Deck
- Any legend with Fury among its two domains (103.1.b.3) — 16 names: Daughter of the Void (OGN-247), Relentless Storm (OGN-249), Loose Cannon (OGN-251), Hand of Noxus (OGN-253), Dark Child - Starter (OGS-017), Mechanized Menace (SFD-181), Purifier (SFD-183), Glorious Executioner (SFD-185), Void Burrower (SFD-187), Virtuoso (UNL-181), Pridestalker (UNL-183), Bloodharbor Ripper (UNL-185), Piltover Enforcer (UNL-187), Rogue Assassin (VEN-139), Butcher of the Sands (VEN-141), Master of Shadows (VEN-143).
- 2 Fury Power for the Beam — the discount is Energy only and 356.1.b.2's principle applies: the remaining cost still applies.
Prerequisites
- THE DISCOUNT IS AN ENERGY DISCOUNT AND THE FLOOR IS ZERO, NOT NEGATIVE. 356.6: 'Energy and Power costs can't be reduced below 0.' Thermo Beam at E5 goes to E0; its 2 Fury Power is untouched, because the Firebrand's text says 'costs :rb_energy_5: less'. So the pair is a 4-Might body for 6 Energy + 1 Fury Power, and then a total gear wipe for 2 Fury Power and nothing else.
- 'KILL ALL GEAR' TARGETS NOTHING, WHICH IS THE HALF THAT MAKES IT REMOVAL RATHER THAN A GAMBLE. 355.10.d: an object 'programmatically selected based on its characteristics rather than chosen by the spell or ability's controller' is not a target, with the worked example '"Kill all units at a battlefield" targets a battlefield, but does not target any units.' So [Deflect] never charges (809.1.c and 809.1.d pay only for targeting or choosing), and no 'can't be chosen by enemy spells and abilities' clause protects a gear from it.
- IT IS SYMMETRIC, AND THAT IS THE COST. Every Gold token, every Seal, every Equipment on the table dies, including yours — 434 attachments go with the gear. A deck that plays this wants few gear of its own, which rules out the Equipment packages and the Seal manabase in the same list.
- THE ANTI-SYNERGY IS IN THE SAME DOMAIN AND IS EASY TO BUILD BY ACCIDENT. A discount reduces what you SPEND — 166.2 makes players 'add Energy and Power to their Rune Pool in order to be able to spend it to play cards', 203.1 defines paying as performing that action, and 356.4.b is the discount itself. So `UNL-004 Prepared Neophyte` ('If you've spent :rb_energy_4: or more to play a spell this turn, I have +4 :rb_might:') is switched OFF by the very card that makes the Beam free, and so is `SFD-143 Sivir, Mercenary`'s 'if you've spent at least two rainbow this turn'. The Firebrand and the Neophyte are both Fury, both cheap, and read as though they belong together; they do not.
- 'The next spell you play this turn' is exactly one spell, and the Firebrand's own trigger fires on play, so the sequencing is fixed: body first, spell second, same turn. Three copies (103.2.b) is three such turns.
- 206 does not rescue the Neophyte here and it is worth saying why: 206 governs a 'costs N or more' check, which reads the printed cost; the Neophyte's clause is a 'spent' check, which reads the Rune Pool. Two different tests, and only one of them ignores discounts.
- "KILL ALL GEAR" IS RIOT'S OWN WORKED EXAMPLE FOR THE PLAY-STEPS HALF OF THIS. 355.10.d settles that nothing is TARGETED; 355.5 settles that nothing is CHOSEN while the card is played - "If a card requires you to specifically choose one or more Game Objects, that choice is made now", with 355.5.a excepting "cards that affect one or more Game Objects based on criteria" and giving two examples: '"Stun a unit at a battlefield" is a Choice' and '"Kill all gear" is not a Choice'. Two different consequences from one distinction, so both belong here: no target means no [Deflect] tax (809.1.c charges per choice), and no choice means no "when you choose" payoff fires either.
Steps
- Play Raging Firebrand (6 Energy + 1 Fury Power). Its play trigger makes the next spell you play this turn cost 5 Energy less.
- Play Thermo Beam as that spell: 5 - 5 = 0 Energy (356.6 floors it there), plus its printed 2 Fury Power.
- 'Kill all gear' resolves. 355.10.d makes it target nothing, so [Deflect] and 'can't be chosen' clauses do not apply.
- Every gear on both sides dies, attachments included.
Per iteration
-2 cards, -6 Energy -3 Fury Power, +1 body at 4 Might, all gear on the table destroyed
How it ends
engine — a 4-Might body and a total gear wipe for 6 Energy and 3 Fury Power, three times a game (103.2.b); nothing here scores

AUTHORED 2026-09-07, issue #173. OGN-031 Raging Firebrand and OGN-022 Thermo Beam were both in ZERO entries. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; 103.1.b.3, 103.2.b, 166.2, 203.1, 206, 355.10.d, 356.1.b.2, 356.4.b, 356.6, 434, 809.1.c, 809.1.d opened in the Core Rules file. Both cards legal in both formats; neither is Signature. No unruled reading. The fourth notable is a refusal carried inside the entry rather than filed separately, because the two cards it warns about are the ones a builder reaches for next.
