A one-shot card buys a permanent keyword: Shurelya lends the ready and the [Ganking], and the two Conquers pay the XP that turns Gustwalker's own on for good
Pieces
- Shurelya's Requiem ×1
SFD-192 · engine · calm/mind
[Unique] (Your deck can have only 1 card with this name.) [Equip] 1 Power of any domain (1 Power of any domain: Attach this to a unit you control.) When you play this, ready your units.
Your units here have [Ganking]. (We can move from battlefield to battlefield.)
- Gustwalker ×3
UNL-075 · payoff · mind
[Hunt 2] (When I conquer or hold, gain 2 XP.) [Level 3][>] I have +1 Might and [Ganking]. (While you have 3+ XP, get the effect. A [Ganking] unit can move from battlefield to battlefield.)
Payoff
Deck
- SFD-192 Shurelya's Requiem is a Signature card tagged Ornn, so 103.2.d.2 makes the legend line a one-name field: SFD-189 / SFD-244 Fire Below the Mountain (Calm/Mind) are the only legends in cards.json carrying the Ornn champion tag. Gustwalker is mono-Mind, so 103.1.b.3 admits him.
- Two battlefields you can take in one turn — one open when Gustwalker walks in, and a second reachable from the first. 470 allows one Score per battlefield per turn and 485.4 puts two on a Duel table.
Prerequisites
- THE POINT OF THE ENTRY IS WHAT THE ONE-SHOT BUYS. 825.3.a — 'A deck can contain only one card of a given name if the card has Unique' — and 818.1 makes [Equip] an Activated Ability rather than a play, so 'When you play this, ready your units' fires exactly once in a game. Every other Requiem line therefore prices it as a single explosive turn. Gustwalker inverts that: [Hunt 2] pays 2 XP per Conquer (823.1.c.1: 'When I Conquer or Hold, my controller gains X XP'), the double-Conquer turn pays FOUR, and his own [Level 3] — '+1 Might and [Ganking]' — is live from 3 XP onward. The card that was borrowed for one turn is replaced by his own text for the rest of the game.
- THE XP IS NOT A RATCHET, SO THE BOOTSTRAP IS CONDITIONAL ON NOT SPENDING. 824.1.d: 'The Dependent Ability will be Inactive as soon as the controlling player has less than [N] XP', and 730.2 defines spending as reducing your own marked XP. A single XP sink drops him back under 3 and takes the keyword away. This deck banks XP and never spends it — which is also why no [Level] cost and no Spend-N-XP card belongs beside it.
- 'HERE' IS THE CARRIER'S BATTLEFIELD, WHICH FIXES THE ORDER. 434.1.c appends an Equipment's [Effect] text to the Top-Most Card, so 'Your units here have [Ganking]' is read at whatever location the carrier stands. Attach the Requiem to Gustwalker AFTER he has taken the first battlefield and the grant covers him where he is; attach it at your base and it grants nothing that matters. 359.3.f.2 reads 'here' at execution.
- THE ARITHMETIC, WITH THE QUANTITIES DECLARED. Gustwalker M3 walks base to battlefield A (144.4.a; his own exhaust is the cost, 144.2 / 420.3.a); the Cleanup stages a Showdown and no Combat if A is open (323.8, 323.9), 348.2.a / 348.2.a.1 Conquer it: 1 point and 2 XP. Play the Requiem for 4 Energy and 2 Power — 'ready your units' readies him (415.1) — then [Equip] it to him for one rainbow (818.1.b); 434.1.d puts its +2 Might Bonus on him, so he is M5. He now has [Ganking] and moves A to B (144.4.c.1): a second Conquer, a second point, 2 more XP. Total for the turn: 2 points, 4 XP, and Level 3 switched on permanently. Total spend: 4 Energy, 2 Power and one rainbow.
- [Ganking] IS A DESTINATION, NOT A MOVE — WHICH IS WHY THE READY IS THE HALF THAT MATTERS. 810.1.c.3: 'It does not give additional abilities or activations of Movement, only new options for the Standard Move.' 144.4.c.1 is that option, battlefield to battlefield. Without the ready the second move never happens, because 144.2 already spent his exhaust on the first.
