Combo · ENGINE
One Energy, then Dominus doubles it — Renekton crosses 10, empowers, and takes both battlefields
Pieces
- Renekton, Brute ×1
VEN-092 · engine · body
1 Energy: Give me +1 Might this turn. When my Might becomes 10 or more, empower me. (I become Empowered if I'm not already.) [Empowered][>] I have [Deflect] and [Ganking]. (Opponents must pay 1 Power of any domain to choose me with a spell or ability. I can move from battlefield to battlefield.)
- Dominus ×1
VEN-142 · enabler · fury/body
[Action] (Play on your turn or in showdowns.) This turn, double a unit's Might and give it "2 Power of any domain: Ready me."
Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains are Fury and Body: VEN-141 Butcher of the Sands (Renekton), whose own [Reaction] Add of 2 Energy is spendable 'only to play units or activated abilities of units' - which is exactly what the +1 Might activation is.
Prerequisites
- THE ORDER IS THE WHOLE TRICK AND IT IS NOT REVERSIBLE. Pay the Energy FIRST: 4 -> 5, then Dominus doubles to 10 and 'When my Might becomes 10 or more' fires. Double first and it is 4 -> 8, then +1 is 9, and nothing happens. 710 evaluates units by current Might; 709 is the analogous worked threshold ('becomes Mighty' is the moment Might crosses from below 5 to 5 or more) and shows the reading is the intended one.
- IT IS TWO POINTS, NOT EIGHT, AND THAT IS WHY IT IS NOT A BURST OR A CHAIN. 470 caps Scoring at once per Battlefield per turn and a Duel has two battlefields (485.4), so the ceiling of one turn is two. The issue filed it as 'BURST/CHAIN, clase a decidir'; it reaches neither bar. It is also NOT turn-repeatable: Dominus is a spell and its grant lasts 'this turn', so the line runs once per copy, three times a game.
- LOSING THE FIRST BATTLEFIELD DOES NOT REFUND THE POINT. Ganking off it leaves it empty, and 323.6 strips your Control at the next Cleanup - but 471.1 already gained the point when Control was established (469.1, 466.5.d).
- The second leg needs a battlefield he can actually take: either uncontrolled (Showdown, 348.2.a and 348.2.a.1 give Control and a Conquer) or garrisoned by less than 10 Might. At 10 with [Deflect] he is also hard to answer - opponents must pay a rainbow to choose him.
Steps
- Renekton in base, ready. Activate '1 Energy: Give me +1 Might this turn' once: 4 -> 5.
- Play Dominus (4 Energy, [Action]): his Might doubles to 10, and he gains '2 rainbow: Ready me'.
- 'When my Might becomes 10 or more, empower me' fires: he is [Empowered] and now has [Deflect] and [Ganking].
- Standard Move base -> first battlefield (144.4.a, cost is the exhaust). Win or walk in; Establishing Control is a Conquer (466.5.d, or 348.2.a.1 through a Showdown) and Scores (469.1).
- Pay 2 rainbow Power for the granted 'Ready me' (415.1). It is an Activated Ability with a cost, so 377/378 allow it as often as you can pay.
- [Ganking] Standard Move battlefield -> battlefield (144.4.c.1). Conquer the second one: a second point, because 470 caps per battlefield and this is a different one.
Per iteration
+2 points in one turn for 5 Energy and 2 Power, once per Dominus
How it ends
two points in a single turn; not a loop - three Dominus is six points across three turns

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-issue62-legends-without-entries.md), issue #62 section 2.2. VEN-141 Butcher of the Sands had no entry, and VEN-092 Renekton, Brute appeared in NO entry of the catalogue at all. CLASS DECIDED DOWNWARD, DELIBERATELY: #62 filed this as 'BURST/CHAIN (clase a decidir)'. A BURST has to reach 8 in one scoring event and a CHAIN across several without an opponent turn in between; this reaches two, because 470 caps Scoring at once per battlefield per turn and a Duel has two battlefields. Calling it BURST would have been false in the same way labelling a CHAIN an ENGINE was false in #20. What the entry does claim is exact and checked against its own quantities: 4 +1 = 5, doubled = 10, which is the threshold to the digit. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Trap check: no [Repeat]; no [Temporary]; no token; no recall; the Energy is Main Phase so 167 never bites; the enemy battlefield is not entered empty for an attack trigger, because nothing here needs one - it needs a Conquer, which 466.5.d and 348.2.a.1 both give. Depends on no unruled reading.
