Shard of Undoing under Deceiver — a Temporary Reflection every turn is a forced enemy kill every turn
Pieces
- Shard of Undoing ×1
UNL-174 · payoff · order
The first time a friendly unit dies during your Beginning Phase each turn, each opponent must kill one of their units.
- Deceiver ×1
UNL-199 · legend · mind/order
When you conquer or hold, you may discard 1 and exhaust me to play a ready Reflection unit token there. Then do this: It becomes a copy of another unit there. Give it [Temporary].
Payoff
Deck
- The legend IS Deceiver (UNL-199, Mind/Order), so the Order Shard is in identity by 103.1.b.3. Neither card is banned or restricted in either format.
- You hold or conquer a battlefield each turn. A Hold is automatic in the Scoring Step at every battlefield you control (315.2.b.2), and holding is what you are trying to do anyway.
Prerequisites
- THE REFLECTION IS BORN AFTER THE WINDOW AND DIES IN THE NEXT ONE. Deceiver's trigger fires on a hold (Scoring Step, 315.2.b.2) or a conquer (Main Phase) — both strictly after the Beginning Phase started, so 383.2.c.1 spares the Reflection its own [Temporary] that turn. At the start of your next Beginning Phase 816.1.b kills it in the Beginning Step (315.2.a.1), which is BEFORE the Scoring Step where the next Reflection is made. One friendly unit death in your Beginning Phase, every turn, indefinitely.
- ONCE PER TURN ON BOTH SIDES, WHICH IS WHY THEY FIT. Deceiver exhausts to make the Reflection and only readies in Awaken (315.1.b), so at most one Reflection per turn; 383.3.e.1 caps the Shard at one performance per turn. Neither half wastes the other. Adding a second Shard or a second death source buys nothing.
- THIS ENTRY AND leblanc-zilean-reflection-doubling CANNOT SHARE A BATTLEFIELD. That entry spends UNL-090 LeBlanc, Everywhere at Once ('Your [Temporary] effects at my battlefield don't trigger', R10 = A) precisely to keep its Reflections alive, and its own step 2 states that unprotected Reflections 'die at your Beginning Phase (816.1.b)'. This entry wants that death. Run both and the protected battlefield produces clones but no fuel; the fuel has to come from a Reflection made somewhere LeBlanc is not.
- THE PRICE IS YOUR DRAW STEP. The discard is a cost inside Deceiver's trigger and you draw exactly 1 per turn (315.4.b), so the engine runs at parity with your draw and nothing else. That is the real constraint, not Energy — the Shard is a one-time 6 Energy and the trigger costs none.
- FORCED, NOT AIMED, AND [Deflect]-PROOF. Same two paragraphs as the Fountain entry: 355.10.e ('Each player kills a unit they control' does not target) and 355.10.f (an instruction a player 'must' complete). The opponent picks their own worst unit — a token counts (185.2.d) — and 809.1.c/809.1.d never charge, because nothing here targets or chooses an enemy body.
- THE COPY CLAUSE IS OPTIONAL FUEL, NOT A REQUIREMENT. If there is no other unit at that battlefield, 055 ignores 'It becomes a copy of another unit there' and the token stays a 0 Might Reflection — still a unit, still [Temporary], still a death next Beginning Phase. In practice a hold means you control the battlefield and have a body there, so the copy usually lands.
- WHERE THE TOKEN'S [Temporary] COMES FROM, ADDED BESIDE 816.1 RATHER THAN INSTEAD OF IT (#204, from #187 batch 18). This entry sources the keyword to the 816.1 block, which is correct and says what [Temporary] DOES. What it does not say is that the effect which created the token may attach it; that is 184.2's sibling, 184.3 - 'The effect may grant temporary abilities or modifications to the token' - cited by nothing in 766 entries. It matters here because the grant is the PAYOFF rather than a drawback, so the paragraph licensing it is load-bearing. 816.1 stays exactly where it is.
Bodies no card supplies
Every turn you hold or conquer: discard 1 and exhaust Deceiver to play a ready Reflection token there, with [Temporary] appended
Steps
- Land Shard of Undoing once, 6 Energy, no Power (355.2.a puts it at your base).
- Every turn you hold or conquer: discard 1 and exhaust Deceiver to play a ready Reflection token there, with [Temporary] appended. It survives this turn — 383.2.c.1, the condition of 816.1.c already passed.
- Next turn's Beginning Step (315.2.a.1): the Reflection's [Temporary] kills it (816.1.b). A friendly unit has died during your Beginning Phase, so the Shard triggers and each opponent must kill one of their units, of their own choosing.
- The Scoring Step follows in the same Beginning Phase (315.2.b.2): you hold, Deceiver readied in Awaken (315.1.b), and you make the next Reflection. The cycle costs one card per turn and nothing else.
Per iteration
one enemy unit killed per turn of yours, chosen by them, for one discarded card and the legend's exhaust. No Energy, no Power, no board commitment beyond the 6-Energy gear.
How it ends
engine only — one forced enemy kill in every one of your Beginning Phases, for as long as you hold or conquer and have a card to discard. Unbounded in turns, capped at one per turn by 383.3.e.1. Nothing here scores; the points come from the holds that fuel it.

FOUND BY THE #107 WALK, not by the issue (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-gear-without-equipment-lens.md). The issue's candidate pairs the Shard with Sprite Fountain, which is a TWO-TURN supply of Beginning-Phase deaths per copy; the Shard wants one such death per turn forever, and UNL-199 Deceiver — one of the four Mind/Order legends the candidate already had to choose from — supplies exactly that for a discard. No new reading is needed: leblanc-zilean-reflection-doubling already states in its own step 2 that an unprotected Reflection dies at your Beginning Phase (816.1.b), and spends UNL-090 LeBlanc, Everywhere at Once (R10 = A) to stop it. This entry is the inversion of that one and the two cannot share a battlefield, which is written into notable. The timing turns on the Beginning Phase's two substeps: 816.1.b kills in the Beginning Step (315.2.a.1) and Deceiver's hold trigger fires in the Scoring Step (315.2.b.2) that follows, so the replacement is always made after the window that would have killed it (383.2.c.1). Cheaper than the Fountain line (6 Energy once, no Power) and unbounded in turns; the cost is one card per turn against a 1-card draw step (315.4.b). Depends on no unruled reading.