- WHAT ELSE IS IN THE REQUIEM'S PARTNER LIST AND WHY IT IS NOT THIS ENTRY. Filtered to Calm/Mind, the [Ganking] partners are OGN-112 Kai'Sa, Evolutionary (already carried by kaisa-evolutionary-arena-spell, which doubles her conquer trigger instead of giving her a second Conquer), SFD-071 Breakneck Mech (E8 + 2 Power, and its [Ganking] is a static on your Mechs, so the Requiem's grant is redundant) and OGN-297 Windswept Hillock (a battlefield, and 485.5 chooses battlefields at random). Gustwalker is the one whose own card takes over afterwards.
- WHAT REFUTES IT. (a) The second Conquer needs a second takeable battlefield: if B is garrisoned, 323.9 stages a Combat and a M5 Gustwalker has to win it. (b) 825.3.b lets a deck hold any combination of three Signature cards but still only one of each Unique name, so a second Requiem is illegal, not merely expensive. (c) The Requiem's ready is 'your units', which is generous — but 415.1.b makes readying an already-ready unit nothing, so cast it after the first move, never before.
Steps
- Earlier turns: play Gustwalker (E3 + 1 Mind Power). 143.4 makes him enter exhausted; 315.1.b readies him in your Awakening.
- Main Phase, Neutral Open State. Standard-Move Gustwalker from your base to an open battlefield (144.4.a; exhaust is the cost, 144.2 / 420.3.a). Contested applies (190.3.a.1, 450).
- The next Cleanup stages a Showdown and no Combat (323.8, 323.9); 323.12 opens it; 348.2.a and 348.2.a.1 Conquer it. 471.1 pays a point and [Hunt 2] pays 2 XP.
- Play Shurelya's Requiem for 4 Energy and 2 Power. 'When you play this, ready your units' readies Gustwalker where he stands (415.1).
- Activate its [Equip] for one rainbow and attach it to Gustwalker (818.1, 818.1.b). 434.1.c appends 'Your units here have [Ganking]' to him and 434.1.d makes him M5.
- Standard-Move him battlefield to battlefield (144.4.c.1) into the second battlefield. A second Conquer: another point and another 2 XP.
- He now has 4 XP, so [Level 3] is active — '+1 Might and [Ganking]' — for every later turn in which you do not spend XP (824.1.d, 730.2).
Per iteration
two points and 4 XP on the turn the Requiem is played, and from then on a M4 body that moves battlefield to battlefield on its own with no card spent
How it ends
engine only — the Requiem's mass ready is once per game (825.3.a, 818.1), and afterwards Gustwalker takes at most one Conquer a turn on his own (470, 485.4)

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #170), from the orphan synergy rule shurelyas-requiem-ganking-second-move (36 partners, 36 uncovered). UNL-075 Gustwalker was in zero entries. The contribution is that a [Unique] one-shot is worth more when its partner's own card takes the loan over: 4 XP from two Hunt 2 Conquers crosses [Level 3] and hands Gustwalker the same keyword permanently. The legend line was computed, not typed: SFD-192 is Signature with champion tag Ornn, and the only legends in cards.json carrying it are SFD-189 and SFD-244 Fire Below the Mountain (Calm/Mind). Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened and read: 103.1.b.3, 103.2.d.2, 143.4, 144.2, 144.4.a, 144.4.c.1, 190.3.a.1, 315.1.b, 323.8, 323.9, 323.12, 348.2.a, 348.2.a.1, 359.3.f.2, 415.1, 415.1.b, 420.3.a, 434.1.c, 434.1.d, 450, 470, 471.1, 485.4, 485.5, 730.2, 810.1.c.3, 818.1, 818.1.b, 823.1.c.1, 824.1.d, 825.3.a, 825.3.b. Ban check: SFD-192 and UNL-075 carry no [BANNED marker. Arithmetic against its own declared quantities: 2 Conquers x 2 XP = 4, against a [Level 3] threshold. Trap check: the second Conquer is a Showdown, so no Attacker designation exists and no [Assault] belongs here; XP is spent by nothing in the line, because 824.1.d would switch the Level off; no token; no [Temporary]; no [Repeat]; the Might Bonus is not a buff, so 702.3 is silent. Depends on no unruled reading.
