718.2 makes an attached Equipment's [Equip] Inactive — so the only repeatable gear activation is one that is never attached, and the Gold token is it

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Play Prize of Progress (E4 + 1 Mind Power) and Renata Glasc, Industrialist (E4 + 1 Order Power).
  2. Play World Atlas (E3) and pay its [Equip] of one Mind rune once, attaching it to a body you keep at a battlefield. 718.2 makes its printed text Inactive from now on; 718.3 keeps its [Effect] working on the carrier.
  3. At each Beginning Phase in which you hold that battlefield (315.2.b.2), the Atlas plays two Gold gear tokens. Renata's static overrides their printed 'exhausted', so they arrive ready.
  4. Do NOT cash them yet: 167 empties the Rune Pool at the start of your Main Phase, so Beginning-Phase Power is lost. Leave them on the board.
  5. In your Main Phase, or in any Closed State on either turn (813.1.c.2 admits the Gold's [Reaction]), kill a Gold and exhaust it for one rainbow Power.
  6. That is one use of an activated ability of a gear, so Prize of Progress gets +1 Might this turn. Repeat per Gold.
  7. 465.2.c reads the raised Might at assignment; 317.2.c expires it at the end-of-turn Cleanup and the next Hold restocks the Golds.

How it ends

engine only — two Golds per Hold, each worth one rainbow Power and +1 Might on Prize of Progress at [Reaction] speed; the Might expires every Cleanup (317.2.c) and nothing here scores

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07, issue #170, from `prize-of-progress-gear-activation`. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. The content is 718.2 read with 721.2 and 818.1.a: an ATTACHED Equipment's [Equip] is Inactive and cannot be activated, so an Equipment can never [Equip] itself off its own carrier — which means the repeatable 'activated ability of a gear' this trigger wants must belong to a gear that is never attached. The Gold token is that gear, and its [Reaction] makes the payoff work on the opponent's turn, which no [Equip] can. Trap check: 167 is cited so no Beginning-Phase Power is claimed; the Golds are explicitly stated to be banked rather than cashed on creation; R25 = A is named for the Industrialist override; 317.2.c is cited so the Might is not banked across turns; [Weaponmaster]'s printed 'even if it's already attached' is quoted as the carve-out that confirms rather than contradicts the reading.
