Combo · ENGINE
Bonus Damage is paid per DEAL ACTION, so a spell that says 'Deal 3. Deal 3.' collects it twice — the Tome's +1 is worth +2
Pieces
- Ravenborn Tome ×1
OGN-032 · engine · fury
Exhaust: The next spell you play this turn deals 1 Bonus Damage. (Each instance of damage the spell deals is increased by 1.)
- Falling Star ×3
OGN-029 · payoff · fury
Deal 3 to a unit. Deal 3 to a unit.
- Annie, Fiery ×1
OGS-001 · engine · fury
Your spells and abilities deal 1 Bonus Damage. (Each instance of damage the spell deals is increased by 1.)
Payoff
Deck
- All three cards are mono-Fury, so 103.1.b.1 is satisfied by any legend with Fury as one of its two domains. None of them is Signature, so 103.2.d.2 imposes nothing.
Prerequisites
- 715.2 IS THE ARITHMETIC, AND ITS WORKED EXAMPLE IS IN THIS DOMAIN: 'If the Deal action has multiple targets, the amount of Damage dealt to each target is increased by Bonus Damage individually and separately.' The example given is Singularity ('Deal 6 to each of up to two units') under Annie, Fiery, dealing 7 to each. So the payoff scales with how many Deal ACTIONS or targets a spell has, never with how big each one is.
- AND FALLING STAR IS THE SHAPE THAT PAYS. 'Deal 3 to a unit. Deal 3 to a unit.' is two instructions, so the Tome's +1 lands on both: 4 and 4 for 2 Energy and 2 Fury Power. That kills two Might-4 bodies where the printed card kills two Might-3 bodies, and 465.2.c reads the survivors' Might at assignment.
- 714 IS WHY A SECOND SOURCE IS ADDITIVE AND NOT MULTIPLICATIVE: 'If more than one instance of Bonus Damage is applied or granted to a Deal action, all instances are summed and applied once.' Tome plus Annie, Fiery is +2 per action — 5 and 5 — and a third source would be +3, never x3.
- THE TOME IS ONE SPELL A TURN AND THAT IS ITS REAL CAP. 'The next spell you play this turn', and its cost is an exhaust, which 415.3.a returns only at your own Awakening. Annie is the static half: it pays on every spell and ability you play, every turn, with no cost at all.
- IT IS DISJOINT FROM EXCESS DAMAGE, WHICH IS WORTH SAYING BECAUSE THE TWO LOOK ALIKE. 713 scopes Bonus Damage to Deal actions and 417.6.c makes combat damage come from the units themselves, so none of this ever feeds `OGN-034 Tryndamere, Barbarian` or the rest of the excess-damage family.
- AND IT NEVER TOUCHES THE CHALLENGE FAMILY EITHER: 417.6.b.3 makes damage a spell instructs UNITS to deal come from those units, not from the spell, so a Bonus Damage source adds nothing to it.
- IT DOES NOT SCORE. Fury converts Might and damage into points only through excess damage, which this is not; what the line buys is removal at two bodies per card.
Steps
- Play Ravenborn Tome (E3). It is gear, so it is usable the turn it lands.
- If Annie, Fiery is also on the board (E5 + 1 Fury Power), her static already gives every spell you play 1 Bonus Damage.
- In your Main Phase, exhaust the Tome. The next spell you play this turn deals 1 more Bonus Damage; 714 sums it with Annie's for +2 per Deal action.
- Play Falling Star (E2 + 2 Fury Power). Its first instruction deals 3 + 2 = 5 to one unit; its second is a separate Deal action with its own choice and deals 3 + 2 = 5 to another.
- 143.2.a kills each body whose Might the damage equals or exceeds, and 143.3.b.1 heals whatever survives at the end of the turn.
- 415.3.a readies the Tome at your next Awakening, so the +1 is available for one spell every turn for the rest of the game.
How it ends
engine only — +1 per Deal action from the Tome on one spell a turn forever, +2 with Annie, Fiery; on Falling Star that is 5 and 5 for E2 + 2 Fury Power, three castings a game (103.2.b). Nothing here scores

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07, issue #170, from the sweep of cards named in the Core Rules and in no entry; OGN-032 Ravenborn Tome and OGN-029 Falling Star were both uncatalogued, and the pool's whole Bonus Damage family is six rows (Ravenborn Tome, Void Gate, Annie Fiery, Rabadon's Deathcrown, Dancing Grenade, Consuming Curse). Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. The content is 715.2 read constructively: the payoff is per Deal ACTION, so the right partner is a spell with two of them rather than a big one, and 714 caps a second source at additive. Trap check: the disjointness from excess damage (713 + 417.6.c) and from the Challenge family (417.6.b.3) is stated so the entry is not mistaken for a Tryndamere feeder; the Tome's one-spell-a-turn wording and its exhaust are named as the cap; 103.2.b bounds Falling Star.
