Sett, Kingpin reads the buffed army the recycle loop mints — unbounded Might on a [Tank], and not one point
Pieces
- Sett, Kingpin ×1
OGN-240 · payoff · order
[Tank] (I must be assigned combat damage first.) I get +1 Might for each buffed friendly unit at my battlefield.
- Karma, Channeler ×1
OGN-235 · enabler · order
[Vision] (When you play me, look at the top card of your Main Deck. You may recycle it.) When you recycle one or more cards to your Main Deck, buff a friendly unit. (If it doesn't have a buff, it gets a +1 Might buff. Runes aren't cards.)
Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains cover Mind and Order — the four legends lux-infinite-energy already forces (OGN-265 Herald of the Arcane, OGS-021 Lady of Luminosity - Starter, SFD-201 Chem-Baroness, UNL-199 Deceiver). Sett, Kingpin and Karma, Channeler are both mono-Order, so 103.1.b.3 admits them without touching the deck's Domain Identity.
- Sett has to be standing at a battlefield you control before the army walks. He is E4 + 1 Order Power with no [Accelerate], so 143.4 lands him exhausted and he walks the turn after he is played.
- No battlefield of its own, so 485.4.a / 485.5's random draw never enters the price.
Prerequisites
- 144.4.a.1 IS THE ONLY RESTRICTION ON THE WALK, AND IN A DUEL IT CANNOT BIND. 'Units cannot Move to a Battlefield that already has units from 2 other players present, or where a Combat is ongoing that has 2 other players as participants.' The count is of OTHER PLAYERS, not of units, and 485.1 puts exactly 2 players in a Duel — so the clause is unsatisfiable there. 447.2.a, the cross-reference 144.4.a.1 itself points at, opens with 'In Modes of Play with more than two players'. Nothing in the rules caps how many of your own bodies stand at one battlefield.
- THE WHOLE ARMY ARRIVES IN ONE GAME ACTION. 144.3: 'Players may perform multiple Units' standard move simultaneously. This is treated as one game action performed on multiple Units.' 144.3.a requires one shared destination (Sett's battlefield), 144.3.b lets the origins differ, and 144.3.c pays every exhaust cost simultaneously. It costs 0 Energy and 0 Power: 144.2 / 420.3.a make exhausting the movers the entire cost.
- TOKENS COUNT, AND THEY KEEP THEIR BUFF ACROSS THE WALK. 185.2.d's own worked example says 'A token unit is a unit. It enters exhausted, can take the standard move action, deals damage equal to its Might in combat', and 185.2.b gives token units a Might. 705 strips a buff only when a unit LEAVES PLAY, and a move is not that.
- TWO ROUTES, AND ONLY THE SECOND ONE DENIES THE OPPONENT A TURN. Route A (two turns): 143.4 makes every Recruit enter exhausted and 144.2 / 420.3.a make exhausting the mover the cost of its own move, so a Recruit minted on turn T cannot walk on turn T; 415.3.a readies the whole board at the next Awakening Phase and the army walks on T+1. Route B (one turn): SFD-171 Renata Glasc, Industrialist ('Your tokens enter ready.') is mono-Order, E4 + 1 Order Power, legal here by 103.1.b.3 — a ready Recruit pays 144.2 immediately and the army walks the turn it is minted. Same card, same reason, as ready-recruits-grand-plaza.
- ON ROUTE A THE ARMY HAS TO SURVIVE A WHOLE ENEMY TURN AT YOUR BASE. 312.2.a gives a player priority only 'When the turn is in a Neutral Open State during their Main Phase', so nobody interacts DURING the loop — but the opponent's entire turn sits between T and T+1. Three cards in the pool end it: SFD-158 Sandshifter ('When you play me, kill an enemy unit with 3 [M] or less' — a buffed Recruit is 2 Might by 703, and the card carries no 'at a battlefield' clause, so it reaches the base), OGN-229 Vengeance ('Kill a unit', no Might bound at all) and UNL-180 The Ruination ('Kill all units'), which erases the army and, by 705, every buff on it.
- THE ARITHMETIC WITH THE QUANTITIES DECLARED. Run the loop for P passes and cash the trailing buff with the extra Forge activation karma-lux-recycle-buff-army already declares: P Recruits, all buffed, all 2 Might (703). Walk all P to Sett's battlefield. Buffed friendlies there = P. Sett = 5 + P. The garrison's summed Might, which is what 465.2.c gives you to assign in a combat, = 2P + (5 + P) = 3P + 5. P is unbounded because lux-infinite-energy is a verified INFINITE, so 5 + P is unbounded.
- IT IS A WALL AGAINST COMBAT AND NOT AGAINST REMOVAL. 815.1.b: '[Tank] is functionally short for I must be assigned lethal damage before any other unit with the same controller as me that does not have [Tank] during the Combat Damage step', and 815.1.c.2 keeps every non-Tank body an invalid assignment until Sett has lethal on him. 465.2.c gives the attacker only their summed Might to spend, so at 5 + P nothing can clear him and the battlefield keeps Holding under 469.2. OGN-229 Vengeance still kills him for 4 Energy + 2 Power, because it reads no Might.
