE. 820.1.c.1: 'The Cost is an Additional Cost to be paid during the steps of playing the spell or ability.' So a 1-Energy spell with a 3-Energy [Repeat] crosses a 'spent 4 or more' threshold that a 6-Energy spell discounted to 3 fails — the constructive half of the split this catalogue records between 'costs N' (206, printed) and 'spent N' (166.2, actual).
- SO EVERY DISCOUNT IN THE DECK IS AN ANTI-SYNERGY, AND FURY PRINTS SEVERAL. `OGN-031 Raging Firebrand` ('the next spell you play this turn costs 5 Energy less') is the extreme case — it takes Disintegrate to 0 and switches the Neophyte off entirely. `SFD-141 Irelia, Graceful` does the same one component at a time. A list built on 'spent' cards and a list built on discounts are different lists.
- THE THRESHOLD IS EXACTLY MET AND NOT EXCEEDED, WHICH IS WHY THIS PAIR AND NOT ANOTHER: Disintegrate's printed 4 Energy is the cheapest spell in mono-Fury that reaches 'spent 4 or more' with no help at all, and it carries a conditional cantrip on top ('If this kills it, do this: draw 1'). The Neophyte is Might 1 without it and Might 5 with it, from a 3-Energy body.
- IT IS A PASSIVE, SO IT IS NOT SNAPSHOTTED AND IT IS NOT A BUFF. 'I have +4 :rb_might:' is a continuous, conditional modifier, so 477.3.b's snapshotting rule (which is written for non-passive arithmetic effects) does not apply, 702.3's one-Buff cap is silent, and the +4 switches on and off with the condition rather than being fixed at the moment the spell was cast.
- AND IT LASTS THE TURN, NOT THE COMBAT. The condition is 'this turn', so the Neophyte is a 5-Might body for every combat that turn once the spell is cast — cast the spell BEFORE you move him (144.2), not in response to the damage step.
- ONE ENERGY AT REACTION SPEED ANSWERS THE BODY THIS ENGINE STANDS ON (Prepared Neophyte (M1 x1)). OGN-133 Flurry of Blades is Body, 1 Energy: "[Reaction] (Play any time, even before spells and abilities resolve.) Deal 1 to all units at battlefields." 143.2.a kills a unit whose marked damage equals or exceeds its Might and 142.4.b defines Lethal Damage as "a non-zero amount greater than or equal to that Unit's Might", so one damage is lethal to every body of Might 1 or less. RUNNING MORE COPIES IS NOT A DEFENCE: 370.1.a.2 makes events simultaneous when they "are all the result of the same Game Action", so the sweep kills every copy at once. And because it carries [Reaction], 813.1.c.1 lets it be played "during Closed States on any player's turn" - it never has to be cast a turn early the way the base-reaching removals do, and it can land in response to the very trigger this engine exists to fire. WHAT PROTECTS IT: this entry's cards are fury, so the second domain is still free and CHOOSING IT DECIDES WHICH PROTECTION YOU GET - 103.1.b allows exactly one partner, so these are alternatives and not a list you can run together. already in this identity: VEN-018 Rage Amplifier (gear, 'Your units have +1 Might' - the only UNCONDITIONAL board-wide one, +2 while Empowered) | only if the second domain is ORDER: OGN-243 Darius, Executioner ('Other friendly units have +1 Might HERE' - his battlefield only, and never himself); OGS-013 Garen, Commander (same clause as Darius, same limits) | only if the second domain is MIND: UNL-077 Soul Shepherd ('Your TOKEN units have +1 Might' - tokens only, nothing for a printed body); SFD-089 Rumble, Scrapper ('Your MECHS have +1 Might' - Mech tag only) | colourless, so legal whatever the second domain is: OGN-294 Trifarian War Camp (colourless battlefield, 'Units here have +1 Might') - but 485.5 makes a battlefield you bring a 1-in-3, and 103.4.c forbids two of the same name. A single-target pump is no use against a sweep that hits every body at once, which is why only permanent, board-wide sources are listed.
Steps
- Play Prepared Neophyte (3 Energy). He is a 1-Might body until a spell is cast.
- In the same Main Phase, play Disintegrate (4 Energy) at a unit at a battlefield: 3 damage, and a card if it dies.
- You have now spent 4 Energy to play a spell this turn, so the Neophyte is Might 5 for the rest of the turn.
- If the target carries [Deflect], pay the extra Power (809.1.c). It is Power, not Energy (163.1, 163.2), so it does not count toward the Neophyte's :rb_energy_4: line - the 4 Energy from step 2 already met it. (Corrected 2026-10-13, #327: this step said the tax is spent and so only widens the margin.)
- Move the Neophyte in (144.2, 144.4) and fight at 5.
Per iteration
3 damage, a conditional draw, and +4 Might on a 1-Might body, for 4 Energy
How it ends
engine — a 3-Energy body that is Might 5 on every turn you cast a 4-Energy spell, plus removal and a conditional card; nothing here scores

UNL-004 Prepared Neophyte and OGN-005 Disintegrate were both in ZERO entries. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; 103.1.b.1, 144.2, 144.4, 166.2, 203.1, 206, 356.4.b, 477.3.b, 702.3, 806.1.b, 809.1.c, 809.1.c.1, 820.1.c.1 opened (163.1 and 163.2 added 2026-10-13) in the Core Rules file. The first notable is the constructive inversion of a refusal this walk already recorded in §1.6 (a discount switches a 'spent' threshold off): the same paragraphs say that an ADDITIONAL cost paid in Energy switches it on ([Repeat], 820.1.c.1). CORRECTED 2026-10-13 (#325, #327): until then this note ended 'and an opponent's [Deflect] is exactly that', and the entry was named and stepped on it. A Deflect tax is Power (809.1.c) and 163.1 / 163.2 keep Energy and Power separate resources, so it cannot reach the Neophyte's Energy line. The entry was renamed that day: old id prepared-neophyte-disintegrate-spent-threshold, old name 'A [Deflect] tax RAISES what you spent, so the opponent's protection turns a 1-Might body into a 5-Might one'. No unruled reading.
