Deck
- Eye of Twilight IS the legend (VEN-147 or VEN-193, Calm/Order), so this is a one-legend line by construction. Royal Entourage and Zephyr Sage are both mono-Calm, so 103.1.b.3 is satisfied and the Order half of the identity is free for the rest of the deck.
Prerequisites
- THIS CORRECTS A CLAIM MADE IN THIS CATALOGUE. `eye-of-twilight-zephyr-sage-tank-redirect` states 'ONE GRANT PER TURN AND NO WAY TO DOUBLE IT... the cost is the legend's own exhaust, which 315.1.b returns only at your next Awakening'. The cost half is right and the conclusion is not: SFD-039 Royal Entourage, SFD-210 Hall of Legends and OGN-162 Miss Fortune, Captain all ready a legend, so the exhaust comes back inside the turn.
- AND THE CORRECTION ONLY REACHES YOUR OWN TURN, WHICH IS THE REAL FINDING. Royal Entourage is a unit with no [Action] and no [Reaction], so 155 and 381 keep it to your Main Phase in an Open State. On the OPPONENT's turn you can therefore never play it, and the legend was readied by 415.3.a at your Awakening anyway — so on defence the grant is still once, exactly as the older entry says. The doubling exists only where both grants can be spent on the same turn: your own attack.
- ORDER MATTERS AND 415.1.c IS WHY. 'If a Unit is instructed to be Readied while it is already Ready, nothing additional happens.' So the legend must be EXHAUSTED for the first grant BEFORE Royal Entourage is played; playing the Entourage first wastes it. (Its 'ready or exhaust' is a choice, so exhausting the legend yourself is legal but pointless here.)
- WHAT TWO TANKS BUY, IN DAMAGE. 815.1.c.2: 'If more than one unit with Tank is present with the same controller in Combat, damage may be assigned to any of them. Units without Tank are invalid assignments until all units with Tank have lethal damage assigned to them.' With both Sages granted, the defender must find 6 + 6 = 12 summed Might before any other attacker of yours can legally be assigned a point, and 465.2.c.4 forbids overpaying either one.
- 815.2 IS WHY IT IS TWO BODIES AND NOT ONE. 'Multiple instances of Tank are redundant.' A second grant on the same Sage is worth zero, so the second Royal Entourage activation has to find a second body.
- THE CEILING IS THE DECK. 103.2.b caps Royal Entourage at three copies, each consumed on play, so this is three doubled turns a game and not an engine that runs forever.
- IT DOES NOT SCORE. The line buys survival for the rest of an attacking pack; converting that into points is the job of whatever else the pack is carrying.
Steps
- Deck-build under an Eye of Twilight legend (VEN-147 or VEN-193) and put both Zephyr Sages into the pack you intend to attack with.
- In your Main Phase, before the attack, activate the legend: exhaust it and give the first Zephyr Sage [Tank] this turn. 381 allows the activation (your turn, Open State) and 806.1.b would also allow it later inside the combat.
- Play Royal Entourage and choose 'ready a legend'. 107.4.c makes the legend a Game Object and 415.1 marks it ready again; 415.1.c is why this had to come after the first activation.
- Activate the legend a second time and give the second Zephyr Sage [Tank] this turn.
- Move the pack in. 190.3.a.1 applies Contested, 323.9 stages the Combat, 464.2.c.3 designates your attackers and 464.2.e.1 designates the defenders.
- In the damage step, 465.2.c has the defender assign damage equal to their summed Might, and 815.1.c.1 plus 815.1.c.2 force lethal onto both Sages — 6 and then 6 — before any other attacker of yours is a legal assignment.
- 143.3.b.2 heals the marked damage at the Combat Cleanup and 317.2.c expires 'this turn'; 315.1.b readies the legend at your next Awakening, so the single grant is available again next turn and the doubled one costs another Royal Entourage.
How it ends
engine only — twelve summed Might of the defender's assignment absorbed on one attacking turn, three times a game (103.2.b); on defence it stays at one grant, and nothing here scores

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07, issue #170, from the synergy rule `royal-entourage-readies-your-legend`, whose anchor SFD-039 was in ZERO entries. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Two things are the content: the correction of `eye-of-twilight-zephyr-sage-tank-redirect`'s 'no way to double it', and the reason the correction is only half a correction — Royal Entourage has no [Action] and no [Reaction], so it never reaches the opponent's turn, where that entry's line actually lives. Trap check: 415.1.c is cited so the play order is forced rather than assumed; 815.2 is cited so the second grant is put on a second body; the Shield is explicitly NOT counted, because 814.1.c gives it only to a defender and here the Sages attack; 103.2.b caps the copies; produces is empty (issue #157).
