Sandswept Tomb is switched on from turn one and takes a Power off all twenty-four spells that choose a friendly unit
Pieces
- Sandswept Tomb ×1
VEN-164 · battlefield
Each spell that chooses one or more units here that are friendly to it costs 1 Power of any domain less.
- Public Execution ×3
VEN-154 · payoff · body/order
Choose a friendly unit. Kill an enemy unit with less Might than it. [Flow] 5 Energy + 2 Power of any domain (You may play this from your trash for its Flow cost. Then banish it.)
Payoff
Deck
- PUBLIC EXECUTION IS A SIGNATURE CARD TAGGED AMBESSA, so this is a ONE-LEGEND line and not a domain line: 103.2.d.2 makes every Signature card carry the legend's champion tag, and the only legend in the pool carrying Ambessa is VEN-153 / VEN-196 Matriarch of War (Body/Order). A Body/Order domain check would have admitted Grand Duelist, Keeper of the Hammer, The Boss and Might of Demacia; every one of them is illegal here. 103.2.d.1 also spends one of the three Signature slots on it.
Prerequisites
- THE DISCOUNTED SET IS TWENTY-FOUR SPELLS, MEASURED. Filtering data/corpus_flat.txt to spells with a Power component whose text chooses a single friendly unit returns OGN-069, OGN-102, OGN-108, OGN-128, OGN-173, OGN-250, OGN-260, OGN-262, OGN-270, OGS-008, SFD-045, SFD-107, SFD-184, SFD-200, SFD-206, UNL-106, UNL-128, UNL-142, UNL-184, UNL-192, UNL-202, VEN-052, VEN-140, VEN-154. The Tomb is a flat 1 Power off every one of them, unbounded in uses — one named payoff is what an entry can price, but the class is what the battlefield is worth.
- A MASS PUMP GETS NOTHING, AND THAT IS 355.10.d, NOT AN OVERSIGHT. 'Give friendly units +5 :rb_might:' (OGN-233 Grand Strategem) and 'Give friendly units +2 :rb_might:' (OGS-024 Decisive Strike) select programmatically and therefore choose nothing, so the Tomb never discounts them. Check the verb before counting a spell into the set.
- THE CHOSEN UNIT HAS TO BE STANDING AT THE TOMB when the cost is determined — 'one or more units here that are friendly to it'. That makes the discount a reason to garrison this battlefield rather than the other one, and it is the whole cost of the line.
- IT PAYS THE OPPONENT TOO. 'Friendly to it' is friendly to the spell, so their spells choosing their own units at the Tomb are equally cheap. In practice that only bites while both sides have bodies there, i.e. during a contest — which is also when your removal matters most.
- POWER IS THE SCARCE CURRENCY, WHICH IS WHY A FLAT ONE MATTERS. 356.6 floors the cost at 0, and 135.2.e.5.b makes a rainbow spendable on any domain, so the discount is worth a whole domain rune on a two-domain spell. Public Execution goes from E2 + 1 Power to E2 flat.
- SANDSWEPT TOMB IS NOT GUARANTEED TO BE ON THE TABLE: 485.4.a puts one of your three into a Duel, 485.5 picks it at random, 486.5 lets you choose in 1v1 Match play, and 103.4.c forbids a second copy of the name.
- 103.2.d.1 CAPS THE LIST AT THREE SIGNATURE CARDS and three copies of Public Execution spend all three slots. Two copies leave one slot for another Ambessa Signature card; the entry prices three because 829.1.b's Flow replay is what makes the third copy worth the slot.
Bodies no card supplies
Garrison it with the body you intend to choose — for Public Execution, the biggest Might you own, since the kill is capped by 'an enemy unit with less Might than it'
Steps
- Bring Sandswept Tomb as one of your three battlefields. It needs no Control and no set-up: there is no 'you' in its text for 190.6.d to blank.
- Garrison it with the body you intend to choose — for Public Execution, the biggest Might you own, since the kill is capped by 'an enemy unit with less Might than it'.
- Play Public Execution choosing that body. The Tomb's discount is a component discount applied while the cost is determined (356.4), taking the 1 Power to nothing; 356.6 floors it at 0.
- Kill any enemy unit with less Might than the chosen one. Repeat with the other two copies, and again from the trash: 829.1.b lets each copy be played once more for its Flow cost — also a Power cheaper — and then banishes it, so three copies are six castings in a game.
Per iteration
1 rainbow Power saved on every spell that chooses a friendly unit standing at the Tomb — with Public Execution, a kill for E2 and no Power
How it ends
engine only — an unbounded discount that never scores; the named payoff is bounded at six castings by 103.2.b plus 829.1.b's one Flow replay per copy

REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07, issue #171. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; the twenty-four-spell set was filtered out of the corpus rather than recalled. This is the second battlefield in the catalogue whose text survives 190.6.d because it never says 'you' (UNL-214 Ripper's Bay was the first, #161) — the check is on the WORD, not on the sentiment, and it is worth running on every battlefield before assuming it needs Control. THE FIRST DRAFT OF THIS ENTRY NAMED FIVE BODY/ORDER LEGENDS AND FOUR OF THEM WERE ILLEGAL — test/legend-lines.test.ts caught it before the entry was staged, which is exactly the #167 failure class: a Signature card in uses[] makes prerequisites.easy a one-legend field. Trap check: 355.10.d is cited so a mass pump is not counted into the discounted set; no attack, no token, no [Temporary]; 829.1.b bounds the Flow half at one replay per copy (108.6.c: nothing returns from Banishment); exactly one battlefield is named, so 485.4.a is respected.
