Combo · ENGINE
Two Rumbles are two statics on the same tokens — but 185 and 186.1 mean a Mech TOKEN can never be the fuel the second one recycles
Pieces
- Rumble, Scrapper ×1
SFD-089 · engine · mind
Your Mechs have +1 Might (including me). When I hold, play a 3 Might Mech unit token to your base.
- Rumble, Hotheaded ×1
SFD-026 · engine · fury
Your Mechs each have [Assault]. (+1 Might while we're attackers.) When I conquer, you may recycle another friendly unit to play a Mech from your trash. Reduce its Energy cost by the Might of the unit you recycled.
Payoff
Deck
- Rumble, Scrapper is mono-Mind and Rumble, Hotheaded mono-Fury, so 103.1.b.1 needs a Fury/Mind legend, and the census gives three names: OGN-247 Daughter of the Void, SFD-181 / SFD-240 Mechanized Menace, UNL-181 / UNL-226 Virtuoso. Neither card is Signature, so 103.2.d.2 imposes nothing on top of that.
Prerequisites
- 187.4 IS WHY THE TOKENS GET BOTH STATICS FOR FREE: 'A 3 [M] Mech token is a domainless unit token with 3 Might and the Mech tag.' The tag comes by rule, so 'Your Mechs have +1 Might' and 'Your Mechs each have [Assault]' both reach a token with no extra text, via 383.2.c.1 (an ability active in a zone applies to an object entering it at the same time).
- THE ATTACKING NUMBER, EXACTLY: a Mech token is 3 printed, +1 from the Scrapper (a continuous modifier, not a 702 Buff — 702.3's one-per-unit cap never touches it and it stacks with a real Buff counter), and +1 more from [Assault] while it is an attacker (807.1.b's Assault Value, and 807.2 would sum a second granted instance). Five attacking Might per free token.
- A MECH TOKEN CAN NEVER BE THE RECURSION'S FUEL, AND THIS IS THE PAIRING'S OWN TRAP. Hotheaded says 'recycle another friendly unit'; 185 says 'Tokens are not cards' and 416.1 defines Recycling over cards only, so the cost cannot be paid with a token at all (416.3 requires a cost Recycle to be completable). 186.1 closes the other door: a token ceases to exist on entering any Non-Board Zone, so no dead Mech token is ever in the trash for 'play a Mech from your trash' to find either. Both halves need real CARDS.
- THE DISCOUNT IS READ AFTER THE STATIC. 'Reduce its Energy cost by the Might of the unit you recycled' — the Scrapper's +1 is a continuous modifier applied at 477.3.e.1, so a Mech card you recycle is worth its printed Might plus one, and any friendly unit qualifies as fuel, not only Mechs.
- THE TWO TRIGGERS FIRE IN DIFFERENT PHASES, WHICH IS WHY THEY DO NOT COMPETE. The Scrapper's is a Hold (315.2.b.2, Beginning Phase) and Hotheaded's is a Conquer (a Main Phase event), so a turn that both holds one battlefield and conquers another gets both — and 470 with 485.4 caps the Conquers at two.
- THE FREE TOKEN IS BORN AT YOUR BASE AND EXHAUSTED (143.4, and the ability says 'to your base'), so it walks in on the FOLLOWING turn; 144.3 moves the accumulated pack as one game action to a shared destination, so the delay is one turn once and not one per body.
- AND A HOLD-MADE TOKEN IS NOT A HOLD-MADE READY. 315.1 Awaken has finished before 315.2.b.2 fires, so nothing about the Scrapper's trigger readies anything; the token is simply a body for next turn.
- IT DOES NOT SCORE. Five attacking Might per token is a combat, not a point; the Conquer that Hotheaded needs has to come from somewhere, and this line supplies the bodies for it rather than the points.
Steps
- Deck-build under OGN-247 Daughter of the Void (Fury/Mind) and land both Rumbles; each is a static that reads every Mech you control, tokens included.
- At each Beginning Phase in which you hold a battlefield, Rumble, Scrapper plays a free 3 Might Mech token to your base (187.4 gives it the Mech tag by rule, so both statics are already on it).
- On a following turn, 315.1.b readies the accumulated tokens and 144.3 walks them in together to one destination.
- In combat each of them is 3 + 1 (Scrapper) + 1 ([Assault] while attacking) = 5 Might in 465.2.c's sum.
- When you conquer, Rumble, Hotheaded offers its recursion. Recycle a real CARD — never a token (185, 416.1, 416.3) — and play a Mech from your trash with its Energy cost reduced by that card's current Might, the Scrapper's +1 included.
- The recycled card goes to the bottom of the Main Deck (416.1), so the fuel is card selection as well as a discount.
How it ends
engine only — one free 3 Might Mech token per Hold, each worth 5 attacking Might under both statics, plus one discounted Mech recursion per Conquer (capped at two a turn by 470 and 485.4); nothing here scores

REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07, issue #170, from `rumble-scrapper-mech` and `rumble-hotheaded-mech`, which had never been walked together. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. The content is the trap the pairing invites: the Scrapper mints Mech TOKENS and Hotheaded's recursion is written over CARDS, so the obvious 'feed the tokens to the recursion' line is refuted twice over by 185 (tokens are not cards, so 416.1 cannot recycle one) and 186.1 (a token never remains in the trash). Trap check: the +1 is stated as a continuous modifier and explicitly not a 702 Buff; the token's tag is sourced to 187.4 rather than assumed; the two triggers are separated by phase so neither is claimed twice; the base-born token's one-turn delay is priced by 143.4 and 144.3; the Fury/Mind census is named as a single legend.