- IT NEVER SCORES, AND THAT IS A MEASUREMENT, NOT A GUESS. 194.1 lists the four ways to gain points — Holding (194.1.a), Conquering (194.1.b), an instruction to gain points (194.1.c), an opponent's Burn Out (194.1.d) — and none reads Might. The full grep of 'excess' over the pool returns six cards and exactly one pays a point: OGN-034 Tryndamere, Barbarian, which is Fury and excluded by 103.1.b.1. SFD-120 Sivir, Ambitious is Body; UNL-018 Yeti Brawler is Fury; UNL-187 Piltover Enforcer and UNL-188 Hextech Gauntlets are Fury/Order and excluded by 103.1.b.4, which admits a card only into an identity containing ALL of its domains; the one colorless option, UNL-217 Trapping Grounds, pays a Bird token. This reconfirms the boundary issue #97 measured rather than opening a new one.
- IT IS AN UNBOUNDED ENGINE, NOT AN INFINITE. The unbounded thing is the ARMY, and that is already the token-body-engine lux-infinite-energy produces and the catalogue has priced. Sett is a one-time readout of that stock with no repeat step of his own — the same shape as azir-sovereign-token-gather, which is ENGINE for the same reason.
- THE SAME SHELL ALREADY HOLDS A STRICTLY WINNING PAYOFF, AND THE ENTRY SAYS SO. ready-recruits-grand-plaza (ALT_WIN, needs token-body-engine) walks seven ready Recruits onto OGN-293 The Grand Plaza and wins outright. Sett is worth running anyway because 485.4 / 485.5 make the Plaza one of three battlefields RANDOMLY SELECTED at setup ('Each player randomly selects one (1) of their three (3) Battlefields'), while Sett is a card you draw.
- OGN-223 PEAK GUARDIAN IS A LEGAL ALTERNATIVE BUFF SOURCE, AND ISSUE #111 REFUTED IT WRONGLY. The issue read 355.2.a as playing him to the base by default; 355.2.a says the opposite — 'By default, Valid locations include the controller's Base or a Battlefield the controller controls.' [Ambush] was never what the card needed: 822.1.b grants 'I may be played to a battlefield where you control Units', which is a battlefield you have bodies at but do NOT control. So Peak Guardian (mono-Order, E6 + 1 Order Power) played to a battlefield you control does buff every other friendly unit there. Against Karma he is marginal, because 702.3.a refuses a second buff on an already-buffed body; for an Order token faucet WITHOUT Karma he is the whole buff economy in one card.
- ONE ORDER PAYOFF THE ARMY SWITCHES OFF. VEN-138 Shen, Leader of the Kinkou Order reads 'When I hold, if there is exactly one other unit you control here, you score 1 point.' The garrison this entry builds makes that condition false. Do not staple them together.
Steps
- Before the loop: get Sett, Kingpin (4 Energy + 1 Order Power) onto a battlefield you control. 143.4 lands him exhausted, so he walks there the following turn, or arrives on a Conquer you were making anyway. Karma, Channeler is on the board already, per karma-lux-recycle-buff-army.
- Run lux-infinite-energy for P passes. Each pass mints one 1 Might Recruit at your base (Forge of the Future's play trigger) and Karma buffs the previous pass's Recruit to 2 Might (703). Activate the Forge once more at the end to cash the trailing buff onto the last one: P Recruits, all buffed.
- Move the army. With SFD-171 Renata Glasc, Industrialist on the board the Recruits entered ready and walk the same turn; without it, 415.3.a readies them at the next Awakening Phase and they walk on the following turn's Main Phase (144.1.a).
- Declare all P moves as ONE action (144.3) with Sett's battlefield as the shared destination (144.3.a). The cost is exhausting the movers (144.2 / 420.3.a) — no Energy, no Power. 144.4.a.1 does not bind: it counts other PLAYERS, and a Duel has one.
- Sett now reads P buffed friendly units at his battlefield and stands at 5 + P Might, with the garrison summing 3P + 5 for 465.2.c. 815.1.b forces every point of enemy combat damage onto him first, so the Recruits are untouchable in combat and the battlefield Holds under 469.2 every Beginning Phase.
- Stop. Nothing here converts Might into a point: take the Holds, or bring the Grand Plaza line instead when the random battlefield draw (485.5) gives it to you.
Per iteration
no iteration of its own — a one-time readout of the loop's stock. P passes of lux-infinite-energy give P buffed 2 Might Recruits; walking them costs 0 Energy and 0 Power and puts Sett at 5 + P Might with a garrison summing 3P + 5.
How it ends
engine only — an unbounded-Might [Tank] that no board can clear in combat (815.1.b, 465.2.c), so the battlefield keeps Holding under 469.2. It never scores by itself: 194.1's four point routes read no Might, and the only card that pays a point for excess damage (OGN-034, Fury) is outside a Mind/Order identity.

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-issue111-order-buff-economy.md), the single candidate of issue #111. The candidate's mechanism and its non-scoring verdict both survive; the walk ADDS TWO THINGS THE HUNT DID NOT HAVE. First, 144.3: the army arrives in ONE game action with one shared destination, not one unit at a time — and 144.4.a.1 counts OTHER PLAYERS, so in a Duel (485.1: 2 players) it cannot bind at all, which 447.2.a confirms by opening with 'In Modes of Play with more than two players'. Second, the two-turn delay the issue treats as structural is optional: SFD-171 Renata Glasc, Industrialist is mono-Order and legal here by 103.1.b.3, and a token that enters ready pays 144.2's exhaust cost the turn it is minted. The class is ENGINE and deliberately not INFINITE: the unbounded stock is the token-body-engine lux-infinite-energy already produces, and Sett is a readout of it, the shape azir-sovereign-token-gather already carries. Sett's self-count ('for each buffed friendly unit', with no 'other', against OGN-151 / OGN-223 / OGN-139 which all say 'other') is left unresolved ON PURPOSE: the declared line never buffs him, so no numbered reading was filed.
