Shurelya's Requiem is both halves of the Ganking pattern on one card — but 818.1 means only the PLAY readies, and [Unique] means once
Pieces
- Shurelya's Requiem ×1
SFD-192 · engine · calm/mind
[Unique] (Your deck can have only 1 card with this name.) [Equip] 1 Power of any domain (1 Power of any domain: Attach this to a unit you control.) When you play this, ready your units.
Your units here have [Ganking]. (We can move from battlefield to battlefield.)
- Ornn, Forge God ×1
SFD-085 · payoff · mind
[Deflect 2] (Opponents must pay 2 Power of any domain to choose me with a spell or ability.) [Weaponmaster] (When you play me, you may [Equip] one of your Equipment to me for 1 Power of any domain less, even if it's already attached.) I have +1 Might for each friendly gear.
- Poro Snax ×1
SFD-046 · enabler · calm
When you play this, draw 1. 1 Energy + 1 Calm Power, Exhaust, Kill this: Draw 1.
Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains must cover Calm and Mind; eleven legends do.
- The [Effect] only reaches units at the equipped unit's battlefield, so the line needs a garrison there, not a base full of bodies.
Prerequisites
- 'READY YOUR UNITS' IS TWO CARDS IN THE WHOLE POOL, GREPPED AND NOT REMEMBERED. `grep -i 'ready your units'` over data/corpus_flat.txt returns SFD-192 Shurelya's Requiem and SFD-204 On the Hunt, and nothing else. On the Hunt is already the anchor of a synergy rule; the Requiem was in no entry and is anchor of nothing.
- 818.1 IS WHY THE READY DOES NOT REPEAT, AND IT KILLS THE OBVIOUS LOOP. 'Equip is an Activated Ability keyword', and 818.1.c.2 makes it 'functionally short for "[Cost]: Attach this gear to a unit you control."' Attaching is activating an ability; it is not playing a card. So Ornn's [Weaponmaster] — 'when you play me, you may [Equip] one of your Equipment to me for [R] less, EVEN IF IT'S ALREADY ATTACHED' — re-attaches the Requiem without ever re-triggering 'When you play this, ready your units'. The hunt suspected this; 818.1 is the rule that settles it.
- SO THE READY IS A ONE-SHOT AND THE ENTRY SAYS SO IN ITS OWN TERMS. '[Unique] (Your deck can have only 1 card with this name.)' caps the deck at one copy, and the ready fires on the play. What survives is the other half: '[Effect] Your units here have [Ganking]' is a continuous effect that rides on the attached gear for as long as it is attached, so every unit at that battlefield keeps the option forever.
- AND [Ganking] IS NOT AN EXTRA MOVE. 810.1.c.3: 'It does not give additional abilities or activations of Movement, only new options for the Standard Move.' What the Requiem's [Effect] buys is that your units at that battlefield may Standard-Move BATTLEFIELD TO BATTLEFIELD instead of only to and from base — one move each, still paid with their own exhaust (144.2). Combined with the one-shot mass ready, that is a whole garrison standing up and walking sideways once.
- SFD-084 JAYCE, MAN OF PROGRESS IS THE ONLY RE-PLAY, AND IT IS STILL ONE SHOT. 'When you play me, you may kill a friendly gear. If you do, you may play a gear with Energy cost no more than [E7] from HAND this turn, ignoring its Energy cost. (You must still pay its Power cost.)' — from HAND. Once the Requiem is on the board, killing a gear does not put it back in your hand, and [Unique] means there is no second copy there. Jayce makes the FIRST Requiem free of its 4 Energy; he does not make it repeat.
- ORNN'S OWN ARITHMETIC. 'I have +1 [M] for each friendly gear' counts gear you control anywhere, so the Requiem (+2 Might as attached Equipment on top) and a Poro Snax already put him at 4 + 2 + 2 = 8 Might, and Poro Snax has drawn a card doing it. Killing the Snax for its second draw costs him 1 Might.
- on-the-hunt-ganking-second-move IN data/synergies.json MODELS THE PATTERN WITH TWO CARDS. Its own text names Shurelya's Requiem as a Ganking granter that On the Hunt does not ready. That is the observation this entry turns into an entry — and the correction is that the Requiem's ready is not repeatable, so it is not a strictly better On the Hunt.
Steps
- Get Ornn, Forge God to a battlefield (6 Energy) with your other bodies.
- Play Shurelya's Requiem for 4 Energy + 2 Power. 'When you play this, ready your units' fires once, on the play: your whole board stands up.
- Attach it for its [Equip] cost of 1 rainbow Power (or free of Energy through Jayce, Man of Progress, whose Power cost you still pay).
- The [Effect] now reads on the attached unit's battlefield: your units there have [Ganking], so their Standard Move may go battlefield to battlefield (810.1.c.3, 144.2).
- Ornn counts every friendly gear for +1 Might each; Poro Snax is a 1 Energy gear that draws on the way in and draws again when killed.
- Re-attaching the Requiem later — by Ornn's [Weaponmaster] alone - and NOT by paying [Equip] again, because 718.2 makes an attached Equipment's printed Rules Text Inactive and 721.2 says an Inactive ability cannot be activated, which is exactly why [Weaponmaster] has to print "even if it's already attached" (corrected 2026-09-07) — moves the [Effect] to a new battlefield but never repeats the ready (818.1).
Per iteration
one mass ready of your units on the play, then permanent [Ganking] for your units at the equipped unit's battlefield, plus +1 Might on Ornn per friendly gear
How it ends
engine only — [Unique] allows one copy and 818.1 makes the ready a play trigger, so the ready happens once per game; the [Ganking] is continuous while attached

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-issue89-tournament-corpus.md), issue #89 candidate 9 (35 registered lists). SFD-192 Shurelya's Requiem and SFD-046 Poro Snax appeared in NO entry before this; SFD-085 Ornn is in tianna-guardian-angel-forge-god-lock and SFD-084 Jayce anchors jayce-progress-vanguard-armory, and both overlaps are declared. THE WALK'S ADDITION over the hunt: the hunt asked whether [Weaponmaster] re-triggers the ready and guessed no; 818.1 and 818.1.c.2 answer it — Equip is an ACTIVATED ABILITY, so attaching is never playing, and no re-attach reaches a 'when you play this' trigger. It also closes the Jayce follow-up the hunt left open: Jayce plays a gear FROM HAND, and [Unique] plus the card already being on the board means he discounts the first copy and cannot loop it. The 'ready your units' uniqueness claim was verified with grep over the whole corpus before being written. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened: 103.2.b, 144.2, 810.1.c.3, 818.1, 818.1.c.2. Ban check: none of the four carries a [BANNED marker. Trap check: no attack designation; no [Repeat]; no [Temporary]; no token; no recall; no Gold; no battlefield of its own; the entry claims a one-shot ready and says so in its class, its netPerIteration and its terminatesIn rather than dressing it as repeatable. Depends on no unruled reading.
