Promising Future in the loop — make the opponent play their deck
Pieces
- Promising Future ×1
OGN-115 · payoff · mind
Each player looks at the top 5 cards of their Main Deck, banishes one of them, then recycles the rest. Starting with the next player, each player plays those cards, ignoring Energy costs. (They must still pay Power costs.)
- Retreat ×1
OGN-104 · engine · mind
[Reaction] (Play any time, even before spells and abilities resolve.) Return a friendly unit to its owner's hand. Its owner channels 1 rune exhausted.
Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains cover Mind and Order.
Prerequisites
- Infinite Energy running and Promising Future recurring through the Forge recycle. Every cast forces the opponent to put one card from their top 5 into play; with the deck-clearing pieces (The Ruination) you then wipe what they were forced to play.
Steps
- Cast Promising Future (5 Energy + 1 Power): both players pick one of their top 5 and play it, ignoring Energy.
- Recycle it with Forge of the Future; redraw it through the loop.
- Repeat until the opponent's deck is on the board, then clear the board.
How it ends
engine at best — the opponent chooses which of their top five to play, and 431.2.b refills their deck from trash before any Burn Out point, so it cannot deck them

Quote: 'create a loop based on the above including Promising Future, which will allow you to force every card in the opponent's deck into play'. Symmetric: you play one too — the article treats that as free because the loop deck's own picks are recycled. Rides the Lux infinite-Energy loop: every piece is replayed from hand through Retreat/Forge recycling, so 'repeat' costs nothing once the engine is up. Source quotes verified by hand through a reader proxy on 2026-09-03 (the page itself blocks fetches). REFUTE 2026-09-03: WOUNDED — as a repeated engine it is net negative: each cast hands the opponent a free permanent or spell of their choice; their deck shrinks by one per cast and Burn Out recycles their trash first. The article's use is as a one-off. BUDGETED 2026-09-04 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-04-loop-budget-ledger.md, issue #21). Per cast: Promising Future 5E + 1P plus 1E + 1 Mind for the extra draw = 6 Energy + 2 Power, about 24 Energy. It CLOSES as a repeatable engine, which is all the entry claims. The printed text carries a limiter the entry never mentioned: OGN-115 says the players 'play those cards, ignoring Energy costs. (THEY MUST STILL PAY POWER COSTS.)', so even the free cards the opponent gets are gated on their Power. With 431.2.b refilling their deck from their trash before any Burn Out point, the entry's own verdict - engine at best, it cannot deck them - stands, and its value in the catalogue is recording why the community's 'force every card into play' claim does not win.
